Fosroc Cemtop HS
Single-component, polymer-modified cementitious topping that rebuilds worn industrial floors at 15-40 mm and power-floats to a hard, level wearing surface exceeding 50 MPa.
What is it?
A factory pre-blended, high-strength cementitious floor topping modified with polymers, supplied as a single-component powder in 25 kg bags and gauged with water on site.
Where is it used?
Warehouses, production halls, workshops and commercial refurbishments where a worn, dusting or deteriorated concrete slab needs a new 15-40 mm wearing surface.
Why use it?
It develops over 50 MPa compressive strength with fast early strength gain, so heavily trafficked floors go back into service without full slab reconstruction.
How is it applied?
Laid over mechanically prepared concrete – primed with Nitobond EP for bonded work – then compacted, levelled and power-floated to a flat, hard finish.
About Fosroc Cemtop HS
Cemtop HS is Fosroc’s high-strength answer to a problem every Indian plant engineer eventually faces: a structurally sound slab whose surface has been ground away by forklifts, trolleys and abrasion until it dusts, ravels and holds water. Rather than breaking out the floor, Cemtop HS rebuilds the top 15-40 mm. Because it arrives factory pre-blended in 25 kg bags, the cement, graded aggregates and polymer content are controlled at the plant – you get the same mix in the last bag as the first, which site-batched sand-cement screeds simply cannot match. Placed bonded over Nitobond EP or laid unbonded, it is compacted and power-floated to a flat, level surface exceeding 50 MPa at 28 days.
Space Arc Engineering supplies Cemtop HS across Delhi NCR and Pan-India as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator. We treat it as a system, not a bag of powder: substrate testing, mechanical preparation, Nitobond EP priming, placement and power-float finishing by trained crews, with Nitoflor resin finishes added where the duty demands chemical resistance or hygiene.
The technical insight
The performance comes from two things working together. First, polymer modification: as the cement hydrates, redispersed polymers coalesce into a film threaded through the cement matrix. That film improves adhesion to the primed substrate, reduces bleed and shrinkage-related microcracking, and gives the topping toughness a plain sand-cement screed lacks. Second, dense particle packing: factory-graded aggregates fill the void structure so the hardened topping resists abrasion at the surface rather than wearing preferentially at weak spots. Power floating then closes and compacts the top few millimetres, further tightening the wearing zone. The result behaves monolithically with the base slab when bonded through Nitobond EP – loads transfer into the parent concrete instead of shearing the interface, which is why substrate strength (minimum 25 MPa) and surface preparation are non-negotiable parts of the specification.
Where it is used
- Resurfacing worn, dusting or ravelled warehouse and factory floors at 15-40 mm
- New industrial floor toppings over base slabs, laid bonded or unbonded
- Reinstating forklift aisles, dispatch areas and loading zones in distribution centres
- Level correction and re-profiling of retail and commercial floors before fit-out
- Hard-wearing toppings in workshops, machine shops and heavy engineering bays
- High-strength substrate build-up beneath Nitoflor epoxy coatings and screeds
- Thick levelling base under tiles or resin flooring where deep correction is needed
Key advantages
- Compressive strength above 50 MPa at 28 days – a genuine heavy-duty wearing surface
- Factory pre-blended single component: only water is added on site, so batch-to-batch quality is consistent
- Fast strength gain allows rapid return to service in working facilities
- Bonds monolithically to prepared concrete through Nitobond EP epoxy primer
- Power-floatable to a flat, level, closed finish
- Wide 15-40 mm application window covers both thin overlays and deep regrades
- Accepts Nitoflor epoxy finishes where chemical resistance or hygiene coatings are specified
Limitations & considerations
- Minimum thickness is 15 mm – it cannot be feather-edged; thin corrections need a self-smoothing underlayment instead
- As a cementitious surface it has limited resistance to acids and aggressive chemicals; overcoat with a resin system where spillage is expected
- Bonded performance depends entirely on the substrate: concrete below 25 MPa compressive strength or contaminated slabs must be repaired first
- Requires mechanical preparation (shot blasting or scarifying to CSP 3-5) and skilled power-float finishing – not a general-labour job
- Joints in the topping must follow joints in the base slab; ignoring them risks reflective cracking
Selection & best practice
Start with the slab, not the bag. Confirm the base concrete is at least 25 MPa and mechanically prepare it – shot blasting or scarifying to a CSP 3-5 profile – removing every trace of laitance, curing compound, oil and loose material. For bonded work, prime with Nitobond EP and place Cemtop HS while the primer is still tacky so the topping keys into a live bond coat, never onto a cured film. Mix mechanically to a uniform consistency, place to levels, compact well and screed off, then power float in the correct window – too early tears the surface, too late will not close it. In North Indian summers, shield fresh work from direct sun and drying winds and cure properly; rapid moisture loss is the main cause of surface weakness. Set out joints to mirror the substrate joints before pouring, not after. Space Arc’s applicator crews handle the full sequence, and we recommend a trial panel on large refurbishments.

Industry use cases
Warehousing & Logistics
Resurfacing racking aisles, dispatch bays and dock approaches where MHE traffic has worn the slab – phased pours keep the facility operational while sections return to service quickly.
Manufacturing & Engineering
Rebuilding machine-shop and assembly-hall floors that take point loads, trolley traffic and impact, with a 50 MPa+ surface that outlasts site-batched screed repairs.
Retail & Commercial Refurbishment
Deep level correction of uneven slabs during mall and showroom refits, producing a flat base ready for tiles, stone or resin finishes.
Automotive & Transport
Hard-wearing toppings for service bays, workshops and inspection areas where jacks, tools and vehicle movement punish ordinary screeds.
Food, Pharma & FMCG
High-strength substrate beneath Nitoflor resin systems, giving hygienic coating specifications a sound, level, load-bearing base.

How we position Fosroc Cemtop HS
Cemtop HS sits at the heavy end of Fosroc’s floor-rebuilding range: choose it when the slab needs 15-40 mm of genuine structural wearing surface, not just smoothing. Specify Nitobond EP as the bond coat on every bonded pour, and move up to Nitoflor epoxy screeds and coatings where chemical attack, hygiene or colour coding drive the specification. Where the parent concrete itself is spalled or delaminating, repair first with the Fosroc Renderoc range. Space Arc also stocks Sika and Dr. Fixit flooring and repair systems, so we can compare options honestly against your loading, downtime and budget.
