Fosroc Nitocote CM110
Two-component, polymer-modified cementitious waterproofing coating that cures to a tough, impermeable membrane on concrete, brickwork and masonry — brush, trowel or spray applied.
What is it?
A two-component (liquid polymer + cementitious powder) polymer-modified waterproofing coating from Fosroc, supplied in slurry form, that cures to an impermeable, well-bonded membrane on concrete and masonry.
Where is it used?
Roofs, sunken floors, toilets and bathrooms, terraces, balconies, water tanks and reservoirs, swimming pools, basements and bridge substructures — anywhere a brushable/sprayable cementitious waterproof barrier is needed.
Why use it?
It bonds directly to damp concrete and masonry, needs no separate primer for most substrates, breathes, resists carbonation and waterborne salts, and is non-toxic — making it suitable for potable-water-contact structures.
How is it applied?
Site-mix the powder into the liquid with a slow-speed drill and paddle, then apply in two coats by brush, trowel or spray over a saturated-surface-dry, sound substrate, with the second coat applied at right angles to the first.
About Fosroc Nitocote CM110
Fosroc Nitocote CM110 is a two-component, polymer-modified cementitious waterproofing coating supplied in slurry form. It is built around a liquid acrylic-polymer dispersion that is blended on site with a pre-packaged cementitious powder; once mixed and applied, the polymer and cement phases co-cure to form a continuous, well-bonded, impermeable membrane that protects the substrate against water ingress, carbonation and the diffusion of aggressive salts. Unlike a brush-applied liquid membrane that simply sits on top of the concrete, CM110 is effectively part of the surface — it chemically and mechanically keys into the substrate, which is why it tolerates damp backgrounds and resists peeling.\n\nThe product sits in Fosroc’s well-known Nitocote family of protective and waterproof coatings, positioned as the practical, economical cementitious grade for everyday building-waterproofing duties. It is intended for concrete, brick and blockwork and is applied by brush, trowel or spray, making it equally at home in a wet shaft, a sunken toilet slab, an overhead tank or a basement retaining wall. Because it is cement-based, the cured film is breathable and vapour-permeable, so it does not trap construction moisture the way some sealed plastic membranes can. It is also non-toxic when cured, which is the reason cementitious coatings of this type are routinely specified for the inside faces of water-retaining and potable-water structures.\n\nFor specifiers and contractors in India, CM110 is most useful as a dependable, trade-friendly waterproofing layer: forgiving to mix, easy to recoat, compatible with subsequent screeds, tile beds and protective renders, and backed by Fosroc’s nationwide technical and supply network through authorised distributors such as Space Arc Engineering across Delhi NCR and pan-India.
The technical insight
CM110 works because of the polymer-to-cement bond, not film thickness alone. The acrylic polymer in the liquid component does three jobs at once: it dramatically reduces the permeability of the hardened cement matrix, it improves adhesion to a saturated-surface-dry (SSD) substrate, and it adds enough flexibility for the film to ride over fine surface crazing without delaminating. The substrate is deliberately pre-wetted to SSD condition so the dry concrete does not pull mixing water out of the slurry and starve the cement of hydration — this is the single most common cause of dusting or poor adhesion in the field. Two coats are applied with the second at right angles to the first, which closes pinholes and ensures continuous coverage; the cementitious chemistry then allows it to breathe, releasing substrate vapour while still blocking liquid water under positive head. As a cementitious coating, CM110 is best understood as a barrier-and-protection layer for static or low-movement situations: it is excellent against water, carbonation and salt diffusion, but it is not a high-elongation crack-bridging elastomer. Where a structure has live, moving cracks or needs WRAS-grade potable-water certification with high hydrostatic resistance, Fosroc’s elastomeric Nitocote CM210 — tested to BS 6920 and BS 8007 crack accommodation, resisting 5 bar positive and 2 bar negative water pressure at two coats of 1 mm DFT — is the engineered step-up. Choosing correctly between the two is the key specification decision in this product family.
