Fosroc Structuro 312
A high-range water-reducing superplasticiser that turns stiff mixes into pumpable, self-flowing concrete while pushing up early-age strength gain.
What is it?
A new-generation liquid superplasticising admixture (high-range water reducer) that produces extremely fluid, flowable concrete with extended workability and good early strength, without loss of cohesion.
Where is it used?
Ready-mix and site-batched concrete for pumped pours, precast and architectural elements, raft and column concrete, and other applications needing high flow plus early strip times across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
Why use it?
It delivers strong water reduction so you can either cut water for higher strength or boost slump/flow for placement, while raising early and ultimate compressive strength and keeping the mix stable and homogeneous.
How is it applied?
Dosed into the gauging water or directly into the mixer at typically 0.2-2.0% by weight of cement; the optimum dose is established by trial mixes with the actual site materials. It is not added to dry cement.
About Fosroc Structuro 312
Fosroc Structuro 312 is a ready-to-use liquid superplasticising admixture engineered for concrete that must flow easily yet gain strength quickly. It belongs to Fosroc’s Structuro family of new-generation, high-activity water reducers and is supplied as a water-based, non-flammable liquid that is simply metered into the mix. In practical terms, Structuro 312 lets a producer take a conventional concrete and either make it dramatically more fluid at the same water content, or hold the same workability while removing a significant volume of water to lift strength and durability.
The product is built around the modern superplasticiser chemistry that has largely replaced older naphthalene and lignosulphonate water reducers. This chemistry disperses cement particles far more effectively, which is what allows extremely high flow without the bleeding, segregation or rapid slump loss that plague over-watered mixes. The “312” grade is positioned specifically for flowable concrete with good early strength, meaning it is a sensible choice where formwork has to be turned around quickly, where pours are pumped over distance, or where a dense, well-compacted finish is needed without heavy vibration.
For an Indian site or ready-mix plant, the appeal is straightforward. Aggregates and sand quality vary widely, ambient temperatures in much of the country are high for long stretches, and pours are frequently pumped to upper floors or across congested reinforcement. A superplasticiser like Structuro 312 gives the batching team a lever to keep concrete pumpable and self-levelling in those conditions while still meeting 7-day and 28-day strength targets. Because it is dosed as a liquid into the water, it fits existing dispensing systems without special equipment.
Space Arc Engineering supplies Fosroc Structuro 312 as an authorised Fosroc distributor across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, and can advise on dosage trials, compatibility with your cement and supplementary cementitious materials, and the right Structuro or Conplast grade for a given mix.
The technical insight
The performance of Structuro 312 comes from steric (physical spacing) dispersion of cement grains rather than the purely electrostatic action of first-generation water reducers. When cement meets water it tends to flocculate, trapping mixing water inside loose clumps; a high-range water reducer breaks up those flocs and frees that water, so the same paste behaves as if it had far more water in it. That is why you can either spend the freed water as flow (a highly workable, self-levelling, pumpable mix) or remove it from the batch (a lower water-cement ratio, hence higher strength and lower permeability) – the engineer chooses which. The “early strength” character of the 312 grade matters on fast-cycle work: a lower effective w/c ratio combined with efficient particle packing accelerates early hydration, so cubes gain usable strength sooner and formwork can be struck earlier. Dosage is the critical control variable – too little and you under-disperse; too much and you risk retardation, stickiness or, in extreme overdose, segregation – which is precisely why Fosroc specifies an optimum dose confirmed by trial mixes with the actual site materials, cement source and water temperature rather than a single fixed figure.
Where it is used
- Pumped concrete delivered to height or over long horizontal runs where slump retention is critical
- Self-compacting and self-levelling concrete that must flow into congested reinforcement without vibration
- Precast concrete units requiring fast formwork turnaround and good surface finish
- Architectural and fair-faced concrete where a dense, blemish-free finish is needed
- High-flow structural concrete for rafts, columns, beams and slabs in commercial and residential builds
- Ready-mix concrete production where transit-time workability and consistent slump are required
- Reduced-water, higher-strength mixes where the freed water is removed to lower the water-cement ratio
Key advantages
- High water-reducing power that can be used either for extra flow or for higher strength at the same workability
- Improved early-age and ultimate compressive strength, supporting faster formwork cycles
- Extended workability time, helping with longer transit and placing windows
- Produces extremely fluid, self-levelling concrete that often needs little or no vibration
- Stable, cohesive, homogeneous mix with reduced tendency to bleed or segregate when correctly dosed
- Water-based and non-flammable, simple to store and handle on site
- Liquid form meters easily into the gauging water or mixer using standard dispensing equipment
- Supports denser, less permeable concrete, which benefits durability in aggressive Indian exposure conditions
Limitations & considerations
- Optimum dosage is mix-specific and must be confirmed by trial batches with the actual cement, aggregates and water – there is no single universal dose
- Overdosing can cause excessive retardation, stickiness or, in severe cases, segregation and bleeding
- Performance and slump retention vary with ambient and concrete temperature, which is significant in Indian summer pours
- Compatibility with the specific cement, fly ash, GGBS and any other admixtures should be verified before bulk use
- It is an admixture, not a cure for poor mix design, badly graded aggregates or excess water added on site
- Has a finite shelf life and should be protected from freezing and from prolonged storage outside the recommended temperature band
- Always consult the current country-specific Fosroc technical data sheet, as exact figures can differ by region and edition
Selection & best practice
Always begin with laboratory or site trial mixes using your actual cement, sand, aggregate and water to fix the optimum dosage before committing to production, and re-check when any material or the season changes. Add Structuro 312 to the gauging water or directly into the mixer – never to dry cement – and maintain a consistent total water content so the admixture, not extra water, is doing the work. Keep the dose within the recommended range (typically around 0.2-2.0% by weight of cement) and avoid topping up with water on site to chase flow, which defeats the strength benefit. Account for concrete temperature in hot weather, since high temperatures shorten the workability window. Store containers sealed, off the ground, away from direct sun and protected from freezing, and confirm every figure against the latest country-specific Fosroc TDS. For project-specific dosage and compatibility advice, Space Arc Engineering can support trials and supply across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.

How we position Fosroc Structuro 312
Within Fosroc’s own range, Structuro 312 sits among the new-generation Structuro superplasticisers and is best chosen when flowable concrete plus good early strength is the priority; closely related grades include Structuro 311 (self-compacting and self-levelling concrete), Structuro 351 and 352 (general manufactured concrete) and Structuro 343T (tunnel-lining concrete), while the older Conplast SP430/SP435 range remains a conventional high-range water reducer option for high early strengths. Against competitor products, it is comparable to high-range water-reducing superplasticisers such as Sika’s ViscoCrete family, BASF/Master Builders Solutions MasterGlenium, and equivalent superplasticisers from STP and Dr. Fixit (Pidilite); the right choice on any given project depends on cement source, target strength, ambient temperature and how the mix will be placed. Space Arc Engineering, as an authorised Fosroc distributor serving Delhi NCR and Pan-India, can help match Structuro 312 against these alternatives and run dosage trials so the selection is based on verified performance with your actual materials rather than on data sheet figures alone.
