What is it?

A 100% solids, two-component epoxy resin (Part A + hardener Part B, with a separate colour component) that cures to a hard, glossy, jointless film. It is the workhorse binder in Sika’s MultiDur flooring systems.

Where is it used?

Interior industrial and commercial floors only: assembly halls, dry production areas, warehouses, workshops, garages, loading ramps, car park decks and food and beverage process areas.

Why use it?

It gives one product three jobs: primer, self-smoothing topping and broadcast seal coat. The film is seamless, liquid-tight, easy to clean and resists bacterial and fungal growth, with USFDA 175.300 food-grade testing on record.

How is it applied?

Onto a mechanically prepared, dry concrete substrate. Mix A+A1 with B at 79:21 by weight, then apply by short-piled roller, squeegee or pin rake depending on the system, spike-rolling self-smoothing layers to release air.

About Sika Sikafloor-264 HC N

Sikafloor-264 HC N is one of the most versatile epoxy binders in Sika’s flooring range, which is exactly why specifiers and applicators keep coming back to it. It is a two-part epoxy: a pigmented resin side (Part A neutral base blended with the A1 colour component) and a hardener (Part B), mixed at 79:21 by weight. Because it carries 100% solids by weight and volume, there is no solvent to flash off and no shrinkage from evaporation, so the cured film thickness is effectively the applied thickness. That single resin can be rolled as a thin coating, filled with graded quartz and poured as a 500-micron self-smoothing layer, or used to prime and then seal a broadcast quartz system, which is what lets one drum cover a whole spectrum of floor build-ups.

For contractors working across Delhi NCR and the rest of India, the appeal is practical. The finished floor is jointless, glossy and liquid-tight, so it wipes clean and does not harbour bacteria or fungus, a real advantage in food and pharma back-of-house areas. The India technical data sheet records a compressive strength around 53 N/mm2 and flexural strength around 20 N/mm2 at 28 days when filled with quartz, a Shore D hardness near 76 and tensile adhesion above 1.5 N/mm2 with failure in the concrete rather than the coating. It handles permanent dry heat up to +60 degrees C and is strictly for interior use. Space Arc Engineering supplies it as an authorised Sika distributor, with the matching primers, quartz aggregates and system guidance to build the specified floor correctly.

The technical insight

The reason one resin can act as primer, topping and seal coat comes down to how epoxy cures and how it is filled. Sikafloor-264 HC N is a cold-cure epoxy: the amine hardener (Part B) reacts stoichiometrically with the resin (Part A), which is why the 79:21 mix ratio and full-unit mixing matter so much. Get the ratio or the mixing wrong and pockets of unreacted resin stay soft. Because it is 100% solids, every kilogram applied stays on the floor as film, so consumption maps almost directly to thickness. Left neat and rolled thin, the low-viscosity resin wets into the concrete and grips it; the >1.5 N/mm2 pull-off with concrete failure shows the bond is stronger than the substrate itself. Blended with dry quartz sand, the same resin becomes a mortar that flows level under a pin rake and then locks the aggregate in, which is where the 53 N/mm2 compressive figure comes from. The catch is that epoxy is unforgiving of moisture and temperature: pot life shortens from about 50 minutes at +10 degrees C to roughly 30 minutes at +30 degrees C, and applying while the slab is warming pushes vapour up through the wet film and leaves pinholes. That is why the TDS caps substrate moisture at 4% and insists the floor sits at least 3 degrees C above dew point.

Where it is used

  • Self-smoothing 500-micron industrial floors (MultiDur ES-05) in assembly halls, workshops and dry production areas
  • Thin-film roller coatings for warehouses, garages, loading ramps and light-industrial units
  • Textured, slip-resistant coatings using Sika Extender T and quartz (MultiDur ET-05 HSR)
  • Seal and top coat over broadcast quartz systems (MultiDur EB-10 to EB-40) for car park decks and hangars
  • Higher-build self-smoothing wearing courses from 1.0 mm to 3.0 mm (MultiDur ES-10 to ES-30) with graded Sika quartz
  • Hygienic floors for food and beverage process areas and packaging interiors, backed by USFDA 175.300 testing
  • Chemically resistant floors in production zones exposed to spillage and regular wet cleaning
  • Recoating and refurbishment of worn epoxy floors where a hard, glossy, easy-clean finish is required

Key advantages

  • 100% solids, solvent-free formulation so there is no evaporation, no shrinkage and negligible odour indoors
  • One resin serves as primer, self-smoothing topping and broadcast seal coat, simplifying procurement
  • Seamless, liquid-tight, glossy finish that is easy to clean and does not support bacterial or fungal growth
  • Strong mechanical performance: ~53 N/mm2 compressive and ~20 N/mm2 flexural strength at 28 days when quartz-filled
  • Excellent adhesion to sound concrete, with pull-off above 1.5 N/mm2 failing in the substrate
  • Wide range of near-RAL colour shades available through the separate A1 colour component
  • Good chemical resistance and permanent dry-heat tolerance up to +60 degrees C
  • Slip-resistant broadcast surfaces are achievable for wet or trafficked areas

