Master Builders Solutions MasterEmaco S 650
Rapid-hardening patch repair mortar that puts bridge decks, runways and factory floors back under traffic in as little as two to three hours.
What is it?
A single-component, thixotropic cementitious repair mortar from Master Builders Solutions, mixed with water on site for horizontal patch repairs 10–50 mm deep on trafficked concrete.
Where is it used?
Bridge decks, concrete roads, airport runways and aprons, warehouse floors, pothole and joint-edge repairs where lanes cannot stay closed for long.
Why use it?
Roughly 15 MPa within 3 hours and 50 MPa at 28 days, with shrinkage compensation that keeps the patch tight to the parent slab — traffic returns in 2–3 hours instead of days.
How is it applied?
Break out to a minimum 10 mm with saw-cut edges, prepare the substrate to CSP 5–8, mix a 25 kg bag with 2.75 litres of water, place and compact within the 20-minute working life, then finish and cure.
About Master Builders Solutions MasterEmaco S 650
When a concrete carriageway, deck slab or loading bay develops spalls and potholes, the repair material is rarely the bottleneck — the lane closure is. MasterEmaco S 650 is built around that constraint. It is a single-component powder mortar that needs only clean water on site, and its rapid-hardening binder reaches about 15 MPa within three hours of placing. On most jobs the patch is carrying rubber-tyred traffic again the same shift, which is why maintenance teams on toll roads, airfields and busy warehouse floors specify it for horizontal repairs between 10 mm and 50 mm deep.
Space Arc Engineering supplies MasterEmaco S 650 across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, and our applicator crews handle the part that actually decides whether a fast-set patch survives: breakout geometry, substrate preparation and disciplined batch timing. Because the material sets fully in around two hours, planning the pour sequence matters as much as the mortar itself. We help contractors size bag quantities from the measured break-out volume, stage mixing so nothing exceeds the 20-minute working life, and coordinate night-block or NOTAM-window works where reopening time is contractual.
The technical insight
Three properties do the real work here. First, the rapid-hardening binder system hydrates far faster than ordinary Portland cement, building a dense strength matrix in hours — around 15 MPa at 3 hours, 25 MPa at 1 day and 50 MPa at 28 days when tested to ASTM C109 — so the patch can accept wheel loads almost as soon as it has set. Second, the mix is shrinkage-compensated: as fast binders hydrate they would normally shrink and pull away from the saw-cut perimeter, but the compensating mechanism offsets that movement so the repair stays locked to the parent concrete instead of debonding at the edges. Third, the mortar is thixotropic at a very low water demand — just 2.75 litres per 25 kg bag — so it holds its shape under the trowel on falls and cambers, yet compacts into a dense, low-permeability patch that resists water and chloride ingress on exposed decks.
Where it is used
- Patch repairs to bridge and flyover deck slabs during short night closures
- Spall and pothole repair on concrete roads and rigid pavements
- Airport runway, taxiway and apron panel repairs inside NOTAM windows
- Reinstatement of warehouse and factory floors under forklift traffic
- Joint-edge and arris rebuilding at construction and contraction joints
- Toll plaza lanes, loading bays and container-yard slabs needing same-day reopening
- Localised horizontal repairs 10–50 mm deep on any trafficked concrete surface
Key advantages
- Around 15 MPa in 3 hours — traffic typically returns within 2–3 hours of placing
- High ultimate strength: 25 MPa at 1 day, 50 MPa at 28 days (ASTM C109)
- Shrinkage-compensated, so patches stay bonded at the perimeter instead of curling or debonding
- Single component — only water added on site, no dosing errors between gangs
- Thixotropic consistency holds profile on cambered decks and ramps without formwork
- Dense, low-permeability repair protects reinforcement on exposed decks
- One 25 kg bag yields about 14.6 litres, making quantity take-offs straightforward
Limitations & considerations
- Working life is only about 20 minutes at 25°C — mix one bag at a time and never re-temper a stiffened batch
- Horizontal surfaces only; vertical and overhead repairs need a different MasterEmaco grade
- Repair depth is limited to 10–50 mm; feather-edging below 10 mm will fail under traffic
- Application window is +10°C to +40°C, and above 25°C chilled water is needed to hold workability
- Demands serious surface preparation — CSP 5–8 profile and substrate pull-off strength of at least 1.5 MPa
- Shelf life is 6 months in dry palletised storage, so avoid over-ordering for small maintenance contracts
Selection & best practice
Mark the repair, then saw-cut the perimeter to at least 10 mm depth so there are no feather edges — this is the single biggest determinant of patch life under traffic. Break out all weak concrete to a sound, fully cured substrate with a minimum tensile pull-off of 1.5 MPa and mechanically profile it to CSP 5–8. Remove dust and standing water. Mix one full 25 kg bag with 2.75 litres of clean water using a forced-action or drill mixer; never split bags or add extra water to extend workability. Place, compact firmly against the saw-cut edges and finish within the 20-minute working life — in Indian summer conditions above 25°C, switch to chilled water, shade the stacked bags and shorten the placing chain. Cure immediately after finishing. Confirm final set (around 120 minutes at 25°C) before removing barriers; most repairs reopen to traffic in two to three hours at moderate temperatures, longer in cold weather.

Industry use cases
Highways & Bridges
Concessionaires and O&M contractors patch spalled deck panels and expansion-joint nosings during single-night lane blocks, reopening before the morning peak.
Airports
Runway, taxiway and apron spall repairs completed inside short NOTAM windows, with strength verified before aircraft movements resume.
Warehousing & Logistics
Joint-arris and floor-slab repairs in live distribution centres, with forklift and pallet-truck traffic back on the patch the same shift.
Industrial Plants
Loading bays, plant roads and process-area slabs repaired during planned maintenance windows without halting despatch operations.
Municipal & Urban Roads
Pothole and panel-edge repairs on concrete carriageways and bus lanes where extended traffic diversions are not practical.

How we position Master Builders Solutions MasterEmaco S 650
MasterEmaco S 650 is the trafficked-horizontal specialist in the MasterEmaco repair family. For vertical and overhead structural repairs, pair it with a trowelable MasterEmaco structural grade; for large-volume or heavily congested sections, a flowable MasterEmaco micro-concrete placed in shutters is the better tool. Finished decks exposed to chlorides can be sealed with MasterProtect protective coatings, and machine bases adjacent to floor repairs are grouted with MasterFlow precision grouts. Where a project standardises on another brand, Space Arc also supplies and applies the Fosroc Renderoc and Sika MonoTop repair ranges, so we can match the approved make on your specification.
