What is it?

A flexible EPDM compression seal with an integral collar, manufactured by D-Seal (Dhawan Associates) for expansion joints in walls and ceilings.

Where is it used?

Wall-to-wall and wall-to-ceiling movement joints in commercial, institutional and residential buildings — corridors, partitions, lobbies and exterior facades, with a particular focus on refurbishment work.

Why use it?

The collared profile seals the gap and covers the joint edges in one operation, so tired or failed joints can be resealed fast without demolition. EPDM shrugs off UV, ozone and weathering indoors and out.

How is it applied?

Clean the joint, cut the seal to length from the roll, apply the adhesive lubricant, compress the profile into the gap and press the collar flat against the surrounding finish.

About D-Seal EnduroSeal

EnduroSeal is D-Seal’s quick-fit answer to a problem every facility team in India knows well: a building’s wall and ceiling expansion joints outlive whatever was first used to seal them. Old covers work loose, sealants crack, and the gap becomes a dust trap that spoils an otherwise fresh interior. EnduroSeal is a wall-to-wall EPDM compression seal with a moulded collar on its face. The body of the profile compresses into the joint gap while the collar laps over both edges, hiding ragged arrises and giving a neat, continuous line along the run. Because it is supplied cut to suit from rolls up to 25 metres long, most corridor or facade runs go in as a single piece with no splices to fail later.

As authorised distributor and applicator for D-Seal, Space Arc Engineering supplies EnduroSeal across Delhi NCR and pan-India, and can install it through our own applicator teams. Profiles are produced at D-Seal’s in-house design facility against your measured joint width, expected movement and colour requirement, so what arrives on site matches the joint that is actually there — not a nominal size from a catalogue. The seal mounts either on the surface of the finish or recessed into it, and the weather-, UV- and ozone-resistant EPDM compound makes it equally at home on an external facade joint as on an interior partition.

The technical insight

A compression seal works on stored elastic energy rather than adhesion. The EPDM profile is manufactured slightly wider than the joint gap it will occupy; when it is lubricated and pressed in, the rubber is squeezed and pushes back against both joint faces. As the structure moves — thermal expansion by day, contraction by night — the seal follows: it relaxes as the gap closes and springs back as it opens, keeping face contact through every cycle without depending on a bond line that could peel. This is why sizing against the real, surveyed gap matters more than anything else in specification. The choice of EPDM is equally deliberate. Its saturated polymer backbone leaves almost no reactive sites for ultraviolet light and ozone to attack, which is what destroys cheaper natural or SBR rubbers left in the sun. That chemistry is behind the manufacturer’s indicative 20–50 year service life for correctly installed EPDM and its wide quoted service window of roughly −60 °C to +125 °C. The collar, finally, does double duty: it dresses the joint edges visually and sheds water and dust away from the gap.

Where it is used

  • Resealing failed or dated expansion joints during building refurbishment
  • Wall-to-wall movement joints in corridors and long partition runs
  • Wall-to-ceiling junction joints in lobbies, atria and auditoriums
  • Exterior facade joints exposed to sun, rain and temperature swings
  • Joints where a new extension or infill block abuts an existing structure
  • Interior fit-outs in malls, hospitals and offices where fast, clean installation matters
  • Replacing loose or rattling metal joint covers with a flush, flexible profile

Key advantages

  • Quick-fit collared design reseals a joint without cutting out the surrounding finish
  • Surface or recessed mounting suits most wall and ceiling build-ups
  • Supplied cut to suit from rolls up to 25 m, so long runs need few or no splices
  • EPDM compound resists weather, UV and ozone — usable inside and outside
  • Stays elastic across a wide service range (EPDM approx. −60 °C to +125 °C per manufacturer)
  • Long indicative service life — D-Seal cites 20–50 years for correctly installed EPDM
  • Made in India by an ISO 9001/14001/45001-certified manufacturer, with profiles produced to your joint width, movement and colour

