What is it?

A latest-generation polycarboxylic ether (PCE) high-range water-reducing admixture from Fosroc, formulated specifically for precast concrete production rather than ready-mix supply.

Where is it used?

Precast plants across India producing hollow-core slabs, paver blocks, masonry blocks, cement tiles, kerbstones and other repetitive-mould elements.

Why use it?

It cuts mixing water sharply and speeds early hydration, so elements reach stripping strength sooner — more casts per mould per day with no added cement and no steam curing.

How is it applied?

Metered into the gauging water through a calibrated dispenser during batching, at a dose fixed by plant trials with the actual cement, fly ash or GGBS being used.

About Fosroc Auracast 100

In a precast yard, the mould is the bottleneck. Every hour an element sits waiting for stripping strength is an hour that mould earns nothing. Fosroc Auracast 100 attacks exactly this constraint: it is a low-viscosity liquid superplasticiser built on polycarboxylic ether (PCE) chemistry, tuned so that concrete gains early strength quickly at ambient temperature. Producers get faster demoulding cycles without pushing cement content up, without steam curing, and without sacrificing surface quality on the finished unit.

The formulation conforms to IS 9103:1999 as a superplasticiser and behaves as ASTM C494 Type F or Type G depending on dose. Because it delivers strong water reduction at low viscosity, it suits the stiff, low water-cement-ratio mixes typical of block, paver and tile machines as well as wet-cast hollow-core production. Space Arc Engineering supplies Auracast 100 in 250 kg drums to precast units across Delhi NCR and pan-India, with technical support for plant trials and dosage fixing.

The technical insight

Auracast 100 works by steric dispersion rather than the purely electrostatic action of older SNF/SMF plasticisers. Its PCE polymer has a short main chain that adsorbs onto cement grains and long side chains that project outward, physically holding particles apart. This breaks up cement flocs and releases the water trapped inside them, so the same workability is achieved at a much lower water-cement ratio. With less free water, the paste is denser and hydration products bridge between grains sooner — which is what converts into early demoulding strength, tighter surfaces, and better long-term resistance to carbonation, shrinkage and efflorescence. The catch is sensitivity: PCE response shifts with cement C3A content and with fly-ash or GGBS replacement, which is why Fosroc fixes dosage by trial rather than publishing one generic figure.

Where it is used

  • Hollow-core slab and prestressed plank production lines
  • Interlocking paver blocks and paving units
  • Solid and hollow concrete masonry blocks and bricks
  • Cement roofing and flooring tile manufacture
  • Kerbstones, channels, edgings and road furniture
  • Garden and landscape precast elements
  • Structural precast where steam curing is to be avoided or reduced
  • Low water-cement-ratio mixes incorporating fly ash or GGBS

Key advantages

  • Earlier de-shuttering raises mould turnover and daily plant output
  • Early strength achieved without increasing cement content, protecting cost per element
  • High water reduction enables dense, low w/c mixes with better durability
  • Cleaner off-the-mould surface finish and fewer breakages during early handling
  • Reduced efflorescence, shrinkage and creep, with improved carbonation resistance
  • Compatible with fly ash and GGBS blended mixes common in Indian precast
  • Low-viscosity liquid meters accurately through automatic dispensers
  • Can cut or eliminate steam-curing energy costs in many product lines

Limitations & considerations

  • Formulated for precast cycles, not for ready-mix hauls needing extended slump retention — the Fosroc Auramix range serves that duty
  • Dose response varies with cement chemistry (notably C3A) and SCM replacement, so trial mixes with the actual cement are mandatory before production
  • Overdosing can cause bleeding, segregation or set retardation; incremental dosing discipline is essential
  • Fosroc publishes no generic dosage or water-reduction percentage — values must come from the current batch TDS and plant trials
  • Storage is frost- and heat-sensitive; drums must stay sealed, off the ground and shaded
  • It is an accelerating aid to a good mix design, not a substitute for proper grading, compaction or curing

