SikaWrap-430 G
Unidirectional E-glass fibre fabric for strengthening and non-conductive applications
Product Overview
SikaWrap-430 G is a unidirectional woven E-glass fibre fabric used as externally bonded reinforcement in the Sika strengthening system. The 0-degree white glass filaments carry tensile load, while a thermoplastic heat-set weft holds the sheet stable for handling. Saturated on site with Sikadur epoxy by wet or dry lay-up, it forms a tough glass laminate bonded to concrete, masonry, brickwork or timber. Because glass is electrically non-conductive and lower in modulus than carbon, the fabric is preferred where electromagnetic transparency, blast mitigation or higher strain capacity matters, as well as for general seismic and refurbishment strengthening. It is a cost-effective entry into FRP upgrades. Space Arc Engineering, an authorized Sika distributor in India, supplies SikaWrap-430 G with the matching Sikadur resins for strengthening contractors nationwide.
Features & Benefits
- Electrically non-conductive E-glass suits substations, hospitals and EMI-sensitive areas
- Higher strain to failure (about 2.7%) gives ductile, energy-absorbing reinforcement for blast and seismic use
- Installs by both wet lay-up (Sikadur-300) and dry lay-up (Sikadur-330) methods
- Cost-effective glass alternative to carbon for moderate strengthening needs
- Drapes readily over columns, walls and curved surfaces of varied geometry
- Corrosion-free and low weight, avoiding the cover-loss issues of steel plating
Technical Highlights
| Coverage | Dry lay-up with primer uses about 1.2 to 1.6 kg/m2 on the first layer and 1.0 kg/m2 per added layer; wet lay-up consumption differs, refer to TDS. |
| Strength | Dry glass fibre tensile strength around 2,500 N/mm2 with a tensile modulus near 72,000 N/mm2 and elongation at break of about 2.7%. |
| Performance | Single-layer laminate gives roughly 1,500 N/mm2 mean tensile strength with a modulus near 70 kN/mm2, refer to TDS for design data. |
| Application Conditions | Bond to a clean, sound, open-textured substrate with minimum 1.0 N/mm2 pull-off; follow Sikadur resin temperature and humidity limits, refer to TDS. |
| Packaging | Supplied as rolls 600 mm wide and 50 m or more in length. |
Applications
- Strengthening structures near electrical substations and transmission equipment where conductivity must be avoided
- Blast mitigation and impact upgrades on infrastructure and defence facilities
- Seismic strengthening and confinement of masonry and concrete buildings
- Refurbishment of corrosion-affected industrial and marine structures
- Strengthening residential and commercial walls, slabs and columns on a budget

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose SikaWrap-430 G glass fabric over a carbon fabric?
Glass fibre is electrically non-conductive and has higher strain to failure, so SikaWrap-430 G is preferred for EMI-sensitive sites, blast and impact mitigation, and where a more economical, more ductile strengthening solution is acceptable.
Is SikaWrap-430 G electrically conductive?
No. It uses E-glass fibres, which are electrically non-conductive, making it suitable for strengthening near substations, hospitals and other electromagnetically sensitive environments.
How is SikaWrap-430 G applied?
It is impregnated on site with Sikadur epoxy by either the wet lay-up method (Sikadur-300) or the dry lay-up method (Sikadur-330 with primer), then cured to form the structural glass laminate.
What is the fibre strength of SikaWrap-430 G?
The dry E-glass fibres have a tensile strength of about 2,500 N/mm2, a modulus near 72,000 N/mm2 and elongation at break of around 2.7 percent. Always use design values from the current TDS.
