Fosroc Conplast SP430
Chloride-free sulphonated naphthalene (SNF) superplasticising admixture for high-strength, high-workability and precast concrete – supplied and supported by Space Arc Engineering, your authorised Fosroc distributor across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
What is it?
Fosroc Conplast SP430 is a chloride-free superplasticising admixture based on selected sulphonated naphthalene (SNF) polymers, supplied as a brown solution that instantly disperses in water.
Where is it used?
High-strength and precast concrete, ready-mix (RMC) plants, infrastructure and pumped concrete across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, including hot-weather placements where early strength gain matters.
Why use it?
It delivers high-performance water reduction and workability while accelerating early strength gain, helping achieve high early and ultimate strengths – all with nil chloride content to BS 5075.
How is it applied?
Dosed at 0.70-2.00 litres/100 kg of cementitious material for high-strength water-reduced mixes, or 0.70-1.30 litres/100 kg for high-workability mixes, added to the gauging water or wet concrete and mixed thoroughly.
About Fosroc Conplast SP430
Fosroc Conplast SP430 is a high-performance superplasticising concrete admixture engineered for demanding Indian construction applications where strength, workability and early-age performance are critical. Chemically, it is based on selected sulphonated naphthalene (SNF) polymers – a chloride-free formulation supplied as a brown liquid that instantly disperses on contact with water. This SNF chemistry places Conplast SP430 in the well-established naphthalene-sulphonate family of superplasticisers, valued by RMC plants and precasters for reliable, repeatable water-reduction and slump performance.
The admixture is designed to do two jobs that often pull against each other: enabling a substantial reduction in water content for high-strength concrete, or alternatively producing free-flowing, highly workable concrete at a given water-cement ratio. A defining benefit of Conplast SP430 is its contribution to the acceleration of early strength gain, supporting high early and ultimate compressive strengths. This makes it particularly well suited to precast yards, where rapid mould turnaround and early de-moulding directly drive productivity, and to high-strength structural concrete on infrastructure projects.
With nil chloride content to BS 5075, Conplast SP430 is appropriate for reinforced and prestressed concrete where chloride-induced corrosion of steel must be avoided. It typically entrains less than 2% additional air at normal dosages, so it does not compromise the density or strength of the hardened concrete. As an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator, Space Arc Engineering supplies Conplast SP430 with full technical backing – including trial-mix guidance and compatibility advice – so site teams can dial in the right dosage for their cement, aggregates and ambient conditions. Where a polycarboxylate-ether (PCE) admixture such as Fosroc Auracast or Fosroc Structuro is better matched to ultra-high-range water reduction or extended slump retention, our team can advise on the correct product within the Fosroc range, alongside comparable lines from BASF MasterGlenium, Sika ViscoCrete and MC-Bauchemie where appropriate.
The technical insight
Conplast SP430 works by electrostatic dispersion: the sulphonated naphthalene (SNF) polymers adsorb onto cement particles and impart a negative surface charge, causing flocculated cement grains to repel one another and release trapped mixing water. The freed water becomes available for workability, which is why a given slump can be achieved at a lower water-cement ratio – the route to higher strength. Because it is chloride-free (nil to BS 5075), it can be used in reinforced and prestressed concrete without the corrosion risk associated with chloride-bearing accelerators. The product’s specific gravity is typically 1.20 at 20°C, with alkali content typically less than 72.0 g Na2O equivalent per litre of admixture, and it complies with BS 5075 Part 3 and ASTM C494 as both Type A (water-reducing) and Type F (high-range water-reducing). SNF admixtures characteristically give strong initial slump but shorter slump retention than newer PCE chemistries, so in hot-weather Indian conditions dosage timing and, where needed, a retarder or re-dosing strategy should be planned during trial mixes.
Where it is used
- High-strength structural concrete for buildings, bridges and infrastructure
- Precast concrete elements requiring early strength gain and fast mould turnaround
- Ready-mix concrete (RMC) production needing consistent workability
- Water-reduced concrete targeting high early and ultimate compressive strengths
- Pumped and free-flowing concrete placements
- Reinforced and prestressed concrete where chloride-free admixtures are mandatory
- Hot-weather concreting where early strength development is advantageous
Key advantages
- Chloride-free (nil to BS 5075) – safe for reinforced and prestressed concrete
- Accelerates early strength gain, supporting high early and ultimate strengths
- Enables high water reduction for high-strength concrete, or high workability at constant w/c
- Reliable, well-proven SNF chemistry trusted by RMC and precast plants
- Low air entrainment – typically less than 2% additional air at normal dosages
- Instantly disperses in water for easy, consistent batching
- Complies with BS 5075 Part 3 and ASTM C494 as Type A and Type F
- Backed by Space Arc Engineering’s authorised Fosroc technical and trial-mix support
Limitations & considerations
- As an SNF-based admixture, slump retention is typically shorter than newer PCE (polycarboxylate ether) superplasticisers – plan dosage timing for long hauls or hot weather
- Optimum dosage depends on cement type, aggregates and ambient temperature; site trial mixes are essential
- Overdosing can cause excessive workability, bleeding or segregation
- For ultra-high-range water reduction or extended slump retention, a PCE admixture (e.g. Fosroc Auracast / Structuro) may be more suitable
- Always confirm compatibility when combining with other admixtures in the same mix
Selection & best practice
Always establish the optimum dosage by site trial mixes using your actual cement, aggregates and ambient conditions, starting within the verified range of 0.70-2.00 litres/100 kg of cementitious material for high-strength water-reduced mixes (or 0.70-1.30 litres/100 kg for high-workability mixes). Add Conplast SP430 to the gauging water or to the wet concrete – never to dry cement – and mix thoroughly to disperse it evenly. In hot-weather Delhi NCR and Pan-India placements, plan for the shorter slump retention typical of SNF admixtures by timing addition close to placement and consulting Space Arc Engineering on retarder use or re-dosing. Verify chloride-free and ASTM C494 / BS 5075 compliance requirements against your project specification, and confirm admixture compatibility before combining products in a single mix.
