Sika Quartz-02 IN
Graded, cleaned and kiln-dried white quartz broadcast sand that builds slip resistance and abrasion resistance into Sikafloor epoxy and PU resin floors.
What is it?
A factory-graded, cleaned and kiln-dried white quartz sand (max grain 0.8 mm) used as the broadcast aggregate in resin flooring systems.
Where is it used?
Anti-skid resin floors in warehouses, ramps, loading bays, food and beverage plants, pharma units and wet-process wash-down areas.
Why use it?
Its uniform gradation gives a predictable textured, slip-resistant and abrasion-resistant finish, and being inert it does not interfere with resin curing.
How is it applied?
Broadcast to excess into the freshly applied resin base coat, then vacuum off the loose sand and seal with the system topcoat.
About Sika Quartz-02 IN
Sika Quartz-02 IN is not a floor on its own; it is the aggregate that turns a smooth resin coat into a hard-wearing, slip-resistant working surface. The sand is cleaned and kiln-dried under factory control, then sieved to a tight gradation with a maximum grain size of 0.8 mm. That consistency matters on site, because the texture of a broadcast floor is only as uniform as the sand thrown into it. Damp or dirty aggregate leaves cure defects, patchy grip and colour flaws, which is exactly what this dried, inert quartz is engineered to avoid.
On an Indian project the same bag serves two jobs. Broadcast into the wet base coat of a Sikafloor MultiDur EB or ET system, it produces the textured anti-skid finish that warehouses, ramps and wet-process floors are specified for. Blended into an epoxy site-batch mortar, it works as a quality filler that gives body and compressive strength without disturbing the resin chemistry. Space Arc Engineering supplies it as an authorised Sika channel partner across Delhi NCR and pan-India, so applicators can source the aggregate and the matching Sikafloor resin from a single point.
The technical insight
A broadcast floor works on mechanical anchorage, not chemistry. When dry quartz is scattered to refusal into the wet resin base coat, each grain part-embeds and part-projects above the film. After the resin cures and the excess is vacuumed off, a sealer coat locks the exposed grains in place, leaving a micro-textured surface of hard quartz peaks. Those peaks are what a boot sole or tyre grips, and because quartz sits around Mohs 7 it resists the scuffing and point-loading that would polish a plain resin film smooth. The tight 0.8 mm gradation keeps that texture even, so slip resistance is repeatable panel to panel rather than a lottery of coarse and fine patches. Kiln drying is the quiet part that makes it all work: trapped moisture in aggregate can blister an epoxy or leave uncured soft spots, so a dried, inert sand protects the cure while it builds the profile.
Where it is used
- Anti-skid broadcast finishes in warehouses, ramps and loading bays
- Slip-resistant resin floors in food, beverage and pharmaceutical plants
- Wet-process areas, wash-down bays and cold-room approaches
- Texture coat for Sikafloor MultiDur EB and ET epoxy systems
- Quality filler in epoxy site-batch repair and screed mortars
- Commercial kitchens, dairies and process workshops needing wet grip
- Vehicle-trafficked internal floors requiring abrasion resistance
- Machine-shop and assembly bays where oil and water reduce underfoot grip
Key advantages
- Uniform 0.8 mm gradation gives an even, repeatable anti-skid texture
- Cleaned and kiln-dried, so it protects the resin cure and colour
- Inert quartz that does not react with or soften epoxy or PU resins
- Builds both slip resistance and long-term abrasion resistance
- Dual purpose: broadcast aggregate and mortar filler from one bag
- Compatible across the Sikafloor MultiDur EB and ET resin range
- Consistent factory quality removes the guesswork of site-sourced sand
- 24-month shelf life gives comfortable buffer for phased flooring works
Limitations & considerations
- Not a standalone product; it needs a compatible Sikafloor resin base and sealer
- Broadcast consumption is not fixed here and must follow the specific Sikafloor system data sheet
- White quartz colour is the aggregate only; final floor colour comes from the resin
- Must be kept dry on site, as any moisture pickup can cause cure and adhesion defects
- Grain size is fixed at 0.8 mm max, so very coarse or ultra-fine textures need a different grade
- Provides mechanical grip, not chemical resistance, which is a function of the resin system chosen
Selection & best practice
Store the bags sealed and off the floor in dry conditions at +5 C to +30 C, and only open them at the point of use so the sand stays bone dry. Broadcast to excess, scattering the quartz vertically so it rains down evenly and floats a full sand layer over the wet resin rather than landing in drifts. Let the base coat cure, then vacuum off all loose, unbonded grains before applying the sealer coat; skipping this leaves dusting and weak spots. Always take the actual broadcast and seal rates from the relevant Sikafloor MultiDur EB or ET system data sheet, since consumption changes with the texture and duty being specified. On repair mortars, gauge the quartz into the mixed epoxy in the ratio the system sheet gives, and mix only what can be placed within pot life.

How we position Sika Quartz-02 IN
Sika Quartz-02 IN belongs to the Sikafloor resin-flooring family and is best specified alongside its own system components: a Sikafloor MultiDur EB or ET base coat as the broadcast bed, and a matching Sikafloor sealer or topcoat to lock the grains in. For deeper builds, pair it with Sikafloor epoxy resins used as site-batch mortars, where this quartz doubles as the filler. Where a project runs on Fosroc resin systems instead, the equivalent broadcast media is Fosroc Nitoflor Anti-Slip Grains. Space Arc supplies both the Sika and Fosroc lines, so the aggregate can always be matched to the resin family already chosen for the job rather than mixing brands mid-system.
Fosroc Nitoflor Anti-Slip Grains — Choose the Fosroc grains when the floor is already built on a Fosroc Nitoflor resin system, so the broadcast aggregate stays within the same warranted brand family.
