D-Seal LoadMaster
A heavy-load floor-to-floor expansion joint system built to carry pneumatic and solid-tyre vehicular traffic across parking decks, warehouses and industrial floors — with an optional stainless-steel wear plate for punishing service.
What is it?
A surface-mounted, floor-to-floor mechanical expansion joint system from D-Seal, with extruded aluminium frames (alloy 6063, ASTM B221-02) and an optional stainless-steel cover plate for heavy vehicular duty.
Where is it used?
Structural movement joints in multi-level and basement car parks, warehouses, distribution centres, loading bays and industrial floors that see forklift and light-truck traffic.
Why use it?
It keeps the floor surface flush and trafficable across the joint gap while the structure moves, and it survives solid-tyre wheel loads that destroy sealant-only or light-duty joint treatments.
How is it applied?
Frames are anchored to prepared concrete on both sides of the joint gap with vehicular-rated anchors, and the cover plate is set flush with the finished floor so wheels cross without a lip or impact.
About D-Seal LoadMaster
Every suspended slab, podium deck and long warehouse floor has structural movement joints, and those joints are exactly where forklifts, tow trucks and cars concentrate their wheel loads. D-Seal LoadMaster addresses this weak point with a purpose-built floor-to-floor joint cover: extruded aluminium side frames manufactured to ASTM B221-02 in alloy 6063, anchored across the gap and finished flush so vehicles transit without a lip. Where abrasion is severe — solid-tyre forklifts, pallet trucks, trolley wheels — a stainless-steel cover plate option adds a harder wearing surface over the same frame system. The manufacturer operates under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certified systems.
Space Arc Engineering supplies and installs the full D-Seal expansion joint range as an authorised distributor and applicator, serving Delhi NCR directly and project sites Pan-India. We help consultants and contractors match the joint profile to the actual gap width, movement design and traffic class on the drawing — the step that most often decides whether a floor joint lasts or fails — and back supply with trained installation crews.
The technical insight
A floor joint fails in two ways: the structure moves and the cover cannot follow, or a wheel load hits an edge and progressively breaks out the concrete arris. LoadMaster tackles both. The anchored aluminium frames transfer wheel loads away from the vulnerable concrete edge and into the slab through anchors rated for vehicular loading, while the cover assembly spans the gap and accommodates thermal expansion, shrinkage and braking-induced movement without losing its flush profile. The distinction between pneumatic and solid tyres matters more than most specifiers realise: a solid forklift tyre delivers several times the contact pressure of a car tyre on a fraction of the footprint, so plate stiffness, frame support and anchor integrity — not just the quoted load figure — govern real-world life. That is why the system is explicitly rated for both tyre types, and why the stainless-steel plate option exists for the highest-abrasion duty.
Where it is used
- Movement joints in multi-level and basement parking structures
- Warehouse and distribution-centre floors with forklift and pallet-truck traffic
- Industrial plant floors carrying solid-tyre material-handling equipment
- Loading bays and goods-receiving aprons
- Ramps and drive aisles with slow vehicular traffic
- Podium decks and suspended slabs in commercial developments
- Transport depots, workshops and vehicle service floors
Key advantages
- Rated for both pneumatic and solid-tyre wheel loads — covers cars through forklifts
- Flush floor-to-floor profile: no lip, no wheel impact, no trip hazard
- Extruded aluminium frames to ASTM B221-02, alloy 6063, resist corrosion in parking environments
- Optional stainless-steel cover plate for high-abrasion, high-frequency traffic zones
- Anchors rated for vehicular loading protect the concrete joint edge from break-out
- Cost-effective against premium joint systems where duty is heavy but not seismic
- Manufactured under ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 and 45001:2018 certified systems
- Straightforward to inspect and maintain over the service life
Limitations & considerations
- Gap width and movement capacity must be matched to the structural design — confirm the specific LoadMaster profile against your joint schedule before ordering
- The trafficable cover alone is not a waterproofing element; where watertightness is required below the joint, a compatible seal or drainage detail must be specified separately
- Surface-mounted frames need sound, level concrete edges — spalled or weak arrises must first be rebuilt with a repair mortar
- Not intended for high-speed vehicular traffic; it is designed for parking, warehouse and industrial speeds
- For joints with significant seismic or multi-directional movement, an all-metal seismic system such as D-Seal SeismoGuard 100 is the correct choice instead
- Fasteners and wear zones need periodic inspection — it is a mechanical system, not a fit-and-forget sealant
Selection & best practice
Survey the joint before anything is ordered: measure the actual gap along its full length (it rarely matches the drawing everywhere), confirm expected movement with the structural consultant, and identify the worst traffic case — usually a loaded solid-tyre forklift, not the heaviest truck. Rebuild damaged joint edges with a suitable cementitious or epoxy repair mortar and let it reach strength before anchoring. Set frames to the finished floor level, not the screed level, so the plate sits genuinely flush; a 2–3 mm proud edge is where wheel impact damage starts. Use the vehicular-rated anchors as specified, torqued per the installation guideline, and protect the joint from construction traffic until handover. In service, keep the joint clear of debris, wash with neutral detergent (never acidic cleaners on aluminium), and inspect fasteners and wear zones on a scheduled maintenance cycle.

Industry use cases
Parking Structures
Deck and ramp movement joints in multi-level and basement car parks, where braking forces, turning loads and constant tyre traffic demand a flush, anchored joint cover rather than a sealant-filled gap.
Warehousing & Logistics
Distribution-centre floors where solid-tyre forklifts and pallet trucks cross structural joints hundreds of times a shift — the stainless-steel plate option earns its cost here.
Manufacturing Plants
Industrial floors with material-handling traffic between bays, where a broken joint edge halts equipment movement and a flush LoadMaster profile keeps operations running.
Commercial Developments
Podium slabs and basement service floors in malls, offices and mixed-use projects, where the joint must carry occasional vehicles while staying safe for trolleys and foot traffic.
Transport & Fleet Facilities
Bus depots, vehicle workshops and loading aprons where slow, heavy, repetitive wheel passes over the same joint line demand anchored edge protection.

How we position D-Seal LoadMaster
Within the D-Seal family, LoadMaster is the cost-effective heavy-duty choice for vehicular floor joints. Step up to D-Seal ParkGuard where a dedicated parking-deck joint with EPDM seals and ASTM 6063 T6 aluminium is specified, or D-Seal JointMaster where a recess-mounted cover with a free-floating centre plate (1000 kg point load) suits the finish. For pedestrian-dominant buildings — airports, hospitals, convention centres — D-Seal StarGuard is the better fit, and for three-directional seismic movement, D-Seal SeismoGuard 100. Around the joint itself, we pair the system with Fosroc or Sika repair mortars for edge rebuilding and Sika or Fosroc joint sealants where adjacent non-trafficked joints need sealing.
