What is it?

A two-component, resin-based epoxy floor coating from MC-Bauchemie’s MC-DUR family, formulated to seal concrete and hand it a hard, chemical- and abrasion-resistant working surface.

Where is it used?

Industrial concrete floors: warehouses, production halls, workshops, food and beverage plants, chemical process areas, car parks and service bays across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.

Why use it?

It converts a porous, dust-prone concrete slab into a sealed, cleanable, hardwearing surface that resists spillage and forklift traffic without the joints or grout lines of tiled floors.

How is it applied?

Base and hardener are pre-weighed and mixed on site, then roller- or squeegee-applied over a primed, mechanically prepared substrate, usually in two coats to a specified dry-film thickness.

About MC-Bauchemie MC-DUR 600

MC-DUR 600 belongs to MC-Bauchemie’s MC-DUR range, the German manufacturer’s established line of reactive-resin coatings for industrial flooring. Like the rest of that family, it is a two-component epoxy system: a resin base and a hardener that are blended in a fixed ratio immediately before use and then cure by chemical reaction rather than by drying. The result is a continuous, tightly bonded film that seals the concrete beneath it, closing off the open pores that otherwise trap oil, dust and moisture and make a bare slab so difficult to keep clean.

For Indian engineers and facility teams, the appeal is practical. A cast concrete floor is strong in compression but chemically and mechanically vulnerable at the surface, where spilled acids, lubricants and constant wheel traffic slowly erode and stain it. A coating such as MC-DUR 600 puts a sacrificial, replaceable protective skin over that slab. Because MC-Bauchemie configures individual MC-DUR grades for different balances of chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, build thickness and finish, the exact figures for any one grade must be read off its current, project-specific technical data sheet. As the authorised distributor and applicator, Space Arc Engineering supplies MC-DUR 600 against the correct MC-Bauchemie TDS for your site rather than a generic specification.

The technical insight

The performance of any epoxy floor coating comes from what happens after the two components meet. The resin carries reactive epoxide groups; the hardener carries amine groups that link those chains into a dense, three-dimensional crosslinked network. That network is what gives cured epoxy its hardness, its resistance to solvents and dilute chemicals, and its refusal to soften or flow back the way a thermoplastic finish would. It also explains why mix ratio, thorough blending and pot life are non-negotiable: an under-mixed or wrongly proportioned batch simply will not crosslink fully, leaving soft or tacky patches that fail early. Adhesion is the second half of the story. The coating can only be as durable as its grip on the concrete, so the surface has to be sound, clean, mechanically roughened and dry before priming. Get the chemistry and the substrate right and the film behaves as a monolithic, bonded layer; get either wrong and it delaminates regardless of how good the product is.

Where it is used

  • Sealing and protecting concrete floors in warehouses and distribution centres against forklift and pallet-truck traffic
  • Coating production and assembly halls where machinery, tooling and dropped loads abrade the slab
  • Chemical-resistant flooring in process areas exposed to oils, greases and dilute chemical spillage
  • Hygienic, easily washed-down surfaces in food, beverage and bottling plants
  • Durable finishes for workshops, maintenance bays and engineering shops
  • Dust-proofing and sealing of car-park decks, ramps and service areas
  • Protective coating over structurally sound existing concrete due for refurbishment
  • Surfaces where a seamless, jointless floor is preferred over tiling for cleanability

Key advantages

  • Two-component epoxy chemistry cures to a hard, durable film that resists abrasion and impact
  • Seals porous concrete so the floor stops generating dust and is far easier to clean
  • Good resistance to oils, greases and a range of dilute chemicals typical of industrial areas
  • Seamless, jointless finish removes the grout lines and edges where tiled floors trap dirt
  • Backed by MC-Bauchemie’s established MC-DUR flooring range and German quality control
  • Grade can be matched to the site’s specific chemical, traffic and finish requirements
  • Supplied and applied by Space Arc as authorised distributor across Delhi NCR and Pan-India
  • Bonds monolithically to properly prepared concrete for a long service life

Limitations & considerations

  • Performance depends entirely on substrate preparation; a coating over weak, dirty or damp concrete will delaminate
  • Two-pack material has a limited pot life once mixed and must be applied within that window
  • Sensitive to moisture and low temperatures during application and cure, which matters in humid or monsoon conditions
  • Standard epoxy coatings can chalk or discolour under prolonged direct UV, so exterior or sunlit areas need a suitable grade
  • Not a structural repair product; deep spalls, cracks and level correction must be dealt with separately before coating
  • Exact chemical, thickness and coverage limits vary by grade and must be confirmed on the current MC-Bauchemie TDS

Selection & best practice

Treat surface preparation as the job, not a preliminary. The concrete must be structurally sound, fully cured and dry, with laitance, curing compounds, old coatings and contamination removed by grinding or shot-blasting to expose a clean, open-textured surface. Reinstate cracks, spalls and low spots with appropriate repair materials first, because the coating follows the profile it is laid on. Prime the prepared slab so the coat keys in properly. Mix each unit of base and hardener in full, in the ratio and for the time stated on the data sheet, using a slow-speed paddle to avoid whipping in air, and never split or part-mix packs. Apply within the stated pot life at the recommended film thickness, respect overcoat intervals between coats, and control temperature, humidity and any rising damp throughout application and cure. Because grades differ, always work to the specific MC-DUR 600 technical data sheet for your project and involve Space Arc’s applicators early on substrate assessment.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is MC-DUR 600?
It is an epoxy floor coating from MC-Bauchemie’s MC-DUR range: a two-component resin-and-hardener system that is mixed on site and cures to a hard, protective film over industrial concrete floors. It is a flooring product, not a concrete repair mortar.
Is MC-DUR 600 a cementitious repair mortar?
No. The MC-DUR line is MC-Bauchemie’s reactive-resin floor-coating range. If your project needs a cementitious patch or structural repair mortar, that is a different product family and we can specify the correct material separately.
What surfaces can it be applied to?
Structurally sound, clean, dry concrete that has been mechanically prepared and primed. It is not designed to bridge weak, contaminated or damp slabs, so any repairs and moisture issues must be resolved first.
What coverage and film thickness should I expect?
Coverage and dry-film thickness depend on the specific grade, the number of coats and the porosity of the slab. We work to the figures on the current MC-Bauchemie MC-DUR 600 technical data sheet for your project rather than a generic number.
Can it be used outdoors or in sunlight?
Standard epoxy coatings can chalk or discolour under prolonged UV. For exposed decks or sunlit areas, a UV-suitable topcoat or grade should be selected, which we will advise on for your site.
Does Space Arc supply and apply MC-DUR 600 in India?
Yes. Space Arc Engineering is an authorised distributor and applicator serving Delhi NCR and Pan-India, and we supply the product against the correct MC-Bauchemie data sheet with application support.

How we position MC-Bauchemie MC-DUR 600

Position MC-DUR 600 alongside the rest of MC-Bauchemie’s MC-DUR flooring family, choosing the grade by chemical load, traffic and finish rather than by name alone, and pairing it with the matching MC-Bauchemie epoxy primer for the substrate. Where a project needs a thicker, self-smoothing topping instead of a roller coating, step up within the same MC-DUR line. For clients standardising on Fosroc, our Nitoflor flooring range is the natural equivalent, and we also stock epoxy floor systems from other brands we carry. Note that true concrete repair, crack injection and waterproofing sit outside this product’s scope, so we cross-sell the appropriate repair mortars and coatings from our wider catalogue to complete the floor package.
