Authorized Project Distributor — Dr. Fixit by Pidilite | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad
Product Overview
Dr. Fixit Newcoat is a premium elastomeric acrylic waterproofing and heat-reflective coating manufactured by Pidilite Industries specifically for application on flat concrete terraces and roof slabs. The product combines two performance functions that are critical in the Indian climate: effective waterproofing of the concrete slab surface against monsoon rain and ponded water, and high solar reflectance (cool roof technology) that significantly reduces the surface temperature of the roof slab and the heat transmitted into the rooms below. Concrete flat roofs in Indian summer conditions can reach surface temperatures of 65 to 75 degrees C under direct solar radiation in peak afternoon hours. This extreme thermal loading causes significant thermal expansion and contraction stress in the concrete slab and the waterproofing treatments applied to it, as well as transmitting substantial heat load to the occupied spaces below (increasing air conditioning energy consumption). Dr. Fixit Newcoat uses titanium dioxide-based white reflective pigments in a high-solids elastomeric acrylic polymer binder to achieve a solar reflectance index (SRI) of 85 to 95 (compared to 20 to 30 for grey concrete and 0 to 10 for black bitumen surfaces), reducing terrace surface temperature by 15 to 25 degrees C and interior room ceiling temperature by 3 to 6 degrees C under peak summer conditions. The elastomeric acrylic polymer provides the waterproofing performance: elongation at break greater than 150 percent bridges hairline cracks in the concrete slab, the seamless applied membrane eliminates lap joints and seams that can delaminate, and the formulation is UV-stable to resist chalking, yellowing, and embrittlement under long-term Indian solar radiation exposure. Space Arc Engineering supplies Dr. Fixit Newcoat for residential and commercial terrace waterproofing and heat-reduction projects throughout Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, and Uttar Pradesh.
Applications
- Flat concrete terrace waterproofing with simultaneous solar heat reflection on residential buildings
- Commercial building roof waterproofing — large-area roller application for industrial and warehouse roofs
- Terrace garden base waterproofing — applied over slab before landscaping or planters
- Existing terrace renovation — applied over cleaned existing waterproofing or concrete surface
- Parapet top face waterproofing — reflective coating on parapet caps and copings
- Government and institutional buildings — cool roof compliance for energy efficiency ratings
Key Advantages
- Cool roof technology — solar reflectance index 85 to 95, reduces surface temperature by 15 to 25 degrees C
- Dual function — waterproofing and heat reflection in one coating application
- Elastomeric crack bridging — over 150 percent elongation accommodates thermal slab movement
- Energy saving — reduced heat gain lowers air conditioning load in occupied spaces below
- UV stable white finish — maintains reflectance and appearance over long service life
- Water-based acrylic — safe application, low VOC, easy equipment clean-up with water

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Dr. Fixit Newcoat compare to conventional white cement-based cool roof treatments and silver-foil insulation for terrace heat reduction, and what is the expected energy saving from Newcoat application?
Three approaches are commonly used in Indian residential construction to address terrace heat gain: white cement-based cool roof treatment (lime or white cement wash applied over the terrace screed), silver foil or bubble-wrap insulation (aluminium foil laminated insulation sheets placed loose or adhered to the terrace surface), and reflective elastomeric coatings such as Dr. Fixit Newcoat. White cement wash (lime wash or Snowcem-type treatments) is the lowest-cost option and provides some reflectance improvement over grey concrete (raising SRI from approximately 25 to 50 to 60 range). However, white cement wash is a rigid coating that does not bridge hairline cracks, has no waterproofing function, and weathers rapidly under UV exposure and monsoon rain — reflectance degrades within 1 to 2 monsoon seasons and must be reapplied annually to maintain performance. Silver foil or bubble-wrap insulation sheets are installed as a loose-laid or adhered layer on the terrace and provide excellent insulation performance (R-value benefit) but no waterproofing function — they must be installed over an existing waterproofed terrace. The foil surface can achieve high reflectance initially but is vulnerable to damage from foot traffic, wind uplift, and deterioration of the adhesive in damp conditions. Dr. Fixit Newcoat provides the highest long-term performance of the three options: SRI of 85 to 95 (higher than white cement wash when new, and sustained over 5 to 7 years versus 1 to 2 years for lime wash), simultaneous waterproofing function in one application (eliminating the need for separate waterproofing before reflective treatment), crack-bridging elastomeric film that maintains performance as the slab thermally cycles, and durable UV-stable finish requiring recoating only every 5 to 7 years under normal Indian conditions. Regarding energy saving: building energy simulation studies in India for residential buildings in composite climate zones (Delhi, Ghaziabad fall in ECBC climate zone 2) show that applying a cool roof coating with SRI above 78 (the ECBC threshold for cool roof credit) on a flat concrete roof with insulation equivalent to 50 mm EPS can reduce annual cooling energy consumption for the top floor by 8 to 15 percent, with peak cooling load reductions of 15 to 25 percent. The actual saving depends on building geometry, occupancy, HVAC system efficiency, and local climate. For a typical 3 BHK apartment in Ghaziabad with 1000 square feet of exposed terrace area, Dr. Fixit Newcoat application can be expected to reduce peak summer air conditioning consumption for the top floor by 1 to 2 kWh per day, with a payback period of 2 to 4 years relative to the cost of the Newcoat treatment versus no roof treatment.
