MC-Bauchemie MC-Proof eco
A two-component, bitumen-free flexible coating that tanks basements, terraces and foundations in two fast coats, with no primer step.
What is it?
A fast-drying, two-component (powder + liquid) flexible waterproofing coating, mixed 1:1, bitumen-free, carrying European Technical Assessment ETA-18/0324 for verified crack-bridging performance.
Where is it used?
Basement and retaining walls, foundations and base plates, terraces and inclined slabs, plinth/splash zones, movement joints on water-resistant concrete, and refurbishment over old, failed waterproofing.
Why use it?
No priming step on sound substrates, real elastomeric crack-bridging rather than a rigid slurry, rain-resistant in about 4 hours, and a dense film that slows CO2 carbonation and is stated chloride- and radon-proof.
How is it applied?
Powder and liquid components are mixed 1:1 by weight with a slow-speed anchor stirrer for a full 3 minutes, then trowelled, brushed or sprayed on in two fresh-in-fresh coats to a minimum 2mm total dry film, after pre-wetting and a scratch coat on mineral substrates.
About MC-Bauchemie MC-Proof eco
For a Delhi NCR basement dug into clay with a water table that climbs every monsoon, the waterproofing coat is doing the one job nobody gets a second chance at. MC-Proof eco is MC-Bauchemie’s two-component, bitumen-free answer for that tanking work — powder and liquid components a site crew mixes and trowels or brushes on in two coats. Being bitumen-free, there’s none of the solvent smell that makes a confined basement pour unpleasant, and because it cures into a genuinely flexible, crack-bridging film rather than a rigid skin, it tolerates the hairline shrinkage cracking green RCC almost always throws in its first year.
It sits inside MC-Bauchemie’s wider MC-Proof range alongside MC-Proof 101 HS (a sulphate-resisting internal sealing slurry), MC-Proof one (a one-component version of the same chemistry) and MC-Proof SLM (a self-levelling membrane for slabs) — so a specifier can stay within one compatible family. Space Arc supplies and applies it across Delhi NCR and pan-India as an authorised MC-Bauchemie distributor, sourcing it to project order since it isn’t yet part of MC-Bauchemie India’s standing catalogue — worth building into your procurement timeline.
The technical insight
The “FPD” (flexible polymer-modified thick coating) classification is what separates MC-Proof eco from older bituminous tanking and ordinary cementitious slurries. Its powder component carries cement and mineral fillers; the liquid component carries a polymer dispersion that, once sheared together for the full 3-minute mix the datasheet insists on, cross-links into an elastomeric matrix rather than a purely rigid one — which is why it bridges a moving hairline crack where a straight crystalline slurry would just crack with the substrate. The datasheet’s resistance-to-diffusion figure, a coefficient of 118,000 against CO2, is the number that matters for reinforcement durability: a low-permeability film slows carbonation reaching the rebar, the actual mechanism behind most below-grade RCC corrosion in polluted or coastal Indian cities. Set against bituminous coatings, which need UV protection boards and degrade with age, its stated high UV- and frost-resistance and paintable/plasterable finish let it stay exposed at plinth level without an extra protection layer in many details.
Where it is used
- Basement and retaining-wall tanking on masonry and RCC structures
- Foundation and base-plate waterproofing ahead of backfill
- Terrace, balcony and inclined-slab sealing beneath screed or tile
- Refurbishment coat over ageing or failed old waterproofing
- Movement and construction-joint sealing on water-resistant raft concrete, reinforced with Nafuflex Grid 25 NF
- Plinth-level sealing in splash-water and damp-proof-course zones
- Bonding coat ahead of protection-and-drainage board installation
- Below-grade sealing where carbonation, chloride or radon ingress is a design concern
Key advantages
- No separate primer needed on a sound, pre-wetted mineral substrate.
- Bitumen-free formulation, so no solvent odour in a confined basement pour.
- Genuine elastomeric crack-bridging, unlike the rigid film of a straight cementitious slurry.
- Rain-resistant in about 4 hours, so backfill or follow-on trades resume sooner.
- Can be plastered or painted over directly, simplifying the finishing schedule.
- Backed by European Technical Assessment ETA-18/0324, not manufacturer claims alone.
- Low CO2 diffusion (μ = 118,000) plus stated chloride- and radon-proof performance.
- 12-month shelf life (-5°C to 30°C) gives sites slack to carry stock across a monsoon.
Limitations & considerations
- Two coats, fresh-in-fresh, with a strict 3-minute slow-speed mix — crews used to one-coat slurries need a walkthrough or early coats under-perform.
- Narrow application window (1-30°C, kept off rain until cured) is tricky to schedule through a Delhi monsoon or peak summer.
- Not currently in MC-Bauchemie India’s live stocked catalogue — Space Arc sources it to project order, so build in lead time.
- Minimum 2mm dry film across two coats means higher material consumption than a single light cementitious damp-proofing coat.
- Only as good as the substrate under it — laitance, curing-compound residue or oil staining will undermine adhesion regardless of the coating’s flexibility.
- Supplied as a factory-proportioned 20kg kit, so partial-pack use isn’t practical on small patch-repair jobs.
Selection & best practice
Get the substrate right first: clean, frost-free, dry, free of dust, mould-release residue, laitance or gaping cracks, with anything over 5mm filled using a barrier mortar such as Nafuquick and a concave fillet formed at every floor-to-wall junction. Pre-wet mineral substrates and lay a scratch coat before the two main coats. Mix strictly 1:1 by weight with a slow-speed anchor stirrer for the full 3 minutes the datasheet calls for — under-mixing is the most common site-quality failure with two-component coatings — then apply both coats fresh-in-fresh, keeping each wet pass under about 6mm and the total dry film at a minimum of 2mm. Protect from rain until rain-resistant (roughly 4 hours at 23°C/50% RH) and from frost or standing water until fully dry (around 24 hours, longer in cold or humid weather), and don’t backfill an excavation until a witness sample stored in the pit confirms it’s dry through.

How we position MC-Bauchemie MC-Proof eco
Within MC-Bauchemie’s own range, MC-Proof eco is the two-component workhorse for real vertical and horizontal tanking; MC-Proof one covers the same flexible chemistry as a one-component product for smaller or awkward-access jobs, MC-Proof 101 HS is the sulphate-resisting choice for internal damp-proofing of masonry, and MC-Proof SLM takes the self-levelling route for floor slabs — all compatible details a specifier can combine under one manufacturer. Outside the MC-Bauchemie family, Fosroc’s Brushbond FLXIII is a genuine functional equivalent — also two-component, polymer-modified, crack-bridging and primer-free — a reasonable alternative where a project’s approved-vendor list or existing Fosroc specification history makes it the easier fit; the two are close enough in mechanism that the choice usually comes down to project history and current landed pricing rather than a real performance gap.
Fosroc Brushbond FLXIII — Where a project’s specification already runs on Fosroc or the approved-vendor list doesn’t carry MC-Bauchemie, Brushbond FLXIII gives a specifier a near-identical two-component, crack-bridging, primer-free flexible coating to fall back on.
