STP ShaliGrout 90
A ready-to-use, single-component non-shrink cementitious grout that flows freely into confined base plates and anchor pockets, then sets to a dense, high-strength bearing without settlement.
What is it?
A single-component, non-shrink, high-flow cementitious grout supplied as a ready-to-use dry powder that needs only clean water on site, formulated to ASTM C1107.
Where is it used?
Under machine and pump base plates, structural column bases, anchor-bolt pockets, precast joints and other confined gaps up to 100 mm thick.
Why use it?
It fills tight cavities completely without bleeding away strength, and its controlled plastic expansion prevents the settlement voids that plain sand-cement grout leaves under a loaded base plate.
How is it applied?
Gauge the powder with the recommended clean water, mix to a flowable consistency, and pour continuously from one side so the grout advances across the gap and displaces trapped air.
About STP ShaliGrout 90
STP ShaliGrout 90 is a factory-blended, non-shrink cementitious grout built for situations where a grout has to travel a long way through a narrow confined space and still arrive dense and strong. It reaches site as a single-component dry powder, so there is no separate liquid additive to meter or store incorrectly; the crew adds only clean water at the recommended ratio and mixes to a self-levelling consistency. That single-pack format is a genuine advantage on busy Indian project sites, where mistakes usually come from field batching rather than from the material itself, and where a grout that pours cleanly under a heavy base plate saves hours of chasing voids.
The product is engineered around controlled expansion in the plastic stage, meaning it grows very slightly while still workable to compensate for the natural shrinkage of cement as it sets. The result is positive, gap-filling contact between the grout and both the base plate above and the foundation below, which is exactly what transfers load properly through the joint. It complies with ASTM C1107, the international benchmark for packaged non-shrink hydraulic-cement grouts, and can be poured in a single lift for gap thicknesses up to 100 mm. For contractors and consultants, that combination of high fluidity, non-shrink behaviour and a recognised standard is why ShaliGrout 90 shows up on equipment-foundation and anchoring specifications across the country.
The technical insight
The behaviour that matters in a bearing grout is what happens in the first few hours, not just the 28-day cube result. Ordinary sand-cement mortar bleeds and then shrinks as it hydrates, so it pulls away from the underside of the base plate and leaves a thin gap precisely where you need full contact. ShaliGrout 90 works the other way: a shrinkage-compensating binder generates a small, controlled expansion while the mix is still plastic, so the grout presses up against the steel rather than dropping away from it. Because the powder is a pre-graded natural-aggregate system, it can be gauged fluid enough to self-level and flow under confinement without the aggregate segregating or the water bleeding to the top. That is what lets it carry high fluidity and high strength at the same time instead of trading one for the other. The net effect under a loaded machine is uniform, gap-free contact across the whole bearing area, so vibration and dynamic loads are transmitted into the foundation evenly instead of hammering on a few high spots.
Where it is used
- Grouting under rotating and reciprocating machinery base plates where dynamic loads demand full, void-free bearing contact
- Structural steel column base plates and stanchion foundations in industrial and commercial frames
- Anchor-bolt pockets, holding-down bolts and dowel bars set into pre-formed recesses
- Precast concrete joints, keyways and connection pockets in modular and industrial construction
- Filling confined gaps and voids up to 100 mm thick in a single continuous pour
- Bedding of crane rails, track bases and rail fastening systems that carry repetitive loads
- Bridge-bearing and bearing-plate seating where consistent load transfer is critical
- General void filling and under-pinning where a free-flowing, non-shrink grout is specified
Key advantages
- Single-component dry powder — only clean water is added on site, removing field batching errors
- Controlled plastic expansion compensates for setting shrinkage and keeps positive contact under the base plate
- High flowability lets it self-level and travel under confined base plates without segregating
- Complies with ASTM C1107, the recognised international standard for non-shrink cement grouts
- Handles wide gaps up to 100 mm thick in a single lift, reducing the need for staged pours
- Delivers high compressive strength suitable for structural and heavy machinery foundations
- Supplied in 25 kg moisture-resistant bags for consistent, quality-controlled dosing
- Ready-to-use format speeds up placement and cuts wastage compared with site-mixed grout
Limitations & considerations
- Cementitious, not epoxy — for aggressive chemical exposure or very high dynamic fatigue an epoxy grout is the better choice
- Maximum single-lift thickness is 100 mm; deeper or larger pockets need staged pours or a specifier’s guidance
- Water dosage must be kept to the recommended limit — over-watering to make it flow easier destroys strength and re-introduces shrinkage
- Needs proper confinement (formwork or shutter) on the open side so the fluid grout does not simply run out
- Like all cement grouts it must be cured and protected against rapid drying, especially in hot, windy Indian summer conditions
- Exact strength, flow and water-demand figures should be read from the current STP TDS for the specific batch before specification
Selection & best practice
Start with a sound substrate: the concrete foundation should be clean, sound, free of laitance, oil and loose material, and pre-soaked so it is saturated but surface-dry before grouting, otherwise the dry concrete pulls water out of the grout. Set tight, leak-proof formwork with a head box or reservoir on the pouring side and enough clearance on the far side to let air escape. Mix mechanically with a slow-speed paddle using only the recommended quantity of clean water — resist the temptation to add extra water to make it flow, because that is the single most common cause of weak, shrinking grout. Pour continuously from one side only so the grout front advances steadily across the gap and pushes trapped air ahead of it; never pour from both sides or you will lock in a void. Keep a hydrostatic head during the pour to maintain flow, and once placed, cure the exposed grout promptly with wet hessian or a curing membrane, particularly in high temperatures. Mix only what can be placed within the working time and never re-temper stiffened material with more water.

How we position STP ShaliGrout 90
ShaliGrout 90 is STP’s free-flowing, single-component non-shrink grout for machine bases, column bases and anchor pockets up to 100 mm. Within STP’s own cementitious range, pair it with ShaliFix-type repair mortars and ShaliBond bonding agents for the substrate preparation and patch repairs that usually accompany a foundation job, and step across to STP’s epoxy grouts where chemical resistance or heavy dynamic fatigue rules out a cementitious system. Because Space Arc carries the major construction-chemical brands, we can cross-specify equivalents where a project or consultant prefers a particular house: Fosroc Conbextra for non-shrink grouting, Sika SikaGrout for the same duty, and MC-Bauchemie’s Emcekrete grouts. If your specification calls for a general-purpose non-shrink cementitious grout, the closest Fosroc equivalent is Conbextra GP2; talk to our technical team and we will match the grade to your gap thickness, strength class and pour method.
Fosroc Conbextra GP2 — Specify the Fosroc Conbextra GP2 when the project or consultant standardises on Fosroc for its general-purpose non-shrink cementitious grouting, as a direct like-for-like alternative to ShaliGrout 90.
