Sikadur-43 IN is a three-component, solvent-free, thixotropic epoxy mortar engineered for structural concrete repair in hot ambient conditions where standard epoxy mortars such as Sikadur-41 IN would have insufficient pot life. Formulated with a hardener system optimized for elevated temperatures (above 30°C and up to 40°C+), it maintains a workable consistency for a longer period in hot weather, allowing adequate time for application and finishing on large repair areas. It achieves the same high compressive strength, excellent adhesion, and chemical resistance characteristics as other Sikadur mortars, but with the extended working window that Indian summer conditions demand. Why is a special hot weather epoxy mortar needed in India?
Standard epoxy mortars cure faster at high temperatures, significantly reducing pot life. In Indian summers at 35–40°C ambient, a standard epoxy mortar may set in 15–20 minutes, making it impractical for large repairs. Sikadur-43 IN is formulated to remain workable for 25–35 minutes even at these elevated temperatures.
Can Sikadur-43 IN be used in cooler temperatures?
Sikadur-43 IN can be used at temperatures down to around 20°C, but at lower temperatures the cure will be slower than expected for a hot weather formulation. For repairs at temperatures consistently below 25°C, Sikadur-41 IN may be the more appropriate product.