Where it is used
- Waterproofing of RCC roof slabs, terraces and balconies before screed or tiling
- Sunken portions of toilets, bathrooms and WCs (internal tanking before backfill)
- Internal and external faces of water tanks, sumps, overhead and underground reservoirs
- Swimming pool shells and water features
- Basement retaining walls, lift pits and cellars (positive-side waterproofing)
- Brick and block masonry that requires a continuous waterproof render-coat
- Protection of concrete bridge and structure elements against water and carbonation attack
- General concrete protection against waterborne chlorides and sulphates
Key advantages
- Bonds directly to green or damp concrete and masonry — no separate primer needed on most substrates
- Cementitious and breathable, so it does not trap construction moisture in the slab
- Applied by brush, trowel or spray, suiting both small wet areas and large open decks
- Non-toxic when cured — suitable for the inside of water-retaining and potable-water structures
- Forms an effective barrier to water, carbonation and aggressive salts (chlorides/sulphates)
- Site-mixed from pre-packaged components, minimising on-site batching error
- Compatible with subsequent screeds, tile adhesives and protective renders
- Backed by Fosroc’s pan-India technical support and authorised-distributor supply
Limitations & considerations
- Cementitious coating — it tolerates only fine, static cracks; not a high-elongation membrane for live/moving cracks (use elastomeric Nitocote CM210 instead)
- Requires a sound, clean, saturated-surface-dry substrate; dusty, oily or laitance-covered concrete must be mechanically prepared first
- Has a limited pot life once mixed; the slurry must be used promptly and not re-tempered with extra water
- Needs proper moist curing — premature drying in hot, windy Indian conditions causes dusting and weak adhesion
- Two correctly applied coats at the specified consumption are essential; thin or single-coat application leaves pinholes
- Not a wearing surface — exposed areas with traffic need a screed, tile or protective topping
- Verify the exact pack size, coverage and DFT against the current region-specific Fosroc datasheet before ordering, as these can differ by market
Selection & best practice
Prepare aggressively and cure patiently. Mechanically clean the concrete to remove laitance, curing compound, oil and dust, then cut out and pre-fill blowholes and form a cove fillet at all wall-to-floor junctions and around pipe penetrations. Bring the surface to a saturated-surface-dry condition — damp but with no standing water — before the first coat. Mix only as much slurry as can be applied within the pot life, using a slow-speed drill and paddle to a lump-free, brushable consistency, and never add extra water to extend workability. Apply in two coats, letting the first set firm enough to walk on before applying the second at right angles to it, and maintain the manufacturer’s wet/dry film thickness over the full area. After application, protect the green coating from rain, direct sun and drying wind, and moist-cure it; on water-retaining structures, allow full cure before filling and testing. Always confirm coverage, coat count and curing times against the current Fosroc datasheet for your region and, on critical or potable-water jobs, involve Fosroc/Space Arc technical support at the method-statement stage.

How we position Fosroc Nitocote CM110
Within Fosroc’s range, Nitocote CM110 is the practical, economical cementitious waterproofing grade and the natural companion to higher-end Nitocote options: where a structure has live or moving cracks, or needs certified potable-water performance and high hydrostatic resistance, the elastomeric Nitocote CM210 (BS 6920/WRAS, BS 8007 crack accommodation, 5 bar positive / 2 bar negative) is the engineered step-up, while damaged or honeycombed concrete should first be reinstated with a Fosroc Renderoc repair mortar and integral-waterproofed concrete can use Conplast admixtures. Against the wider Indian market, CM110 competes directly with two-component polymer-modified cementitious coatings such as Sika SikaTop Seal-107, MYK/MBS latex cementitious systems, Dr. Fixit’s Fastcoat/Pidicrete-based cementitious coatings and STP cementitious slurries — all credible, widely specified alternatives in the same class. The honest positioning is that CM110 is not a one-size-fits-all answer: it is an excellent breathable, salt- and carbonation-resistant barrier for static substrates and routine building waterproofing, but for structures with significant movement, exposed trafficked decks or aggressive chemical exposure, an elastomeric or specialist coating should be specified. As an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator, Space Arc Engineering can help specifiers in Delhi NCR and pan-India select the correct grade, supply genuine matched packs, and confirm the current region-specific coverage, pack size and curing data before any order is placed.
