BrandMaster Builders SolutionsCategoryConcrete RepairFormA single-component, non-shrink, pourable micro concrete. Everything except water is factory-blended into a 25 kg bag…

What is it?

A single-component, non-shrink, pourable micro concrete. Everything except water is factory-blended into a 25 kg bag, so site teams get consistent, high-strength repair concrete every mix.

Where is it used?

Structural repair and jacketing of RCC beams, columns, bridge piers and pile caps; reinstating honeycombed or spalled sections; members carrying repetitive or dynamic loads.

Why use it?

It flows through congested reinforcement inside sealed formwork without vibration, does not shrink back from the parent concrete, and reaches roughly 40 MPa at 28 days.

How is it applied?

Mix each 25 kg bag with about 3.5 litres of water in a forced-action mixer and pour continuously into prepared, pre-soaked formwork from one side. No separate bonding agent is needed.

About Master Builders Solutions MasterEmaco S 340

When a structural member has lost section — a honeycombed column, a spalled bridge pier, a beam with exposed and corroded reinforcement — patching it with a trowel mortar is rarely enough. The repair has to carry load the way the original concrete did. MasterEmaco S 340 is built for exactly this situation: a ready-to-use micro concrete that needs only clean water on site, then flows into sealed formwork and fills the cavity completely, even where reinforcement is congested and a poker vibrator cannot reach.

Because the aggregates, cement and additives are pre-blended at the factory, the variability that plagues site-batched repair concrete disappears. Each 25 kg bag yields about 12.5 litres of placed material with a wet density of roughly 2,250 kg/m³, and the mix can be poured from 25 mm up to 200 mm in a single operation. For consultants specifying rehabilitation work across Delhi NCR and pan-India projects, that repeatability is often the deciding factor.

The technical insight

Two properties make a micro concrete succeed where ordinary concrete fails in repair work: flow and dimensional stability. MasterEmaco S 340 achieves flow through carefully graded fine aggregates and superplasticising admixtures, which let the mix move under its own weight through narrow gaps between rebar and formwork at a low water content — around 3.25 to 3.75 litres per bag. That low water demand is what drives strength (about 10 MPa in a day, 40 MPa at 28 days per ASTM C109) and keeps permeability low, protecting embedded steel. The non-shrink behaviour comes from a compensating system in the powder that counteracts plastic and drying shrinkage, so the hardened repair stays in intimate contact with the substrate instead of debonding at the interface — which is why no separate bonding agent is required on a properly prepared, pre-wetted surface.

Where it is used

  • Structural repair of RCC beams, columns and slabs where section loss exceeds 25 mm
  • Jacketing of columns and beams for strengthening and seismic retrofit works
  • Reinstatement of honeycombed or spalled concrete in framed structures
  • Repair of bridge piers, pile caps and crossheads on highway and flyover projects
  • Repair of members subjected to repetitive or dynamic loading, such as machine foundations and rail structures
  • Pourable repairs behind shutters where congested reinforcement rules out hand-placed mortar
  • Large-volume patch reinstatement in industrial RCC frames during shutdown windows

Key advantages

  • Single-component — only water is added on site, eliminating batching errors
  • Free-flowing; fills shuttered cavities and passes congested rebar without vibration
  • Non-shrink formulation keeps the repair locked against the parent concrete
  • No separate bonding agent required on correctly prepared substrates
  • Placeable 25 mm to 200 mm thick in one pour, cutting repair cycle time
  • Rapid strength gain — around 10 MPa at 1 day and 30 MPa by 7 days allows early striking of formwork
  • Low permeability protects reinforcement in the repaired zone
  • Consistent factory-controlled quality across every 25 kg bag

Limitations & considerations

  • Minimum application thickness is 25 mm — for thinner patches a trowel-applied repair mortar such as MasterEmaco S 466 is the right choice
  • It is a pourable material, so it needs rigid, sealed formwork with a pouring head; it cannot be trowelled onto open vertical or overhead faces
  • Pours deeper than 200 mm should be staged or executed per manufacturer guidance rather than in a single lift
  • Application is restricted to substrate temperatures between +5°C and +40°C
  • Like all cementitious repairs it demands proper curing; neglecting it invites surface cracking
  • Shelf life is 6 months in unopened bags stored dry on pallets, so order to match the repair programme

