BrandSikaCategoryWaterproofingFormA ready-to-use liquid integral waterproofing compound for concrete, mortar and plaster, based on selected polymers…

What is it?

A ready-to-use liquid integral waterproofing compound for concrete, mortar and plaster, based on selected polymers and surface-active agents. Its distinctive pink tint confirms that the admixture has genuinely been added to the mix.

Where is it used?

Roof slabs and screeds, basements, water tanks, bathrooms, balconies, external plaster and other water-retaining structures across residential and commercial projects.

Why use it?

It blocks the capillary channels that let water creep through set concrete and plaster, cutting permeability without a separate membrane while also acting as a mild water reducer for denser, less crack-prone work.

How is it applied?

Added to the gauging water at 100 g per 50 kg bag of cement (0.2% by weight of cement), then mixed and placed as normal. No change to standard batching or curing routines.

About Sika SikaCim Pink

SikaCim Pink is one of the most widely specified integral waterproofing admixtures on Indian sites, and its appeal is largely down to how little it disrupts the way crews already work. It ships as a ready-to-use pink liquid built from selected polymers and surface-active agents. You pour it into the gauging water, mix, and pour or plaster as usual — there is no membrane to lay, no primer, no waiting on a separate trade. The waterproofing becomes part of the concrete or mortar itself rather than a skin sitting on top of it, which is exactly what site engineers want in wet areas where a surface coating would eventually be abraded, punctured or debonded.

The pink colour is more than branding. On a busy pour, the single most common reason integral waterproofing fails is simply that someone forgot to add it, or added the wrong quantity. Because SikaCim Pink visibly tints the mix, a supervisor can tell at a glance whether a batch was dosed — and roughly whether it was dosed correctly. For a distributor-applicator like Space Arc supplying contractors across Delhi NCR and pan-India, that self-checking behaviour is a genuine quality-control lever, not a gimmick. The product conforms to IS 9103 (concrete admixtures) and IS 2645 (integral waterproofing compounds), so it slots cleanly into specifications that reference those standards.

The technical insight

Water does not usually get through sound concrete by pushing through solid paste — it travels along the fine, interconnected capillary pores left behind when excess mix water evaporates. SikaCim Pink attacks that problem on two fronts. The surface-active agents lower the water demand of the mix, so the same workability can be reached at a lower water-cement ratio; less free water means fewer and finer capillaries once the concrete hardens. The polymer fraction then works within those remaining pores, interrupting and blocking the continuous capillary paths so that moisture has no easy route to migrate through the section. The combined effect is a denser, more cohesive matrix that resists water ingress from within rather than relying on a barrier at the face. As a useful by-product, the lower water content reduces plastic and drying shrinkage, so there are fewer of the fine cracks that would otherwise become fresh leakage paths.

Where it is used

  • Waterproofing of RCC roof slabs and protective screeds
  • Basement walls, rafts and retaining structures below grade
  • Internal and external plaster for bathrooms, toilets and balconies
  • Overhead and underground water tanks and other water-retaining structures
  • Sunk portions, sumps and drains in wet service areas
  • External wall plaster exposed to driving rain
  • Repair and renovation mortars where dampness is a recurring issue
  • Screeds and beds requiring reduced water permeability

Key advantages

  • Waterproofs from within, so there is no membrane to puncture, abrade or debond over time
  • Pink tint gives an instant visual check that every batch was actually dosed
  • Acts as a mild water reducer, improving density and cutting shrinkage cracking
  • Compatible with all common Portland cements, including slag and blended cements
  • Reduces mortar rebound and wastage in plastering, saving material and labour
  • Helps protect embedded reinforcement by lowering water penetration to the steel
  • Simple gauging-water addition — no change to standard batching or curing
  • Conforms to IS 9103 and IS 2645, so it fits standard specifications

