Rapid-Gain High-Strength Cementitious Repair Mortar for Fast Track Repairs

Authorized Project Distributor — Fosroc India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad

Product Overview

Renderoc RG is a rapid-gain, high-early-strength cementitious repair mortar from Fosroc for concrete repair applications where the primary constraint is the time available for repair before the structure must be returned to service. In many construction and maintenance scenarios — road and bridge deck repairs, car park slab repairs, industrial floor repairs, runway and taxiway edge repairs — the repair window (the period during which the structure is closed to traffic or production) is strictly limited. Ordinary cementitious repair mortars require 24 to 48 hours before adequate strength for foot traffic and 3 to 7 days for vehicle traffic — far too long for most fast-track applications. Renderoc RG uses rapid-hardening cement technology (calcium sulphoaluminate or similar chemistry) to achieve high early compressive strength — typically 20 to 30 MPa within 2 to 4 hours of placing at 20 degrees C. This early strength development allows the repaired area to be returned to foot traffic within 2 hours, light vehicle traffic within 4 hours, and full heavy traffic within 8 to 12 hours. These timescales make Renderoc RG the standard choice for airport runway repairs (where the runway cannot be closed for more than a few hours), night-shift road and bridge deck repairs, and industrial floor repairs in production facilities where downtime is expensive. Renderoc RG is supplied as a single-component dry powder requiring only the addition of clean water — ease of mixing and site quality control are important in fast-track applications where there is no time for complex multi-component mixing. Space Arc Engineering distributes Renderoc RG for road, bridge, airport, and industrial fast-track concrete repair projects across Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, and Northern India.

Applications

  • Airport runway, taxiway, and apron concrete repair with minimum closure time
  • Road and bridge deck repair with overnight or partial-day closure windows
  • Industrial floor repair in production facilities with limited downtime
  • Car park slab repair with fast return to vehicle traffic
  • Rail platform and transit infrastructure fast-track repairs
  • Rapid repair of concrete damage in critical infrastructure facilities

Key Advantages

  • Very fast early strength — 20–30 MPa within 2–4 hours at 20 deg C
  • Returns to foot traffic in 2 hours, vehicle traffic in 4–8 hours
  • Single-component — just add water for fast site mixing
  • High ultimate strength — maintains performance over full service life
  • Low shrinkage and good bond strength to existing concrete
  • Essential repair product for road, bridge, and airport maintenance in India

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Renderoc RG achieve such rapid early strength compared to ordinary repair mortars?

Renderoc RG uses rapid-hardening cement technology based on calcium sulphoaluminate (CSA) cement or similar rapid-gain cement chemistry, which hydrates much faster than ordinary Portland cement. In CSA-based systems, the primary hydration reaction produces ettringite (a calcium sulphoaluminate hydrate) within minutes of water addition, causing very rapid early stiffening and strength development. Ettringite is a benign expansive product in controlled CSA cement systems and contributes to the low-shrinkage behaviour of rapid-gain mortars. The rapid hydration releases heat quickly, which further accelerates the strength gain rate. The result is a mortar that achieves in 2 to 4 hours what ordinary Portland cement mortar achieves in 24 to 48 hours.

Does Renderoc RG require a bonding primer like other Renderoc repair mortars?

Yes. Even though Renderoc RG is a rapid-gaining mortar, good bond to the existing concrete substrate is still required for the repair to be structurally effective and durable. Nitobond EP (epoxy bonding agent) or Nitobond SBR (polymer slurry) should be applied to the prepared concrete substrate before placing Renderoc RG. The substrate must be mechanically prepared (scabbling, grinding, or shot blasting to remove weak concrete and provide aggregate exposure) and must be at the saturated surface dry condition. In very fast-track repairs, a fast-cure bonding agent or a compatible slurry of the same rapid-gain cement can be used as a primer. The working time after mixing Renderoc RG is short (typically 5 to 10 minutes at 20 deg C), so all preparation and priming must be complete before mixing the mortar.

Does ambient temperature affect the early strength development of Renderoc RG?

Yes, significantly. At higher temperatures (above 25 degrees C), the hydration reaction of Renderoc RG is accelerated — early strength development is faster and the return-to-service time is shorter. This is advantageous in Indian summer conditions. At lower temperatures (below 15 degrees C), the rate of hydration slows and the early strength development is delayed — at 5 degrees C, the 2-hour strength may be significantly lower than at 20 degrees C, and the return-to-traffic time must be extended accordingly. In cold weather repair work, warming the mixing water and the aggregate, and protecting the fresh repair from cold ambient air with insulated blankets, can help maintain adequate reaction temperature for fast strength gain. Do not attempt rapid-gain concrete repair at temperatures below 5 degrees C without specific cold-weather precautions.
