Every building joint eventually tells the truth about its structure. The technical insight
A conventional flat cover plate assumes both slab surfaces are coplanar. Bolt one across slabs with even a few millimetres of differential settlement and it rocks, works its anchors loose, and becomes a trip edge. NovaLink solves this mechanically rather than cosmetically: the plate is fixed along one slab edge only, and a continuous hinge lets the free side pivot and bear evenly on the opposite slab regardless of its level. As the structure moves — thermal cycling, live-load deflection, further settlement — the plate simply changes its angle instead of fighting the movement. The geometry has been validated by cycling to ASTM E1399, and the serrated top surface keeps the transition slip-resistant and ADA compliant, so the joint stays safe for wheelchairs, stretcher trolleys and pallet trucks.

Selection & best practice
Start with a joint survey, not a catalogue selection: measure the actual gap width, the level difference between slabs and the expected movement at several points along the run, because retrofit joints are rarely uniform. Repair spalled or weak concrete edges with a suitable repair mortar before fixing. Position the cover centred over the opening and anchor it only along the designated fixed side — anchoring both edges defeats the hinge and will crack the plate or the anchors under movement. After torquing the anchors, physically check that the hinged plate pivots freely through its full range and beds flat on the opposite slab. If a fire or vapour barrier is specified, install it in the gap before the cover goes down, with laps sealed as per the datasheet. On long runs, maintain manufacturer-recommended joints between units and keep serrations clear of screed and debris during handover.