Selection & best practice

Fix the dosage before you fix the production schedule. Run trial mixes with the exact cement brand and grade you buy, including any fly ash or GGBS replacement, and start at the low end of the range in the current Fosroc TDS. Add Auracast 100 to the gauging water or during batching through calibrated dispensing equipment — never onto dry cement, where localised overdose causes erratic behaviour. Step the dose up in small increments while watching for bleeding, segregation or delayed set, the classic overdose signals with PCE admixtures. Before shortening the demoulding cycle on the line, verify stripping strength on trial units, not just cube results. Store drums sealed, off the ground, protected from frost and direct sun, and confirm shelf life and any re-stirring requirement from the TDS before use.

Industry use cases

Hollow-core and structural precast plants

Prestressed plank and hollow-core producers use Auracast 100 to reach transfer and stripping strengths overnight at ambient temperature, keeping beds on a 24-hour cycle without steam.

Paver and block manufacturing units

Semi-dry, low w/c machine mixes gain green strength and edge sharpness, cutting rejection from handling damage on high-volume paver and CMU lines.

Cement tile factories

Roofing and flooring tile producers get denser matrices and reduced efflorescence — a visible quality difference on pigmented and polished tiles.

Road and urban infrastructure precasters

Kerbstone, channel and edging yards supplying NHAI, PWD and smart-city contracts turn moulds faster during peak delivery schedules.

Landscape and building-products manufacturers

Garden elements, fencing posts and architectural units achieve better off-mould finish, reducing rework and rendering costs.

Frequently asked questions

What dosage of Auracast 100 should I start with?
There is no single published figure because PCE response changes with cement chemistry and SCM content. Begin at the low end of the range in the current Fosroc TDS, run trial mixes with your actual cement, and step up incrementally. Space Arc can support the trial programme.
Can Auracast 100 fully replace steam curing?
In many product lines, yes — that is its design intent. Whether steam can be eliminated entirely depends on your target demoulding strength, ambient temperature and mix design, so prove it on trial units before changing the production cycle.
Does it work with PPC, fly ash or GGBS mixes?
Yes, it is suitable for cement-replacement mixes and low water-cement ratios. Response varies with the replacement level and source, so trials with the exact blend are essential.
How is it different from SNF plasticisers like Conplast SP430?
SNF products disperse cement electrostatically and give moderate water reduction. Auracast 100’s PCE chemistry works by steric dispersion, giving higher water reduction and much stronger early-strength development — the property precast yards pay for.
Is Auracast 100 ASTM C494 Type F or Type G?
Either, depending on dosage. At normal doses it behaves as a Type F high-range water reducer; at higher doses it shifts toward Type G (water-reducing and retarding). It also complies with IS 9103:1999.
What pack size does Space Arc supply, and how should drums be stored?
It comes in 250 kg drums. Store them sealed, off the ground and protected from frost and direct sun, and confirm shelf life from the batch TDS. Space Arc delivers across Delhi NCR and pan-India.

How we position Fosroc Auracast 100

Auracast 100 is the precast specialist in Fosroc’s admixture family, and it should be specified as one. If your plant also produces self-compacting or highly flowable precast mixes, ask us about the higher-grade Auracast products such as Auracast 270M, which Space Arc also supplies. For ready-mix supply where slump must survive a long haul, the correct choice is the Fosroc Auramix PCE range rather than stretching Auracast beyond its design brief, and for conventional site-batched work at moderate water reduction, Fosroc Conplast SP430 remains the economical SNF workhorse. Producers standardising on other brands can source equivalent precast PCE technology through us as well — Sika’s ViscoCrete line and Master Builders Solutions’ MasterGlenium ACE series serve the same duty — but within a Fosroc-specified project, Auracast 100 pairs naturally with Fosroc curing compounds and mould-release agents from our stock.
