MC-Bauchemie MC-DUR 1150
Two-component penetrating epoxy primer and anti-dust sealer that bonds concrete substrates to epoxy and polyurethane floor systems.
What is it?
A two-component, solvent-based fluid epoxy resin from MC-Bauchemie with high penetrating ability, used as an adhesive primer beneath epoxy and PU floor coatings and as a stand-alone anti-dust sealer for concrete.
Where is it used?
Industrial and commercial concrete floors that will receive a resin coating, plus warehouse and plant slabs that simply need a dust-proof, sealed surface.
Why use it?
It penetrates and consolidates the concrete surface, blocks dusting, and creates a strong mechanical and chemical key so the topcoat bonds reliably instead of peeling or blistering.
How is it applied?
Blast- or grind-prepared concrete is primed by roller or brush with the mixed resin and hardener; the subsequent epoxy or PU coat is applied within the recoat window while the primer is still fresh.
About MC-Bauchemie MC-DUR 1150
MC-DUR 1150 is the layer most people never see and every good floor depends on. It is a two-component, solvent-based fluid epoxy resin engineered to soak into the open pores of a concrete slab and cure into a tough, well-anchored film. On a raw industrial floor, that penetration does two jobs at once. It binds the weak, dusty surface skin of the concrete into a solid base, and it leaves behind an adhesive layer that the following epoxy or polyurethane coating can grip. Without a primer of this kind, even a premium topcoat is only as strong as the loose laitance it was rolled onto.
For the engineers and applicators we supply across Delhi NCR and the rest of India, MC-DUR 1150 sits at the start of almost every resin floor build-up. It can also stand on its own. Where a client wants nothing more than a clean, sealed, non-dusting concrete surface in a store or plant, the same primer doubles as an anti-dust treatment, closing the surface, resisting liquids and giving good chemical and abrasion resistance at a fraction of the cost of a full coating system. Space Arc supplies the genuine MC-Bauchemie material and, where required, applies it as part of a complete floor package.
The technical insight
The whole value of a penetrating primer comes down to viscosity and wetting. MC-DUR 1150 is deliberately formulated as a low-viscosity fluid so that, once the resin and hardener are mixed, it flows into the capillary structure of the concrete rather than sitting on top of it. As it wicks down, it displaces air and coats the aggregate and cement paste, then cures in place to lock the surface layer together. That is why it consolidates a dusting slab: it is effectively gluing the crumbly top few millimetres back into a monolith. The second half of the mechanism is the exposed resin at the surface. Because it is the same epoxy chemistry as the coatings that follow, the topcoat forms a chemical and mechanical bond to the primer instead of relying on the porosity of bare concrete. This is what defeats the two classic failures of resin floors, delamination and osmotic blistering, which almost always trace back to a surface that was either too weak or too smooth to hold the coating.
Where it is used
- Priming concrete substrates before epoxy self-levelling or screed floor systems
- Priming before polyurethane and PU-cement industrial floor coatings
- Anti-dust sealing of warehouse, godown and logistics-centre slabs
- Sealing plant and workshop floors in light and general manufacturing
- Base priming for chemical-resistant floors in process and storage areas
- Consolidating weak or slightly dusting concrete surfaces before coating
- Priming concrete and steel bases that will carry a resin protective layer
- Sealer coat on floors where only a dust-proof, easy-clean finish is required
Key advantages
- High penetrating ability that soaks into and consolidates the concrete surface
- Creates a strong adhesive key for epoxy and polyurethane topcoats
- Doubles as a stand-alone anti-dust treatment for concrete floors
- Good chemical resistance once cured
- Excellent abrasion resistance for a primer-sealer
- Effectively impermeable to liquids, closing a porous surface
- Works on both concrete and steel substrates
- Backed by MC-Bauchemie technical data and application guidance
Limitations & considerations
- It is a primer and anti-dust sealer, not a build-up coating; it will not level, texture or add significant thickness on its own
- Solvent-based, so it needs good ventilation and sensible fire precautions during application
- Performance depends entirely on surface preparation; it cannot rescue a contaminated, oily or heavily laitance-covered slab
- Substrate must be sufficiently dry and cured before priming, or trapped moisture can cause the system to blister
- The topcoat must be applied within the recoat window; leaving a fully cured, aged primer exposed weakens intercoat adhesion
- Not a decorative finish on its own; where colour, gloss and heavy build are needed, a full MC-DUR coating system is required over it
Selection & best practice
Get the concrete right first. The slab should be structurally sound, fully cured and dry, with all laitance, curing compounds, oil and loose material removed by shot-blasting or diamond grinding until you reach a clean, open, mechanically keyed surface. Vacuum the dust away. Stir the resin component on its own, add the hardener and mix thoroughly with a slow-speed paddle, decant into a clean container and mix again so nothing unmixed clings to the sides. Apply the primer evenly by roller or brush, working it into the surface without leaving ponded excess in low spots. On very porous or thirsty concrete a second priming pass may be needed. Then apply the following epoxy or PU coat within the recoat interval given in the technical data sheet so the two layers bond chemically. Respect the pot life, keep the substrate above the minimum application temperature, and follow the MC-Bauchemie TDS for the specific batch. For binding values on consumption, mixing ratio and recoat times, confirm against the current MC-DUR 1150 data sheet or ask our technical team.

Industry use cases
Warehousing & Logistics
Seals and dust-proofs large plain-concrete floors, either as a standalone anti-dust finish or as the primer under a full-traffic epoxy system.
Manufacturing & Workshops
Consolidates plant-floor slabs and provides the bond coat for chemical- and abrasion-resistant resin toppings.
Food, Pharma & Process Areas
Primes concrete ahead of hygienic epoxy and PU-cement floors so the seamless topcoat bonds and stays put in wash-down conditions.
Automotive & Assembly
Keys prepared concrete before durable epoxy floor coatings in production bays, service areas and parts stores.
Commercial & Retail Backspaces
Provides a low-cost sealed, non-dusting surface in store rooms and utility areas where a full decorative floor is not needed.

How we position MC-Bauchemie MC-DUR 1150
MC-DUR 1150 is the entry point to the MC-Bauchemie MC-DUR floor system, so it is rarely specified alone. Where the floor needs a hard-wearing finish over the primer, pair it with an MC-DUR self-levelling or roller epoxy topcoat; where an economical fillable screed, mortar or grout layer is wanted, MC-DUR 1250 (solvent-free fillable epoxy grout) is the natural companion from the same family. For clients standardised on other brands we stock, the equivalent priming-and-coating logic applies to Fosroc Nitoflor and Sika Sikafloor systems, so we can match MC-DUR 1150 to whichever floor family a project is built around. Talk to our technical team to size the full build-up rather than buying the primer in isolation.
