Nitocote EP405 — Two-Component Epoxy Lining for Chemical Resistant Concrete Protection

Nitocote EP405

Two-Component Epoxy Lining for Chemical Resistant Concrete Protection

Authorized Project Distributor — Fosroc India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad

Product Overview

Nitocote EP405 is a two-component, solvent-free, pigmented epoxy resin lining system for the protection of concrete surfaces against chemical attack and liquid penetration in harsh industrial and water treatment environments. Unlike general-purpose epoxy floor coatings (such as Nitoflor FC140), Nitocote EP405 is specifically formulated for application in immersed or chemically aggressive conditions — such as the interior of water storage tanks, sewage holding tanks, effluent treatment plant structures, chemical storage sumps, and industrial containment bunds where the concrete surface must resist sustained liquid contact, chemical attack, and continuous water immersion. Applied in two or three coats to achieve a minimum 500 to 750 micron total DFT, the cured Nitocote EP405 system provides a dense, low-porosity, chemically resistant epoxy barrier between the concrete substrate and the stored liquid or chemical environment. It is rated for contact with a wide range of dilute acids, alkalis, water, sewage, and food-grade liquids. Nitocote EP405 can also be used for potable water tank lining subject to current certification status for the specific liquid being stored. Space Arc Engineering distributes Nitocote EP405 for water treatment, industrial, and sewage infrastructure projects across Delhi NCR and Northern India.

Applications

  • Internal lining of potable water storage tanks and sumps
  • Sewage collection tank and wet well lining protection
  • Effluent treatment plant concrete structure protection
  • Chemical storage bund and secondary containment lining
  • Internal protection of irrigation and water distribution structures
  • Industrial sump and pit lining for chemical resistance

Key Advantages

  • Solvent-free — safe for use in enclosed confined space tanks
  • Excellent chemical resistance to a wide range of industrial liquids
  • Low porosity dense film prevents liquid penetration into concrete
  • Two-component system for consistent quality after mixing
  • Can be applied to damp (but not wet) concrete surfaces
  • Part of the proven Fosroc Nitocote chemical resistant coating range

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Nitocote EP405 be applied to wet or damp concrete tank surfaces?

Nitocote EP405 can tolerate slightly damp (not dry) concrete surfaces during application, which is a practical advantage in tank environments. However, the surface must not have free standing water, active water seepage, or be saturated — these conditions will prevent proper epoxy adhesion and may cause the lining to fail by blistering or delamination. Active leaks must be sealed first with Nitofill UR63 or Renderoc Plug before lining application.

Is Nitocote EP405 approved for potable water contact?

Fosroc produces epoxy lining products certified for potable water contact. Confirmation of current certification status for Nitocote EP405 in India for potable water applications should be obtained from Space Arc Engineering at the time of specification, as approvals vary by formulation and region. For water storage tanks, an independently certified potable-water-safe epoxy lining is an important specification requirement.

How many coats of Nitocote EP405 are required for a chemical resistant tank lining?

A minimum of two coats of Nitocote EP405 are required to achieve a pinhole-free lining. Three coats are recommended for immersed conditions and where chemical resistance is critical. Each coat should be applied when the previous coat has cured sufficiently to overcoat but before full cure (typically 12 to 24 hours at 25 degrees C). A holiday detection test (spark testing) on the completed lining is recommended to verify pinhole-free coverage in critical applications.
