Who Sika is, in numbers that can be checked
Every figure here comes from Sika’s own reporting. Where Sika publishes nothing — India turnover, plant capacities, certificate scopes — we say nothing.
Sika’s first product, Sika-1, was a quick-setting waterproofing admixture used to waterproof the Gotthard Tunnel — the work that enabled electrification of the rail link between northern and southern Europe. The company still describes its signature yellow as a construction-site colour.
Sika AG reported net sales of CHF 11,201.3 million for FY2025 with EBITDA of CHF 2,064.7 million, and 33,707 employees. It is the largest pure-play construction-chemicals company by revenue.
Sika describes its business as systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protection, organised around eight target markets from concrete and waterproofing to roofing, flooring and engineered refurbishment.
The Indian business began in 1985 as Qualcrete India Limited, partnered with Sika AG in 1987 as Sika Qualcrete, and became Sika India Private Limited when Sika AG took full ownership in 2002.
Sika India lists manufacturing at Kalyani in West Bengal, two Rajasthan sites at Jaipur-Manda and Jaipur-Bagru, Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu and Jhagadia in Gujarat.
Sika acquired the MBCC Group, the former BASF construction-chemicals business, in May 2023. As a regulatory remedy Sika divested MBCC’s admixtures business in the US, Canada, Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand — a perimeter that did not include India.

Sika organises joint sealing by what the sealant has to stick to rather than by product: silicone for non-porous, polyurethane for porous, silane-modified hybrids where the adhesion range has to be wide. It is a small thing that prevents a large proportion of sealant failures.

In the mix
- A PCE superplasticiser and a workability-retaining plasticiser, so the pour is placeable and the concrete itself is dense rather than relying wholly on a sheet.
On the blinding
- A pre-applied membrane the wet concrete keys into, so a puncture leaks at the puncture instead of tracking to somewhere you cannot find.

The build-up

Substrate first
- Reinstate the section and protect the steel – carbon fibre needs sound concrete underneath it, and a wrap over a delaminated cover is decoration.
Then the system
- Plate bonding with a structural epoxy, or fabric wrap saturated in place, with anchorage designed rather than assumed.
Strengthening is an engineer-of-record decision. Send us the drawings and the loading case and we will supply the system and the design support – we do not quote a wrap off a photograph.
Chemistry to substrate

Why it matters
- An under-graded sealant fails in adhesion at the first real cycle, and a non-breathable coating traps moisture behind itself and blisters.

The floor is chosen by duty, not by finish
Ten resin chemistries exist because a pharmaceutical clean room, a cold store and a forklift aisle are three different problems. The failure is nearly always the substrate: laitance left on, or moisture never tested.
A facade needs a barrier and a seal, together
Anti-carbonation coatings and movement-joint sealants are usually bought separately and then fail together. Sika’s sealing logic starts from the substrate — silicone for non-porous, polyurethane for porous, hybrids where adhesion has to be wide.

Sika — frequently asked
Sika bought MBCC. Does that mean Master Builders Solutions is now Sika in India?
Not in the way most people assume, and it is worth being precise. Sika acquired the MBCC Group in May 2023, and as a competition remedy it divested MBCC’s admixtures business in the US, Canada, Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand — that divestment perimeter, as published by Sika, did not name India. The Master Builders Solutions brand itself went with the divested business. We supply both Sika and Master Builders Solutions lines and will tell you plainly which entity you are buying from on any given order rather than guessing at corporate structure on a web page.
Why do consultants write Sika into a specification by name?
Because you can specify a whole chain from one manufacturer and the layers are designed to bond to each other — the admixture in the mix, the membrane on the slab, the repair mortar, the strengthening system, the floor, the sealant in the joint. And because for the parts that need proving, Sika publishes the design basis: the CarboDur FRP design software works to ACI 440.2 and produces a transparent calculation an engineer can check.
Which Sikafloor do I need?
That question cannot be answered from a product list, which is the point of having ten resin chemistries. What decides it is the wheel type and turning bays, the chemistry that gets spilled, the washdown and hygiene regime, whether the floor sees thermal shock, and how long you can take the area out of service to cure. Send us those five things and we will put a build-up against them.
Can you supply the India-issue technical datasheet and the safety data sheet?
Yes, for any line, and we will send the current revision for the exact grade rather than a global PDF. Ask by product name; if you are writing a specification, ask early, because getting the right sheet in front of the consultant settles an argument later.
Is SikaWrap or CarboDur something you will just quote from a photograph?
No. Strengthening is an engineer-of-record decision. Send the drawings, the existing section and the loading case, and we will supply the system with design support behind it. Anyone quoting a carbon wrap off a site photo is selling you fabric, not capacity.
Do you stock all 316 Sika lines, or only the fast movers?
All 316 Sika lines we list are real, live product pages on this site. Fast-moving lines are held at our Ghaziabad base for Delhi NCR and dispatched pan-India; specialist grades are sourced against a released order with a stated lead time. If a consultant has specified something unusual, ask.
What does buying through an authorised distributor actually change?
Documentation and traceability. You get the manufacturer test certificate against the batch on request, batch and manufacturing date recorded on the dispatch and the invoice, and the correct region-issue datasheet. Space Arc Engineering is an authorised distributor and applicator — we are not Sika and we do not speak for Sika.
Can Space Arc apply the system, not just supply it?
Yes. We are an authorised applicator as well as a distributor, and our crews work to the manufacturer’s method statement. Where you self-perform, we can supply method statements and inspect on site.