Limitations & considerations

  • It is an integral admixture, not a coating — it will not bridge existing cracks or seal a leaking structure on its own
  • Performance depends on correct dosing; under- or over-dosing undermines the benefit, so batching discipline matters
  • Not a substitute for a bonded or liquid membrane where positive-side or negative-side barrier waterproofing is specified
  • Good concrete practice still applies — proper compaction, cover and curing are essential; it cannot rescue a poorly made mix
  • Effectiveness against standing hydrostatic pressure is limited compared with dedicated membrane or crystalline systems
  • Store between +10°C and +40°C and use within the 24-month shelf life; the pink liquid is a hazy suspension and should be stirred if it has stood

Selection & best practice

Add SikaCim Pink to the measured gauging water before combining with cement and aggregate — never pour it directly onto dry cement — at 100 g per 50 kg bag of cement (0.2% by weight of cement). Stir the container if the liquid has been standing, since it is a hazy suspension. Use the pink colour as a live check on the mixing platform: if a batch looks weak or uncoloured, it has been under-dosed and should be corrected before placing. Keep the water-cement ratio as low as workability allows so the admixture’s water-reducing action can do its job, then compact thoroughly and cure properly. The product changes the mix, not the discipline — cover, compaction and curing still decide the result.

Industry use cases

Residential roofing

Dosed into RCC roof slabs and protective screeds on independent houses and apartments to resist monsoon ingress without a separate roof membrane.

Wet areas & bathrooms

Added to bathroom, toilet and balcony plaster and screed so sunk portions and wall junctions stay damp-free in daily service.

Water-retaining structures

Used in overhead and underground tanks and sumps to lower permeability of the concrete holding the water.

Basements & below-grade

Batched into basement rafts, walls and retaining structures to reduce moisture migration through the section from surrounding soil.

External facades

Mixed into external wall plaster on buildings exposed to driving rain, cutting through-plaster dampness and interior staining.

Frequently asked questions

Is SikaCim Pink a waterproof coating or a mix additive?
It is a mix additive. You add it to the gauging water so the concrete, mortar or plaster becomes water-resistant from within. It is not brushed or sprayed onto a finished surface, and it does not form a membrane.
How much SikaCim Pink do I add?
The standard dosage is 100 g per 50 kg bag of cement, which is 0.2% by weight of cement. Keeping to this rate matters — the pink tint helps supervisors confirm each batch has been dosed.
Why is it pink?
The colour is a built-in quality check. Because it visibly tints the mix, a supervisor can see at a glance whether a batch was dosed and roughly whether the quantity was right, which is the single biggest cause of integral waterproofing failing on site.
Will it stop an existing leak or seal cracks?
No. As an integral admixture it works only in fresh mixes and does not bridge existing cracks or seal a structure that is already leaking. For live cracks or negative-side water you would use a crack-injection resin, a crystalline slurry or a bonded membrane instead.
Is it compatible with the cement I already use?
Yes. It is easily dispersible and compatible with all common Portland cements, including slag and blended cements, so it works with the OPC and PPC/PSC typically used on Indian sites.
Does it meet Indian standards?
Yes. SikaCim Pink conforms to IS 9103 for concrete admixtures and IS 2645 for integral cement waterproofing compounds, so it fits specifications that call out those standards.

How we position Sika SikaCim Pink

SikaCim Pink is the go-to when the goal is integral, mix-in waterproofing with a visible dosing check for everyday RCC, screed and plaster work. Where a project instead needs to waterproof a leaking or below-grade structure, pair it with a surface system from the Sika family — Sika’s cementitious slurry coatings or Sikalastic liquid membranes for positive-side protection, or a Sika crystalline product for negative-side and self-healing behaviour. For sealing active cracks and construction joints, look to Sika’s injection resins and hydrophilic waterstops rather than an admixture. Across our other brands, Space Arc also stocks comparable integral compounds from Dr. Fixit (Pidiproof LW+) and Fosroc, so specifiers can match brand approvals on a given site.
