Fosroc Concure A
A dual-purpose, resin-based curing compound that seals freshly placed concrete and leaves behind a hardened, dustproofed surface ready to receive subsequent finishes.
What is it?
Fosroc Concure A is a single-component, resin-based (pliolite/acrylic) liquid curing compound that forms a continuous membrane on concrete to retain mix water, while doubling as a permanent surface hardener and dustproofer.
Where is it used?
Factory and warehouse floors, general floor slabs and columns, high-rise structural concrete, and as a self-curing primer beneath floor coverings and paint systems.
Why use it?
It replaces labour-intensive water curing with a one-coat spray application, meets ASTM C309 curing efficiency, and adds a 55% gain in abrasion resistance plus a bondable primer surface in a single operation.
How is it applied?
Stirred and spray-applied (knapsack or motorised) in a single uniform coat at 4.5-5.5 m²/litre onto damp, bleed-free concrete; tack-free in 2-4 hours.
About Fosroc Concure A
Fosroc Concure A (formerly marketed as Cureseal) is a multi-purpose, resin-based concrete curing compound supplied as a ready-to-use single-component liquid. Unlike ordinary curing membranes that simply hold water in and then degrade or peel, Concure A is built around a non-degrading resin that stays on the slab and matures into a genuine functional layer. That is why Fosroc classifies it as a “dual-purpose” compound: it cures the concrete and, at the same time, hardens and dustproofs the finished surface.
In the curing role it works on a well-understood principle. Freshly placed concrete needs its mix water retained so that cement hydration can run to completion; lose that water too early to sun, wind or low humidity and you get plastic shrinkage cracking, a weak dusty top layer, and reduced long-term durability. Concure A is sprayed on as soon as the surface is free of bleed water and seals it under a continuous film, giving a controlled, uniform rate of cure across horizontal slabs, vertical columns and inclined elements where wet hessian or ponding is simply impractical.
For Indian sites this matters on two fronts. First, summer ambient temperatures across Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, Gujarat and much of the plains make conventional water curing a round-the-clock chore that is rarely sustained for the full seven days. Concure A removes that dependency. Second, the white-pigmented (Type 2) grade reflects solar radiation, lowering peak surface temperature and the thermal-gradient cracking risk on large exposed pours such as podium slabs and pavement-quality concrete. The clear amber (Type 1) grade is chosen where appearance is to be preserved or a subsequent coating is planned.
Space Arc Engineering supplies genuine Fosroc Concure A across Delhi NCR and Pan-India as an authorised distributor and applicator, with technical guidance on grade selection, coverage and compatibility with downstream finishes.
The technical insight
The defining technical feature of Concure A is that its film is engineered to remain bondable rather than to break down. Conventional wax- or chlorinated-rubber curing membranes have to be mechanically removed before any topping or coating can be applied, because they prevent adhesion. Concure A instead uses a resin that allows direct over-coating: water-based emulsion paints (PVA, PVC, acrylic, pliolite), bituminous emulsions, thin-section polymer-modified cement systems, and epoxy coatings that do not rely on penetration for their bond can all be applied over the cured film. The one limitation flowing from this is that finishes which depend on substrate penetration (deep-soak sealers, some primers) are unsuitable, and Fosroc sensibly recommends an on-site bond test for any specific finish, since the variety of proprietary coatings on the market makes blanket compatibility claims impossible.
On performance, the published figures are modest but honest: curing efficiency to BS 7542-92 is greater than 75%, water retention exceeds the requirements of ASTM C309, and the surface-hardening action delivers a 55% increase in abrasion resistance over untreated concrete. Specific gravity sits at 0.82-0.83 at 20°C, reflecting the solvent carrier, which also explains the 40°C flash point and the need for well-ventilated application away from ignition sources. Note that >75% efficiency places Concure A below Fosroc’s higher-efficiency curing compounds (Concure WB at >80%, Concure RB90 at >90%) – the trade-off is that those products do not provide the same permanent hardening/dustproofing and direct over-coatability. Choosing Concure A is therefore a deliberate decision to prioritise the dual function, not raw curing efficiency.
Where it is used
- Curing of freshly placed concrete floor slabs, columns and structural elements
- Factory, warehouse and industrial floors requiring a dustproofed, hard-wearing surface
- High-rise and large-pour construction where water curing is impractical or unreliable
- Self-curing primer beneath floor coverings, paint systems and selected coatings
- Pavement-quality and large exposed slabs using the white grade to reduce solar heat gain
- Surface hardening and dustproofing of existing concrete floors
Key advantages
- One-coat spray application eliminates continuous water curing and its labour cost
- Doubles as a permanent surface hardener and dustproofer, giving ~55% better abrasion resistance
- Resin film accepts direct application of many paints and coatings – no membrane removal needed
- Applicable to both freshly placed and existing concrete
- Available in white (Type 2) to reflect solar heat and clear (Type 1) where appearance is retained
- Good general resistance to chemicals and UV exposure for extended service life
- Meets ASTM C309 (Class B) and BS 8110 curing requirements
Limitations & considerations
- Solvent-borne and flammable (flash point 40°C) – needs well-ventilated areas and ignition-source control
- Curing efficiency >75% is lower than higher-grade compounds like Concure WB (>80%) or RB90 (>90%)
- Unsuitable as a primer for finishes that rely on penetration for substrate bond
- Must not be exposed to moving water or rain until tack-free; bleed water must clear before application
- Cannot be applied if bleed water is still apparent on fresh concrete
- On-site bond test recommended before relying on adhesion of any specific subsequent finish
- Avoid freezing, heat and direct sunlight during storage; keep containers sealed and airtight
Selection & best practice
Stir Concure A gently before use for uniformity. On fresh concrete, wait until all bleed water has disappeared but the surface is still damp, remove any laitance or grout runs, then apply a single uniform coat at 4.5-5.5 m²/litre by fine spray (motorised or knapsack), brush or roller, with no overlapping of passes. Do not traffic the film until fully dry and protect it from rain and moving water until tack-free (2-4 hours at 20°C). Use the white grade on large sun-exposed pours to cut solar gain. Flush spray equipment with water immediately after use; clean residual resin from nozzles with Fosroc Solvent 102. Where a coating or topping will follow, run a small on-site bond test first to confirm adhesion.

How we position Fosroc Concure A
Fosroc Concure A occupies a specific niche in the Fosroc Concure range: it is the resin-based “dual-purpose” option that trades a little curing efficiency for permanent hardening, dustproofing and a bondable primer surface. Within the Fosroc family, the natural cross-references are Fosroc Concure WB (water-based, >80% efficiency, no solvent, when pure curing is the goal), Fosroc Concure RB90 (resin-based, >90% efficiency, high performance), and Fosroc Concure DPM (bitumen-based, dual-purpose with permanent waterproofing) – clients should choose by whether they need maximum curing efficiency, a hardened/over-coatable surface, or an integral DPM. For solvent cleaning, Fosroc Solvent 102 is the matched product. Against competitor brands available in India, credible alternatives in the resin and water-based curing-compound space include Sika Antisol and Sika Cure ranges, MBS (Master Builders Solutions) MasterKure curing membranes, Dr. Fixit Pidicure, and STP curing compounds; for standalone surface hardening, products such as Sika and MBS liquid floor hardeners compete on the dustproofing function. Concure A’s differentiator is delivering both curing and a permanent, paint-receptive hardened surface from one spray-applied coat, which is what makes it attractive for industrial floors.
