Sika SikaGrout-295 IN
A one-part, ultra high-strength cementitious precision grout engineered for the most demanding baseplate and machinery foundations, from onshore wind turbines to heavy compressors.
What is it?
A single-component, pre-blended cementitious precision grout that reaches ≥90 N/mm² at 28 days and expands slightly to stay in positive contact under the plate.
Where is it used?
Wind turbine tower base joints, turbine and generator soleplates, heavy compressor and press bases, bridge bearings and crane rails carrying dynamic and cyclic loads.
Why use it?
It delivers ultra-high early and ultimate strength with high flow, so critical rotating and vibrating equipment can be commissioned quickly with full bearing under the plate.
How is it applied?
Mixed with clean water using a slow-speed spiral paddle, then poured continuously from one side into the gap so it flows across without trapping air; placed within its pot life.
About Sika SikaGrout-295 IN
SikaGrout-295 IN sits at the top of Sika’s cementitious grout range in India. It is a factory pre-blended, single-component powder built around a high-performance cement binder, graded fillers, selected aggregates and a shrinkage-compensation system. You add only clean water on site, which removes the batching errors that plague site-mixed sand-cement grouts and gives every pour the same engineered performance. The product was developed for the punishing loads of onshore wind turbine foundation joints, and that pedigree carries straight into any application where a baseplate has to transfer very high static, dynamic or cyclic loads into the foundation.
What sets this grade apart from a general-purpose grout is the combination of ultra-high strength and controlled expansion. It develops around 35 N/mm² in a single day at 20°C and climbs past 90 N/mm² by 28 days, while a slight positive expansion keeps the hardened grout pressing up against the underside of the plate rather than pulling away as it cures. For engineers and contractors commissioning turbines, compressors or heavy presses, that means a grout that can be loaded early, resists vibration and fatigue, and holds full effective bearing area for the life of the equipment.
The technical insight
The performance of any precision grout comes down to one thing: keeping the whole underside of the baseplate in solid, void-free contact so load transfers evenly into the foundation. Ordinary cementitious mixes shrink as they cure and hydrate, curling away from the plate and leaving high-stress edge contact that fatigues under vibration. SikaGrout-295 IN counters this with a shrinkage-compensation system that produces a slight positive expansion (up to about 2%) in the plastic-to-early-hardened phase, so the grout stays pushed up against the steel. Combined with its high early cement hydration, this expansion locks in effective bearing before the equipment is loaded. The high-flow rheology is equally deliberate: a self-levelling consistency lets a single continuous pour travel across a wide plate and vent air ahead of it, rather than folding voids into the grout the way a stiff, trowelled mix would. The result is a monolithic bed with genuine full contact, ultra-high compressive capacity, and the fatigue resistance that rotating and reciprocating machinery demands.
Where it is used
- Grouting of onshore wind turbine tower foundation joints under the steel base ring
- Soleplate and baseplate grouting for turbines, generators and heavy compressors
- Base grouting of industrial presses, machine tools and reciprocating equipment
- Bridge bearing seats and sole plate bedding under dynamic traffic loads
- Crane rail and gantry base grouting subject to cyclic and impact loading
- Heavy structural column, stanchion and portal frame base grouting
- Anchor bolt and holding-down bolt pocket filling for high-load fixings
- Precision grouting of power-plant machinery support structures
Key advantages
- Ultra-high compressive strength, typically ≥90 N/mm² at 28 days and ≥35 N/mm² in one day at 20°C
- Rapid early strength development allows faster commissioning of critical equipment
- Controlled positive expansion (up to ~2%) maintains full effective bearing under the plate
- High, self-levelling flow reaches under wide plates in a single continuous pour
- Single-component powder needs only clean water, giving consistent, repeatable results on site
- Excellent resistance to vibration, dynamic and cyclic fatigue loading
- Pumpable, making it suitable for large-volume and hard-to-reach placements
- Factory pre-blended formulation removes site batching variability
Limitations & considerations
- This is a cementitious grout, not an epoxy — for aggressive chemical exposure or oil-soaked bases an epoxy grout is the correct choice
- Layer thickness must stay within roughly 10 mm minimum and 200 mm maximum per pour; thicker sections need to be built up in lifts or aggregate-extended per Sika guidance
- Water dosage is critical — over-watering to gain flow will cut strength and can cause bleed, so the specified water demand must be respected
- The high early hydration generates heat, so very thick placements need attention to thermal build-up and adequate curing
- Short working window (pot life shortens sharply in hot weather), so mixing quantities must match placement speed
- Requires clean, saturated-surface-dry substrates and proper formwork or dams to hold the fluid grout in place
Selection & best practice
Start by roughening and pre-soaking the concrete substrate to a saturated surface-dry condition and confirm the steel underside is clean, dry and free of oil, grease and loose scale. Build tight, non-absorbent formwork with a generous head box on the pouring side and a free-flow gap on the far side to let air escape. Pour the exact water into the mixing vessel first, add the full bag while stirring with a slow-speed spiral paddle (roughly 200-500 rpm) and mix for about five minutes to a lump-free, uniform consistency — never add extra water to chase flow. Place continuously from one side only, in one direction, so the grout front pushes air out ahead of it; do not vibrate aggressively or the mix can segregate. Keep the mixed material moving and use it within its pot life, which shortens in hot conditions. Cure exposed edges immediately with wet hessian or a curing membrane, and in hot weather work in the cooler part of the day and keep materials shaded before mixing.

How we position Sika SikaGrout-295 IN
SikaGrout-295 IN is the flagship high-load grade in Sika’s Indian cementitious grout family. Where loads are lighter or budgets tighter, SikaGrout-214 IN serves general machine-base and anchor grouting; for chemically aggressive or oil-exposed foundations, step up to an epoxy grout such as Sikadur-42 IN rather than a cementitious grade. Space Arc also stocks equivalent high-performance grouts from our other principals — including Fosroc’s Conbextra range and MC-Bauchemie’s Emcekrete line — so we can match the grade to your load case, pour depth and chemistry rather than forcing one product to fit every job.
Fosroc Conbextra HF — A specifier working to a Fosroc specification, or needing a shrinkage-compensated high-flow grout that fills deeper base-plate gaps (up to about 125 mm) in a single pour, may prefer Conbextra HF.
