MC-Bauchemie MC-Dur 1200
A two-component pigmented epoxy resin coating built for warehouses, workshops and production floors that face constant traffic, spillage and abrasion.
What is it?
A two-component, pigmented epoxy resin floor coating from MC-Bauchemie, applied over mineral substrates at layer thicknesses of 1 to 6 mm.
Where is it used?
Warehouses, production halls, workshops, store rooms and similar heavy-duty industrial floors, plus grouting of steel anchors.
Why use it?
It delivers increased mechanical and chemical resistance in a durable, cleanable film, and can be filled and broadcast for greater thickness or slip resistance.
How is it applied?
Prime with MC-Dur 1200 VK and a scratch coat, then trowel or squeegee the resin, deaerate with a spiked roller, and finish as a smooth or quartz-broadcast surface.
About MC-Bauchemie MC-Dur 1200
MC-Dur 1200 is MC-Bauchemie’s workhorse epoxy floor coating for buildings where the floor takes a beating. It is supplied as two components, a pigmented base and a hardener, that are blended on site in a fixed 3:1 ratio by mass and laid over prepared mineral substrates. Depending on the specification, the same product can be used as a thin sealing film or built up between 1 and 6 mm, which lets a single material cover everything from a light-duty store room to a production hall carrying forklifts and pallet trucks. Because it is a reactive resin rather than a paint, the cured film bonds tightly to the concrete and behaves as a hard-wearing, chemically resistant surface rather than a sacrificial topcoat.
For Indian projects, that versatility is the real selling point. Contractors working across pharmaceutical units, engineering workshops, godowns and process plants often need one coating system that can be adjusted on the floor rather than a shelf full of specialist products. MC-Dur 1200 answers that: fill it with oven-dried quartz sand for higher thickness, broadcast aggregate into a fresh coat for grip, or add MC-Stellmittel TX 19 thixotropic agent to take it up walls and ramps. Space Arc Engineering supplies MC-Dur 1200 as an authorised distributor across Delhi NCR and pan-India, alongside the primer and ancillaries the system needs to perform as the manufacturer intends.
The technical insight
The performance of MC-Dur 1200 comes from its cured epoxy matrix. When the base and hardener are combined at 3:1 by mass, the amine hardener cross-links the epoxy resin into a dense, three-dimensional polymer network that is chemically bonded to the substrate rather than merely adhered on top. That network is what gives the film its increased mechanical and chemical resistance: the tight cross-link density resists abrasion and point loads, while the closed surface makes the floor easy to clean and far less porous than bare concrete. The fresh mix has a viscosity of around 1,900 mPa·s at 20°C, which is why it is deaerated with a spiked roller after laying, air trapped during trowelling escapes before the resin gels. Cure is temperature-driven: at 20°C the coating is accessible after roughly 12 hours and reaches full resilience after 7 days, so most of the chemical and mechanical resistance develops in the days after the floor looks touch-dry.
Where it is used
- Seamless epoxy floor coatings in warehouses, godowns and distribution centres
- Production halls and manufacturing floors subject to trolley, pallet-truck and forklift traffic
- Engineering workshops, tool rooms and maintenance bays with oil and mechanical exposure
- Store rooms and staging areas needing a hard, cleanable surface
- Higher-build screeds where the resin is filled with oven-dried quartz sand for extra thickness
- Anti-slip finishes created by broadcasting coarse quartz sand into the fresh coat
- Grouting of steel anchors and baseplate bedding in industrial settings
- Sloped ramps and vertical faces when combined with MC-Stellmittel TX 19 thixotropic agent
Key advantages
- Two-component epoxy delivering high mechanical and chemical resistance in one system
- Flexible build from thin coating up to 1 to 6 mm layers over mineral substrates
- Can be filled with quartz sand for thickness or broadcast for slip resistance
- Pigmented finish available in MC-grey and several standard RAL shades
- Dense, closed film that is easy to clean and less porous than bare concrete
- Practical working time of 30 to 40 minutes per batch at 20°C for site handling
- Suitable for horizontal, sloped and vertical areas with the thixotropic agent
- Long 18-month shelf life in cool, dry, frost-free storage for planned procurement
Limitations & considerations
- Not an anti-carbonation or facade coating; it is an industrial floor coating, specify a different MC-Bauchemie product for concrete-protection duty
- Requires priming with MC-Dur 1200 VK and correct substrate preparation, it cannot be applied straight onto raw concrete
- Working time is short, only 30 to 40 minutes at 20°C, so mixed material must be laid promptly
- Application is restricted to 8°C to 30°C, below 85% humidity and at least 3 K above dew point
- Exposure to chemicals and UV light can cause colour changes, appearance may shift even where performance is unaffected
- As a reactive resin it demands trained applicators and correct deaeration to avoid pinholes and blisters
Selection & best practice
Start with a sound, prepared mineral substrate and prime with MC-Dur 1200 VK, followed by a scratch coat of the primer and oven-dried quartz sand where the manufacturer’s system calls for it. Apply MC-Dur 1200 roughly 12 to 24 hours after the scratch coat using a steel float, adjustable screeding tool or rubber squeegee, then deaerate crosswise with a spiked roller so trapped air escapes before gelling. For layers above 1 mm, fill the resin with oven-dried quartz sand (0.1 to 0.3 mm) at 1:0.5 by weight; for anti-slip floors, broadcast coarser sand (roughly 5 to 6 kg/m2) into the fresh coat, remove the loose grain after curing, and apply the top sealer. Keep air, substrate and material between 8°C and 30°C, humidity at or below 85%, and stay at least 3 K above the dew point throughout. Mix only what can be laid within the working time and allow the full 7-day cure before exposing the floor to heavy chemical or mechanical loads.

Industry use cases
Warehousing & Logistics
A seamless, cleanable epoxy floor for godowns and distribution centres that carry constant pallet-truck and forklift movement without dusting or wearing through.
Manufacturing & Engineering
Durable coating for production halls, workshops and tool rooms where oils, mechanical impact and abrasion would quickly degrade an untreated concrete slab.
Pharma & Food Processing
A dense, low-porosity surface that resists chemical spillage and is easy to wash down, laid thicker or with an anti-slip broadcast where hygiene and grip matter.
Process & Chemical Plants
Higher-build, quartz-filled screeds that give the mechanical and chemical resistance needed on floors exposed to periodic wet and aggressive service.

How we position MC-Bauchemie MC-Dur 1200
MC-Dur 1200 sits in the mid-to-heavy band of MC-Bauchemie’s industrial flooring range. It is primed and scratch-coated with MC-Dur 1200 VK, filled with oven-dried quartz sand for build, and made thixotropic for ramps and walls with MC-Stellmittel TX 19, so the system is best quoted together rather than as a single tin. Where a project needs a conductive or antistatic floor, the MC-Dur 1800 TX-AS family is the natural step up within the same brand. Space Arc also stocks equivalent epoxy floor coatings from other principals, so if a specifier is standardising on a particular brand across a site we can match MC-Dur 1200 to a comparable Fosroc, Sika or Master Builders Solutions system rather than force a single supplier.
Fosroc Nitoflor FC150 — A high-build, solvent-free epoxy floor coating worth specifying when the project is already standardised on Fosroc or needs BIS-familiar documentation for the same industrial-floor duty.