Selection & best practice

Break out all loose, delaminated and honeycombed concrete back to sound material, undercutting edges so the repair is never feather-edged. Expose corroded reinforcement fully around its perimeter, clean it to bright steel and prime it — MasterEmaco P 130 works well here. Erect rigid, leak-proof formwork with a pouring hopper about 100 mm above the repair top, and pre-soak the substrate to a saturated surface-dry condition before pouring. Mix full 25 kg bags only, adding 3.25-3.75 litres of measured water in a forced-action or heavy-duty drill mixer until a uniform, lump-free flowing consistency is reached. Pour continuously from one side so air escapes ahead of the material rather than being trapped against the shutter. After striking the forms, cure immediately — apply a curing compound such as MasterKure 181 or maintain wet hessian for the period the site conditions demand.

Industry use cases

Bridges & Flyovers

Reinstating spalled piers, pile caps and crossheads on NHAI and state highway rehabilitation packages, where free flow lets the mix reach dense pier reinforcement.

Metro & Rail Infrastructure

Repair of columns and structural members exposed to repetitive dynamic loading, where a non-shrink, fatigue-tolerant repair matrix is specified.

Industrial Plants

Shutdown-window repairs to RCC frames, machine foundations and pedestals — early strength of about 10 MPa in 24 hours shortens downtime.

High-Rise & Commercial Rehabilitation

Column jacketing and honeycomb reinstatement during structural audits and seismic retrofit of ageing residential and office buildings.

Water & Utility Structures

Section repair of RCC walls and columns in treatment plants and pump houses, where low permeability protects embedded steel.

Frequently asked questions

How is MasterEmaco S 340 different from a repair mortar or a grout?
A repair mortar is trowelled by hand and suits thin patches; a grout is designed for underplating and anchoring. MasterEmaco S 340 sits between them — a flowable micro concrete poured into formwork for structural repairs 25 mm and deeper, especially around congested reinforcement.
How many bags do I need per cubic metre of repair?
Each 25 kg bag yields roughly 12.5 litres, so budget around 80 bags per cubic metre of cavity. Measure the broken-out volume after surface preparation, since undercutting increases quantity.
Do I need a bonding agent before pouring?
No — on a sound, roughened, pre-soaked saturated surface-dry substrate the material bonds directly. Corroded reinforcement, however, should be cleaned and primed, for which we supply MasterEmaco P 130.
How soon can the formwork be struck and the member reloaded?
The mix reaches about 10 MPa in 24 hours and 30 MPa by 7 days, so shutters can typically be struck early. Reloading of structural members should always be cleared by the project structural engineer.
Can it be placed thicker than 200 mm?
Not in a single unmodified pour. For deeper sections, pour in stages or follow Master Builders Solutions’ project-specific guidance — our applications team can advise on the method statement.
Does Space Arc supply only, or also apply?
Both. We are an authorised distributor and applicator, so we can deliver material pan-India or execute the complete repair — breakout, rebar treatment, formwork, pouring and curing — through our trained crews in Delhi NCR and beyond.

How we position Master Builders Solutions MasterEmaco S 340

MasterEmaco S 340 is the workhorse pourable repair micro concrete in the Master Builders Solutions range, and it rarely travels alone on a rehabilitation project. For repairs thinner than 25 mm or on open vertical and overhead faces, specify the trowel-applied MasterEmaco S 466; where the specification calls for a fibre-reinforced or higher-performance micro concrete, look at MasterEmaco S 348 and MasterEmaco S 346. Pair every pour with MasterEmaco P 130 for reinforcement priming and MasterKure 181 for curing, and consider a MasterProtect anti-carbonation coating to extend the life of the finished repair. Space Arc also stocks equivalent systems from Fosroc (Renderoc RG micro concrete) and Sika (MonoTop repair mortars), so if your BOQ names a different brand, we can match the specification and supply — or apply — whichever system the consultant approves.