Limitations & considerations

  • Interior use only; not recommended for exterior slabs-on-grade or freeze-thaw exposure
  • Sensitive to substrate moisture, which must be at or below 4% by weight before application
  • Susceptible to pinholing if applied while ambient or substrate temperatures are rising or vapour drive is present
  • Under direct UV (sun, skylight, lamps) the epoxy can discolour and vary in colour, though performance is unaffected
  • Short working window: pot life is only about 40 minutes at +20 degrees C and shorter as it gets hotter
  • Must only be applied by experienced professionals following the relevant System Data Sheet and method statements

Selection & best practice

Success with Sikafloor-264 HC N is decided before the resin is opened. Mechanically prepare the concrete by shot-blasting or scarifying to remove laitance and open the surface; the slab needs a minimum 25 N/mm2 compressive strength and at least 1.5 N/mm2 pull-off. Confirm substrate moisture is 4% or below and that the floor is a minimum of 3 degrees C above dew point, otherwise blooming and pinholes follow. Prime with Sikafloor-161 HC where the system calls for it, and respect the overcoating windows. Mix full units only: stir Part A with the colour component to a uniform shade, add Part B, and mix for about four minutes total, scraping the sides and base so no unmixed resin is left. Keep material pre-conditioned at 20 to 24 degrees C, work to a wet edge, and spike-roll self-smoothing layers to release entrained air. Protect the fresh floor from damp and water for at least 72 hours, and use only electric warm-air heaters, never gas or oil burners, which release CO2 and water vapour that ruin the finish.

Frequently asked questions

Can Sikafloor-264 HC N be used outdoors?
No. It is specified for interior use only and is typically not recommended for exterior slabs-on-grade where freeze-thaw conditions may occur. Under direct UV it can also discolour, though this does not affect performance. For external decks, ask us about a suitable Sika polyurethane or aliphatic top coat instead.
How much material do I need per square metre?
It depends on the system. As a primer it is 0.30-0.50 kg/m2, and as a 500-micron self-smoothing layer 0.70-0.80 kg/m2. Higher-build ES systems from 1.0 to 3.0 mm use more, combined with graded quartz. These are theoretical figures; add for surface porosity, profile and wastage.
What is the mixing ratio and pot life?
Mix Part A plus the A1 colour component with Part B at 79:21 by weight, in full units only. Pot life is about 50 minutes at +10 degrees C, 40 minutes at +20 degrees C and 30 minutes at +30 degrees C, so mix only what you can lay before it starts to set.
What condition does the concrete need to be in?
The slab must be sound, mechanically prepared (shot-blasted or scarified), with a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm2 and 1.5 N/mm2 pull-off. Moisture must be 4% or lower by weight, with no rising damp, and the floor at least 3 degrees C above dew point at the time of application.
When can the floor take traffic?
At +20 degrees C it takes light foot traffic in about 24 hours, light traffic in around 4 days and reaches full cure at roughly 7 days. Cooler conditions extend these times, so at +10 degrees C full cure is nearer 10 days. Keep the fresh floor away from water for at least 72 hours.
Is it safe for food-processing areas?
Yes, it is widely used in food and beverage process and packaging interiors. The seamless, liquid-tight film does not support bacterial or fungal growth, and the India data sheet records USFDA 175.300 food-grade testing on the 264 HC resin at CFTRI Mysore.

How we position Sika Sikafloor-264 HC N

Sikafloor-264 HC N is the core epoxy binder in a full system, and it works best when specified with its Sika companions: Sikafloor-161 HC as the primer and levelling mortar, Sika Extender T for textured coatings, and the Sika Quartz range for self-smoothing and broadcast build-ups, all assembled per the Sikafloor MultiDur ES, ET and EB System Data Sheets. Where a slab shows rising moisture, pair it with Sikafloor EpoCem as a temporary moisture barrier. If your priority is a fast, cost-effective light-to-medium duty coating rather than a thicker self-levelling floor, our Fosroc alternative below is worth weighing. Space Arc also stocks polyurethane and cementitious systems from Fosroc, Dr. Fixit and MC-Bauchemie, so we can match the resin to the actual traffic, chemical exposure and hygiene demands of your site rather than defaulting to a single product.

Preferred brand · Fosroc equivalent

Fosroc Nitoflor FC130 — A specifier on a tighter budget or a light-to-medium duty commercial floor may prefer this thin-film roller-applied epoxy coating, where the higher-build self-smoothing capability of Sikafloor-264 HC N is not required.
