Sika® Antisol® A-4
Acrylic copolymer curing compound that films over concrete and accepts later coatings
Product Overview
Sika® Antisol® A-4 is a ready-to-use, water-dispersed acrylic copolymer curing compound that forms a thin protective film over freshly placed concrete to prevent premature evaporation of mixing water. Holding this moisture in place allows cement hydration to run its full course, so the slab develops its target strength with less plastic cracking, shrinkage and surface dusting. A key advantage of the acrylic chemistry is its compatibility with later finishes: surfaces cured with Antisol A-4 can subsequently receive acrylic paints or polymer-modified mortars without the bond problems associated with wax-based compounds. It can be sprayed, rolled or brushed onto horizontal surfaces and onto vertical faces straight after formwork removal. Space Arc Engineering, an authorized Sika distributor in India, supplies Antisol A-4 for projects that combine efficient curing with subsequent coating or rendering.
Features & Benefits
- Acrylic film stays compatible with later paints and polymer-modified mortars
- Retains mixing water so concrete reaches its designed strength
- Reduces plastic shrinkage cracking and surface dusting
- Replaces labour-heavy ponding and wet-hessian curing
- Applies easily by spray, roller or brush, including vertical faces
- Ready to use with no on-site mixing or dilution
Technical Highlights
| Coverage | Coverage approximately 5-6.5 m² per litre depending on conditions; finalise by site trial (refer to TDS). |
| Strength | Promotes complete hydration to achieve designed concrete strength; it is a curing aid, not a strength additive. |
| Performance | Limits early water loss, plastic cracking and dusting while leaving a coatable surface. |
| Application Conditions | Apply after surface water evaporates, or to vertical faces just after striking formwork; protect from rain 2-3 hours. |
| Packaging | Supplied in 230 kg containers. |
Applications
- Concrete to be over-painted with acrylic systems in commercial buildings
- Bridge and infrastructure elements receiving protective coatings later
- Vertical retaining and shear walls cured straight after striking forms
- Industrial floors before application of polymer-modified toppings
- Residential slabs and decks requiring dust-free, coatable curing

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Sika Antisol A-4 used for?
It is a water-based acrylic curing compound that forms a film over fresh concrete to prevent water loss. It is preferred where the cured surface will later be painted with acrylic systems or finished with polymer-modified mortar.
What coverage does Sika Antisol A-4 give?
Coverage is around 5-6.5 m² per litre, depending on wind, humidity, temperature and surface texture. A site trial should confirm the practical rate; refer to the current TDS.
Can I paint or render over concrete cured with Antisol A-4?
Yes. Unlike wax-based compounds, the acrylic film is compatible with subsequent acrylic paints and polymer-modified mortars, which is a main reason to specify this grade.
How is Antisol A-4 applied?
Apply by spray, roller or brush after surface free water has evaporated on horizontal slabs, or immediately after formwork removal on vertical surfaces. Protect from rain for at least 2-3 hours. Refer to the TDS.
