STP ShaliGrout 50
A single-component, free-flow, non-shrink cementitious grout that just needs site water to deliver dense, high-strength support under base plates and in confined pockets.
What is it?
A ready-to-use, single-component non-shrink cementitious grout from STP that flows freely and cures to over 50 MPa without segregation.
Where is it used?
Under machine and column base plates, in anchor-bolt pockets, precast joints and structural voids where full contact bearing matters.
Why use it?
Its shrinkage-compensated binder keeps the hardened grout in intimate contact with the substrate, so load transfers evenly with no hollow gaps.
How is it applied?
Add clean water on site to the single powder, mix to a flowable consistency and pour continuously from one side to fill the gap.
About STP ShaliGrout 50
STP ShaliGrout 50 is the everyday workhorse in a project team’s grouting kit: a factory-blended, single-component cementitious grout that is engineered to flow into tight gaps and set into a dense, high-strength mass. Because everything is pre-batched into one powder, the site crew only adds clean water, mixes and pours. There is no second component to measure, no aggregate to gauge separately and far less room for the batch-to-batch variation that plagues site-mixed sand-cement grouts. That consistency is exactly what a consultant wants to see under a critical base plate.
The product belongs to STP’s ShaliGrout family and is aimed at general precision grouting where both strength and fluidity are needed at the same time. In practice that covers most light-to-medium equipment foundations, column bases and pocket-filling on ordinary building and infrastructure jobs. It reaches beyond 50 MPa at 28 days, which comfortably exceeds the strength of the surrounding structural concrete on the majority of sites, so the grout is rarely the weak link in the load path. For teams already standardised on STP for waterproofing and repair, it keeps the supply chain and the site familiarity within one brand.
The technical insight
The performance of any structural grout comes down to a single question: does the hardened material stay in full contact with the steel above and the concrete below? Ordinary cement mortars shrink as they cure, pulling away from the base plate and leaving a thin air gap that concentrates load and lets water in. ShaliGrout 50 is built around a shrinkage-compensating binder that generates a small, controlled expansion in the plastic state, offsetting the natural drying shrinkage so the set grout keeps bearing across the whole footprint. Pair that with a free-flow rheology and a graded aggregate skeleton, and the mix travels under the plate under its own head, filling the honeycomb and bolt pockets without needing to be rodded aggressively or pressure-injected. The result is a monolithic, low-void bearing layer that transfers static and dynamic loads uniformly into the foundation.
Where it is used
- Grouting under light-to-medium equipment and machine base plates
- Filling anchor-bolt pockets and holding-down bolt sleeves
- Column base-plate and stanchion grouting on steel structures
- Bedding precast concrete elements and filling their joints
- Filling structural voids, honeycombs and gaps in concrete
- General civil and infrastructure grouting where flow and strength are both needed
- Rigid packing beneath bearing plates and support brackets
Key advantages
- Single component – only clean site water is added, cutting mixing errors
- Free-flowing consistency reaches into tight gaps and pockets without heavy rodding
- Non-shrink, shrinkage-compensated binder keeps full contact with the substrate
- Develops over 50 MPa at 28 days, typically stronger than the surrounding concrete
- Dense, low-void set for uniform load transfer under base plates
- Factory blend gives consistent, repeatable quality bag to bag
- Familiar STP supply chain for teams already using the brand for repair and waterproofing
Limitations & considerations
- Cementitious chemistry suits static and moderate loads; very high-vibration or high-temperature machinery may call for an epoxy grout
- Effective gap depth is limited – free-flow cementitious grouts are typically placed at 25-100 mm, so deeper pours need pre-packing with aggregate
- Strength and expansion depend on correct water dosage; over-watering to ease flow will reduce strength and cause bleed
- Needs proper curing to reach rated strength and resist plastic cracking, which matters in hot, dry Indian site conditions
- Not a chemical- or acid-resistant grout for aggressive exposure without a separate protective system
- Full published data (yield per bag, exact standard reference) should be confirmed against STP’s current TDS for a given batch
Selection & best practice
Start with a clean, sound and pre-saturated substrate: remove laitance, oil and debris, and soak the concrete so it is saturated but surface-dry before pouring, otherwise the dry concrete robs water from the grout. Build a leak-tight formwork with a head box on the pouring side and enough clearance to let the grout escape on the far side. Use the full water quantity given on the bag – measure it, do not judge by eye – and mix mechanically to a lump-free, flowable slurry. Pour continuously from one side only so the grout pushes air ahead of it and no cold joint or trapped void forms; keep a steady head to maintain flow. Once placed, trim back the surplus, protect the exposed edges and cure with wet hessian or a curing compound, paying extra attention in hot or windy weather. Place within the working time of the mix and never re-temper stiffened grout with more water.

How we position STP ShaliGrout 50
ShaliGrout 50 is STP’s general-purpose precision grout – the right pick for routine base-plate and pocket grouting where you need flow and 50-plus MPa strength but not epoxy performance. Within the STP family, step up to a higher-strength ShaliGrout grade (such as ShaliGrout HS) when the design calls for greater compressive strength, or move to an epoxy grouting system for heavy dynamic machinery and chemically aggressive duty. Pair it with STP’s repair mortars and waterproofing range to keep a single-brand system on the job. If a specification is written around a particular brand, we also supply equivalent grouts from Fosroc, Sika, MC-Bauchemie and other lines we distribute, so the choice can follow the consultant’s approval list rather than the shelf.
Fosroc Conbextra GP2 — Specify the Fosroc option when the project’s approved-vendor list or a slightly higher strength grade (around 60-65 N/mm2, ASTM C1107) is called for by the consultant.