Limitations & considerations

  • It is a wall and ceiling weatherseal, not a trafficable floor system — floor joints need D-Seal profiles such as GatewaySeal or DuraEdge Seal
  • Joint faces must be sound and reasonably parallel; spalled or crumbling arrises need repair before the seal can grip
  • The profile must be sized to the actual gap and expected movement — undersized seals lose face contact, oversized ones can bow out of the joint
  • It carries no fire rating by itself; where compartment lines cross the joint, a certified fire barrier must be installed behind the seal
  • Not intended for joints under permanent water pressure — speak to us about alternative systems for water-retaining or submerged structures
  • Colour-matched profiles are made to order through D-Seal’s design facility, so confirm colour and lead time at enquiry

Selection & best practice

Start with a joint survey, not a catalogue: measure the gap at several points along each run, because construction joints are rarely uniform, and record the widest and narrowest readings along with the finish build-up on both sides. Share these with us so the profile is produced to the real joint. On site, clean the joint of old sealant, laitance and dust, and make good any broken edges — the seal needs two sound, parallel faces to press against. Cut each length from the roll with a small allowance rather than exactly to size, and never stretch the seal during installation: stretched EPDM slowly recovers, shrinking back to leave gaps at the ends of the run. Apply the adhesive lubricant, compress the profile evenly into the gap working along the run, then press the collar firmly and uniformly against the finish. At corners, mitre the profile instead of bending it around the arris. Decide between surface and recessed mounting before finishes are complete — recessing gives the flushest result but must be planned into the plaster or panel line. Our applicator teams can install EnduroSeal or supervise your contractor’s first run.

Industry use cases

Healthcare

Hospitals reseal corridor and ward wall joints with a wipeable, flush EPDM profile — installed quickly with minimal dust and disruption in live wards.

Retail & Commercial Fit-out

Malls and offices replace failed joint covers along long atrium and corridor runs during night shifts, with 25 m rolls keeping splices to a minimum.

Hospitality & Renovation

Hotels swap dated metal joint covers for a slim collared seal during renovation cycles, upgrading appearance without breaking out finishes.

High-rise Facades

Exterior wall joints facing harsh sun and monsoon rain are resealed with UV- and ozone-resistant EPDM that stays elastic through seasonal movement.

Transport & Institutional

Airports, metro stations and campuses use long single lengths on extended wall runs where joint continuity and fast installation are critical.

Frequently asked questions

What joint widths can EnduroSeal accommodate?
Profiles are made to suit. D-Seal’s in-house design facility produces the seal against your specified joint width, movement and colour, so send us a joint survey — gap measurements at several points along the run — and we will size it correctly.
Can it be fitted without breaking out the existing finish?
Yes — that is its main purpose. The profile compresses into the cleaned joint and the collar laps over the edges of the existing finish, so refurbishment jobs avoid demolition. It can also be recessed where a fully flush line is wanted in new work.
Is EnduroSeal suitable for exterior facade joints?
Yes. The EPDM compound is weather-, UV- and ozone-resistant and works on both interior and exterior wall and ceiling finishes. For Indian facade conditions — strong sun plus monsoon wetting — EPDM is one of the most durable elastomer choices available.
How is the seal supplied?
Cut to suit from rolls up to 25 metres long. Most corridor or facade runs can therefore be installed as one continuous length, which removes splice joints — the usual weak point in long seal runs.
Does Space Arc install it, or supply only?
Both. We are authorised distributor and applicator for D-Seal, so we can deliver cut-to-suit material to your contractor or install complete with our own teams across Delhi NCR and pan-India.
How long will an EPDM seal actually last?
D-Seal indicates 20 to 50 years for correctly installed EPDM. Real life depends on accurate sizing, sound joint edges and proper compression at installation — which is why we recommend a joint survey before ordering.

How we position D-Seal EnduroSeal

EnduroSeal is the right pick when existing wall or ceiling joints need fast, tidy resealing — but it is one member of a full D-Seal movement-joint family we stock. For trafficked floor joints, look at D-Seal GatewaySeal or DuraEdge Seal, or JointMaster where a load-rated aluminium cover plate is needed. Parking decks call for D-Seal ParkGuard or DriveFlex, roof joints for SkyBridge, and high-movement structures for SeismoMax. For small static joints that simply need a gun-applied sealant rather than a preformed profile, we also supply polyurethane and hybrid sealants from the Fosroc Nitoseal and Sika Sikaflex ranges. Tell us where the joint is and how it moves, and we will match the system honestly — including telling you when a simpler product will do.
