Sika AnchorFix-3030
Two-component epoxy injection adhesive with ETA approval for rebar and threaded-rod anchoring in cracked, uncracked, dry or damp concrete.
What is it?
A high-performance, two-part epoxy anchoring adhesive supplied in cartridges, used to bond threaded rods and reinforcing bars into drilled holes in concrete and masonry.
Where is it used?
Structural connections, post-installed rebar dowelling, base plates, brackets, handrails and balustrades on new-build and refurbishment sites.
Why use it?
It carries full ETA 17/0694 approval for cracked concrete and seismic categories C1 and C2, sets shrinkage-free, and works in damp holes where many polyester anchors will not.
How is it applied?
Drill and clean the hole, screw on a static mixer, inject from the base of the hole, then twist the anchor in within the open time and leave it undisturbed to cure.
About Sika AnchorFix-3030
Sika AnchorFix-3030 is the heavy-duty end of Sika’s chemical anchoring family, an epoxy resin based, two-component, thixotropic adhesive built for connections where the load path really matters. Unlike faster polyester or vinylester cartridges that suit routine fixings, this is a styrene-free epoxy formulated to develop high bond strength in both cracked and uncracked concrete, and it holds its European Technical Assessment (ETA 17/0694) for exactly that duty. On Indian sites it earns its place on the harder problems: post-installed rebar starter bars for slab or column extensions, safety-critical balustrade and bracket fixings, and machine or mast bases where pull-out failure is not an option.
For contractors and consultants, the practical appeal is its tolerance and design pedigree. It cures without shrinkage, bonds to damp concrete, and is seismic-tested to categories C1 and C2, so it stands up to specification on projects that face structural review or third-party audit. The 385 ml and 585 ml dual cartridges run through standard Sika application guns with a static mixer, and a long open time gives crews room to seat deep or multiple anchors before gel. It is also certified for contact with drinking water and rated fire-resistant, which widens its use into water-retaining structures and fire-engineered assemblies.
The technical insight
The performance comes from the epoxy chemistry and the bond mechanism it creates. Once Part A and Part B mix in the static nozzle at a 3:1 ratio by volume, the resin cures by cross-linking rather than by evaporation or radical chain reaction, so it hardens with effectively zero shrinkage and grips the full profile of the drilled hole. Load transfers from the anchor to the concrete almost entirely through this adhesive bond and mechanical keying against the rough drilled wall, which is why hole cleaning is non-negotiable, dust left in the hole becomes a bond breaker. Because the cured epoxy is stiff and strong (compressive strength around 95 N/mm2 and tensile modulus near 5,500 N/mm2 at seven days), it distributes stress into the surrounding concrete rather than yielding, and its ability to bridge and hold across cracks is what allows the ETA approval for cracked-concrete and seismic use. Open time and cure time are temperature-driven: gel arrives in about 6 minutes at 35-40 C but stretches past two hours in cold conditions, so crews plan injection speed around the day’s temperature.
Where it is used
- Post-installed reinforcing bar (rebar) connections for slab, beam and column extensions
- Anchoring threaded rods and bolts for structural steel brackets and base plates
- Safety-critical fixings for balustrades, railings, handrails and staircase supports
- Machine base, mast and equipment anchoring subject to dynamic or seismic loads
- Structural strengthening and refurbishment dowelling in existing concrete
- Fixings into cracked or uncracked concrete requiring ETA-approved design
- Anchoring in damp concrete and water-retaining structures rated for drinking-water contact
- Fastening window and door frames, carpentry and metalwork into masonry or stone
Key advantages
- Full ETA 17/0694 approval for bonded anchors in cracked and uncracked concrete
- Seismic tested to performance categories C1 and C2
- Cures shrinkage-free and bonds reliably in damp concrete
- High load capacity with ~95 N/mm2 compressive strength at 7 days
- Styrene-free, low-odour, low-emission (LEED-conforming) formulation
- Long open time gives crews room to seat deep or multiple anchors
- Certified for contact with drinking water and rated fire-resistant
- Non-sag consistency allows overhead and horizontal anchoring
Limitations & considerations
- Cure and open time slow sharply in cold weather; minimum cartridge temperature is +10 C
- Not intended for hollow blocks, use Sika AnchorFix-1 with sleeves instead
- Bond strength depends entirely on thorough hole cleaning (blow-brush-blow cycle)
- Performance on natural stone and solid rock varies and must be trial-tested for bond and staining
- Maximum layer thickness around the anchor is about 8 mm
- For expert use only; anchor design and embedment must follow the ETA and a qualified engineer
Selection & best practice
Success with AnchorFix-3030 is decided before any resin is injected. Drill the hole to the diameter and depth called for by the anchor design, then clean it with the full cycle the ETA requires: blow out with oil-free compressed air (about 6 bar) from the bottom of the hole at least twice, brush with an oversized steel brush at least twice, then blow again, repeating until the return air is dust-free. Discard the first pulls of adhesive until the extruded resin shows one consistent light-grey colour, confirming Part A and Part B are properly mixed. Inject from the base of the hole and slowly withdraw the nozzle so no air is trapped; for deep holes use an extension tube. Insert the anchor with a rotary motion within the open time (which shortens in hot weather), leave a little resin weeping from the mouth of the hole, and then do not move or load the anchor until the temperature-dependent cure time has fully elapsed. Substrate temperature must stay at least 3 C above dew point to avoid condensation on the bond surface.

How we position Sika AnchorFix-3030
Within the Sika range, AnchorFix-3030 is the top-tier epoxy choice; for lighter or faster uncracked-concrete fixings, Sika AnchorFix-2+ (styrene-free hybrid) or AnchorFix-1 for hollow blocks are the sensible step-downs, and Sika Colma Cleaner is the recommended tool cleaner. Pair it with Sika ancillaries, the AnchorFix cleaning pump, hole-cleaning brushes and static mixer nozzles, for a compliant installation. Where a project is standardised on other brands we distribute, comparable epoxy anchoring is offered by Hilti-style systems and by Fosroc’s Lokfix E-series; the honest counterpart in the Fosroc line is noted below. For the surrounding structural repair scope, this anchor sits naturally alongside Sika MonoTop repair mortars and Sikadur epoxy systems.
Fosroc Lokfix E35 — A specifier standardised on Fosroc for routine, uncracked-concrete fixings may prefer the faster, lower-cost polyester Lokfix E35, but for cracked-concrete, seismic or fire-rated duty AnchorFix-3030’s epoxy and ETA approval remain the stronger call.
