Authorized Project Distributor — Sika India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad

Product Overview

SikaGrout 300 PT is a factory-blended, pre-packaged cementitious grout specifically engineered for injection into post-tensioning (PT) cable ducts, cable sheaths, and strand anchor pockets in prestressed concrete structures including bridges, flyovers, post-tensioned building frames, and parking structures. In prestressed concrete construction, post-tensioning cables are threaded through plastic or steel ducts cast into the structural member, tensioned against bearing plates after the concrete has gained sufficient strength, and then the duct must be filled completely with grout to: protect the prestressing steel from corrosion by eliminating air voids that permit moisture and chloride ingress; transfer bond load from the cable to the surrounding concrete over the grouted length; and prevent water from freezing and expanding inside ducts in cold climates. SikaGrout 300 PT is formulated to meet these demanding requirements: it is a fluid, low water-to-cement ratio grout (typically around 0.36 to 0.40) that can be pumped through long duct runs (up to 100 m or more in major bridge structures) without segregation or bleed; it is non-shrink and exhibits slight controlled expansion on setting to ensure complete void filling without settlement gaps forming at high points in the duct; and it achieves high compressive strength (typically above 30 MPa at 28 days) to contribute to the structural performance of the grouted duct. SikaGrout 300 PT meets the requirements of international prestressing standards including the European ETAG 013 and Indian IRC and IS standard specifications for prestressing grout. It is supplied as a pre-blended powder that requires only the addition of clean potable water at the job site and mixing with a high-shear colloidal grout mixer before pump injection. Space Arc Engineering supplies SikaGrout 300 PT for bridge and infrastructure PT grouting projects throughout Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and northern India.

Applications

  • Post-tensioning duct grouting in prestressed concrete bridges and flyovers
  • Cable sheath grouting in cable-stayed and suspension bridge stays
  • PT duct grouting in post-tensioned multi-storey building flat slabs and frames
  • Anchor pocket and trumpet grouting at PT anchorage zones
  • Grouting of corroded or incomplete PT duct injection on existing bridges — remedial grouting
  • Void filling in structural concrete members — voids discovered during post-construction investigation

Key Advantages

  • Non-shrink with controlled expansion — ensures complete void filling without settlement gaps in duct high points
  • Fluid consistency — pumpable through long duct runs exceeding 100 m in major bridge structures
  • High compressive strength — above 30 MPa at 28 days for structural contribution
  • Low bleed — less than 0.3 percent bleed prevents voids forming at cable high points
  • Meets IRC and IS requirements for PT grout in Indian bridge and infrastructure construction
  • Pre-blended factory powder — consistent quality batch after batch, simple site mixing with water only

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment and pumping procedure is required for correct injection of SikaGrout 300 PT into post-tensioning ducts?

Correct equipment and procedure for SikaGrout 300 PT injection into PT ducts is essential — incomplete grouting is a critical defect that can result in costly repair or structural failure. Equipment required: High-shear colloidal mixer — a colloidal (paddle or rotor-stator) grout mixer with a minimum tank capacity of 200 litres and a mixing speed that produces a homogeneous lump-free grout in 5 minutes. Ordinary drum mixers or concrete mixers do not provide adequate shear and must not be used. Grout agitator tank — a holding tank with a slow-speed agitator to keep mixed SikaGrout 300 PT in suspension before pumping and prevent settlement during the grouting operation. Piston pump or progressive cavity (Moyno) pump — capable of developing at least 10 bar injection pressure at the pump, with a minimum flow rate of 15 litres per minute. The pump must have a pressure gauge to monitor injection pressure throughout the operation. Injection procedure: Vent pipes at all high points in the duct must be open before grouting commences — closing high-point vents traps air and creates permanent voids. Inject from the lowest point of the duct (or from one end of a horizontal duct) to push air ahead of the grout front toward the open vents. Continue injecting until grout of the same consistency as the mixed grout (no bleed separation) exits all vents in sequence — this confirms that air has been displaced from each section of the duct. Close each vent as grout flows from it. After all vents are flowing clean grout, maintain injection pressure for a further 2 to 5 minutes (or as specified) before sealing the injection port. On long or complex duct runs, a specialist Sika Technical Services engineer can assist in planning the grouting sequence.
