Fosroc Auramix 200
New-generation polycarboxylic ether (PCE) high-performance superplasticiser engineered for flowable, pumpable and precast concrete with extended workability retention.
What is it?
Fosroc Auramix 200 is a new-generation, high-performance superplasticiser based on polycarboxylic ether (PCE) polymer with a long lateral chain. Its electrostatic dispersion mechanism considerably reduces the water demand of flowable concrete.
Where is it used?
Used across Indian RMC plants, precast yards and infrastructure works for low and high grade concrete requiring high workability, pumpability and extended workability retention, including in hot-weather conditions.
Why use it?
Delivers high-performance water demand reduction with long workability retention, making concrete easier to pump and place while supporting durable, cohesive mixes. Chloride-free as per BS 5075.
How is it applied?
Added to the concrete mix at 0.3 to 1.5 percent by weight of total cement or binder content, established by site trial. Compatible with all standard Portland cements; optimum dosage is confirmed through trial mixes.
About Fosroc Auramix 200
Fosroc Auramix 200 is a new-generation, high-performance superplasticiser supplied by Fosroc and distributed in Delhi NCR and across India by Space Arc Engineering, an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator. The product is a unique combination of new-generation superplasticiser based on polycarboxylic ether (PCE) polymer with a long lateral chain. Its electrostatic dispersion mechanism considerably reduces the water demand in flowable concrete, allowing concrete producers to achieve high workability without compromising the water-binder ratio.
Engineered for Indian construction conditions, Auramix 200 is suitable for both low and high grade concrete. It is widely specified in ready-mixed concrete (RMC) operations, precast and prestressed elements, and infrastructure projects where long workability retention, pumpability and cohesive, dense concrete are essential. The product is a light brown liquid with a volumetric mass of 1.07 +/- 0.02 kg/litre at 25C and a pH of minimum 6.0. It is water based and non-flammable, and contains nil chloride as per BS 5075, making it well suited to reinforced and prestressed concrete where chloride limits are critical.
Auramix 200 complies with IS:9103 (water reducing and retarding type), BS:5075 and ASTM C 494 Type G, positioning it as a water-reducing and retarding admixture for demanding placement schedules. As an authorised Fosroc partner, Space Arc Engineering supplies Auramix 200 alongside the wider Fosroc admixture range, and can advise on selection against comparable polycarboxylate-based superplasticisers from BASF (Master Builders Solutions), Sika and MC-Bauchemie where project specifications call for a named alternative.
The technical insight
Auramix 200 works through an electrostatic dispersion mechanism. The polycarboxylic ether polymer carries long lateral (side) chains that adsorb onto cement grains and create both electrostatic charge repulsion and steric hindrance, separating the particles and releasing trapped mixing water. This considerably reduces water demand in flowable concrete and improves particle dispersion compared with conventional admixtures. Because the product is classified under ASTM C 494 as Type G (water reducing and retarding) and under IS:9103 as a water-reducing and retarding type, it also helps control the rate of stiffening, which supports the long workability retention needed for ready-mixed and pumped concrete in hot weather. Optimum dosage is established by trial within the published range, allowing the mix designer to balance workability retention, set characteristics and strength development for a given cement or binder combination.
Where it is used
- Ready-mixed concrete (RMC) requiring high workability and extended retention
- Pumpable concrete for high-rise and long-distance placement
- Precast and prestressed concrete elements
- Low and high grade concrete across infrastructure projects
- Hot-weather concreting where workability retention is critical
- Reinforced and prestressed work demanding chloride-free admixtures
Key advantages
- New-generation polycarboxylic ether (PCE) chemistry with long lateral chain for efficient dispersion
- Considerably reduces water demand in flowable concrete via electrostatic dispersion
- Long workability retention, ideal for RMC and pumped concrete
- Suitable for both low and high grade concrete with no grade restriction
- Nil chloride content as per BS 5075, safe for reinforced and prestressed concrete
- Water based and non-flammable for safe site handling
- Complies with IS:9103, BS:5075 and ASTM C 494 Type G
- Minimum 12-month shelf life for reliable stock management
Limitations & considerations
- Optimum dosage must be established by site trial; performance depends on cement and binder characteristics
- Dosage should remain within the recommended 0.3 to 1.5 percent by weight of total cement or binder content
- As a Type G (retarding) admixture, setting time effects should be assessed for cold-weather or early-strength-critical placements
- Store between 20C and 50C; shelf life is a minimum of 12 months under correct storage
- Compatibility with other admixtures should be verified by trial before combined use
Selection & best practice
Always establish the optimum dosage of Auramix 200 by trial mix using the project’s actual cement or binder, aggregates and target slump, working within the recommended range of 0.3 to 1.5 percent by weight of total cement or binder content. Add the admixture to the gauging water or the wet mix rather than dosing onto dry cement, and avoid exceeding the recommended dosage to control set retardation. Store drums between 20C and 50C and use within the minimum 12-month shelf life. For hot-weather RMC and long pump runs, confirm workability retention on a trial batch under site temperatures before committing to a production mix design.

Industry use cases
Ready-Mixed Concrete (RMC)
Maintains high workability and long retention during transit and pumping, helping RMC plants deliver placeable concrete to site across Delhi NCR and beyond, including in hot weather.
Precast & Prestressed
Supports cohesive, dense, well-compacted precast and prestressed elements; the nil-chloride (BS 5075) formulation suits prestressed work where chloride limits are strict.
Infrastructure
Used in both low and high grade concrete for bridges, highways and large infrastructure pours where water reduction and pumpability are required.
High-Rise Construction
Enables pumpable concrete for tall structures with extended workability retention, reducing placement and compaction difficulties on long vertical pumps.
