SikaWrap-600 C
Heavy unidirectional stitched carbon fabric for high-capacity wet lay-up reinforcement
Product Overview
SikaWrap-600 C is a heavy, unidirectional stitched carbon fibre fabric at 600 g/m2, used as externally bonded reinforcement in the Sika strengthening system. The 0-degree carbon tows are held by a light polyester stitch and binder rather than woven, keeping filaments straight for efficient load transfer once saturated with Sikadur epoxy by the wet lay-up method. The thick cured laminate delivers high tensile capacity per layer, suiting members that need significant flexural, shear or column-confinement reinforcement, seismic upgrades and service-life extension. It bonds to reinforced concrete, masonry, brickwork and timber with minimal added weight. The high areal weight reduces the number of plies on demanding strengthening schemes. Space Arc Engineering, an authorized Sika distributor in India, supplies SikaWrap-600 C with the matching Sikadur resins for strengthening contractors.
Features & Benefits
- Heavy 600 g/m2 stitched sheet provides high tensile capacity per single layer
- Stitched non-woven construction keeps carbon tows straight for efficient load transfer
- Carbon fibres rated about 3,800 N/mm2 tensile strength with a 242,000 N/mm2 modulus
- Optimised for wet lay-up with Sikadur-300 or Sikadur-330 saturating resin
- Reduces ply count on high-demand flexural, shear and confinement strengthening
- Corrosion-immune, low-weight reinforcement avoiding steel plate limitations
Technical Highlights
| Coverage | Wet lay-up consumption is about 0.8 to 1.2 kg/m2 for the first layer and 0.85 to 1.0 kg/m2 for each following layer. |
| Strength | Dry carbon fibre tensile strength around 3,800 N/mm2 with a tensile modulus near 242,000 N/mm2 and elongation at break of about 1.43%. |
| Performance | Builds a thick 0.331 mm laminate with a characteristic tensile strength near 2,400 N/mm2 and modulus around 200 kN/mm2, refer to TDS. |
| Application Conditions | Bond to a clean, open-textured substrate of at least 1.0 N/mm2 tensile strength; follow Sikadur resin temperature and humidity limits, refer to TDS. |
| Packaging | Supplied as rolls 300 mm wide and 50 m or more in length, 2 rolls per carton. |
Applications
- High-capacity flexural and shear strengthening of major bridge and viaduct beams
- Seismic confinement and ductility upgrades of large concrete columns
- Reinforcing heavily loaded industrial girders and transfer structures
- Extending service life of distressed infrastructure and commercial frames
- Heavy strengthening of slabs and beams during structural rehabilitation

Frequently Asked Questions
What is SikaWrap-600 C used for?
It is a heavy 600 g/m2 stitched carbon fabric bonded to concrete, masonry, brickwork or timber to provide high-capacity flexural, shear and column-confinement reinforcement, seismic upgrades and service-life extension within the Sika strengthening system.
Is SikaWrap-600 C woven or stitched?
It is a stitched (non-woven) fabric. The carbon tows are held by a polyester stitch and binder rather than interlaced, which keeps the unidirectional fibres straight for efficient tensile load transfer.
How is SikaWrap-600 C applied?
It is designed for the wet lay-up method, where the fabric is saturated on site with Sikadur-300 or Sikadur-330 epoxy resin and pressed onto the prepared substrate to cure into the structural laminate.
Why use the heavy 600 g/m2 fabric instead of a lighter one?
The high areal weight forms a thick 0.331 mm laminate that carries more tensile load per layer, so SikaWrap-600 C can meet demanding strengthening requirements with fewer plies, saving labour and resin layers.
