D-Seal SealMaster-H
Pre-formed solid EPDM compression seal that keeps floor and wall expansion joints watertight through years of thermal movement — installed dry, trafficked the same day.
What is it?
A factory-extruded solid EPDM rubber profile from D-Seal (Dhawan Associates) that is compressed into square expansion joints, where its permanent recovery pressure keeps the joint sealed as the structure moves.
Where is it used?
Floor-to-floor and floor-to-wall expansion joints in car parks, podium decks, warehouses, basements, malls and airport concourses — on concrete, masonry and screeded substrates.
Why use it?
It replaces messy poured sealants with a dry-fit seal that has no curing window, sits flush and trip-free with the floor, and shrugs off UV, ozone and monsoon exposure without repainting or resealing.
How is it applied?
The joint gap is measured and cleaned, the matching profile size is selected, an adhesive lubricant is applied to the joint faces, and the seal is compressed in and seated flush in one continuous length.
About D-Seal SealMaster-H
Expansion joints are the one part of a structure that is designed to keep moving, which is exactly why they are usually the first place a floor starts leaking. Gun-applied sealants cure hard against a schedule, debond when the joint cycles faster than the polymer can relax, and need repeated raking out and redoing. D-Seal SealMaster-H takes a different route: a solid EPDM rubber profile, extruded in continuous lengths, that is squeezed into the joint and held there permanently under compression. The rubber’s stored recovery force presses against both joint faces at all times, so the seal follows the joint as it opens in winter and closes in summer without ever relying on adhesion alone.
D-Seal is the expansion-joint brand of Dhawan Associates, an Indian manufacturer certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. Profiles are manufactured to suit different joint widths, so the seal is matched to the measured gap rather than forced into it. Space Arc Engineering supplies SealMaster-H across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, and can take on the installation as an approved applicator where sites want single-point responsibility for the joint.
The technical insight
The working principle is compression set in reverse. EPDM is a saturated-backbone synthetic rubber, which is why it holds its elasticity outdoors: with no reactive double bonds exposed, UV, ozone and heat have little to attack, so the profile keeps generating sealing pressure years after installation instead of hardening and shrinking the way many organic sealants do. When the profile is inserted at a size larger than the joint gap, the rubber stores elastic energy and pushes outward against both arrises continuously. As the joint opens, the profile relaxes and expands to follow it; as the joint closes, it compresses further. Watertightness therefore comes from mechanical contact pressure along the full joint length, not from a glue line — the adhesive lubricant used during installation mainly eases insertion and locks the seal’s position. Because nothing has to cure, the seal is effective the moment it is seated, and the flush profile keeps wheels and feet passing over the joint without snagging.
Where it is used
- Movement joints in multi-storey car park decks and ramps
- Floor expansion joints in industrial warehouses and logistics sheds
- Podium and plaza deck joints over occupied spaces below
- Wall-to-floor junctions in basements where seepage tends to start
- Concourse and walkway joints in airports, metro stations and malls
- Floor joints in commercial office plates and IT parks
- Square vertical joints in masonry and concrete walls (per D-Seal’s range specification)
- Replacement of failed poured sealant in existing floor joints after joint preparation
Key advantages
- Stays watertight through repeated joint movement because sealing force comes from permanent compression, not a bond line that can peel
- EPDM chemistry resists UV, ozone and weathering — suited to Indian rooftops, open decks and monsoon exposure
- Dry-fit installation with no curing time, so floors return to traffic almost immediately
- Continuous extruded lengths mean very few site joins, removing the commonest leak points
- Finishes flush with the floor — no trip hazard, no snagging of trolley and forklift wheels
- No painting, topping or resealing needed after installation
- Works on concrete, masonry and screeded substrates alike
- Simple maintenance regime: clear debris, rinse, and inspect annually
Limitations & considerations
- Performance depends entirely on matching profile size to the measured joint gap — an undersized seal loses compression and leaks, so a joint survey is essential before ordering
- D-Seal does not publish a universal movement-range figure; movement capacity varies with the profile chosen and must be confirmed against project joint calculations
- Joint arrises must be sound, parallel and clean — spalled or ragged edges need repair with a suitable mortar before the seal can grip
- EPDM has limited resistance to oils, fuels and hydrocarbon solvents, so joints with regular spillage of these need a different seal material
- It is a seal, not a load-transfer or armouring device — very wide joints under hard-wheeled heavy traffic may need a mechanical or armored joint system instead
- Large seismic-rated movement gaps fall outside its scope; D-Seal’s dedicated seismic joint systems cover those cases
Selection & best practice
Start with the joint, not the seal. Measure the actual gap at several points along its length, note the ambient temperature at the time (the gap you measure in May is near its minimum), and record any spalling or width variation. Share this survey with us so the correct profile size is selected — compression seals fail from wrong sizing far more often than from material fault. Repair damaged arrises and let the repair gain strength before installation. On the day, clean the joint faces down to sound, dust-free substrate, apply the adhesive lubricant to both faces, then compress and insert the profile progressively, working in one continuous length wherever the layout allows. Seat the seal flush with the finished floor — proud sections get plucked out by wheels, recessed sections trap grit. Wipe surplus lubricant before it collects dirt, then walk the full run and check compression contact on both faces. Afterwards, keep the joint free of debris and inspect annually for lifting, shifting or loss of compression, especially after the first summer-winter cycle.

Industry use cases
Car Parks & Podium Decks
Deck and ramp joints see constant wheel loads plus full weather exposure. SealMaster-H seals them flush so water stops migrating to the slab soffit and parked cars below, without closing levels for sealant curing.
Warehousing & Logistics
Forklift and pallet-truck traffic destroys proud or debonded joint fillers. A flush compression seal keeps wheels rolling smoothly over floor joints and goes back into service the same shift it is installed.
Commercial & Retail Buildings
Mall concourses, office floor plates and lobbies need joints that stay neat and trip-free under continuous footfall. The extruded profile gives a clean, uniform line with no repainting or annual resealing.
Basements & Below-Grade Structures
Wall-to-floor junctions are the classic seepage path in NCR basements. Permanent compression along the full joint length closes this path even as the structure breathes seasonally.
Airports & Public Infrastructure
Concourses, walkways and plaza decks combine heavy footfall with long joint runs. Continuous lengths keep join counts low, and EPDM’s weathering resistance suits exposed transitions.

How we position D-Seal SealMaster-H
SealMaster-H is the floor-first member of D-Seal’s compression seal family. For wall-to-wall joints in both orientations, its sibling SealMaster-HV (JD Series) is the closer fit, while the D-Seal Vertical Compression Seal — a close-cell PU D-profile — handles wall-to-wall vertical movement economically. Joints with large or seismic-rated movement should step up to D-Seal’s seismic expansion joint cover systems, which Space Arc also supplies. Where a preformed profile cannot be fitted — irregular gaps, narrow saw-cut joints, or detailing around penetrations — a gun-applied movement-joint sealant from our Fosroc or Sika sealant range is the right companion product, and spalled joint arrises are best rebuilt with an epoxy repair mortar from our concrete repair portfolio before any seal goes in. Tell us the joint type, measured gap and traffic condition, and we will match the product rather than force one.
