Sika® Plastiment® VZ is a chloride-free, set-retarding concrete admixture based on a poly-hydroxyl compound, used to control the setting time of concrete under demanding conditions. By delaying initial set, it keeps concrete workable through long hauls, large continuous pours and hot-weather placement, helping to avoid cold joints and giving more time for compaction and finishing. After the extended dormant period the concrete hardens normally and can achieve increased ultimate strengths. Being chloride-free, it does not promote corrosion of embedded reinforcement, making it suitable for structural work. It also helps manage slump loss and improves surface finish, and supports techniques such as revibration.
