Fast-Setting Hydraulic Cement Plug for Active Water Leaks and Seepage Stoppage

Authorized Project Distributor — Dr. Fixit by Pidilite | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad

Product Overview

Dr. Fixit Speed Watergrip is a specially formulated fast-setting hydraulic cement compound manufactured by Pidilite Industries for the immediate stoppage of active water leaks, seepage, and running water ingress through cracks, holes, and construction joints in concrete structures. Unlike standard cementitious grouts or repair mortars that require a dry or damp substrate and are washed away or diluted by active water flow, Dr. Fixit Speed Watergrip is formulated with aluminate-based hydraulic cement binders that react rapidly with water — including flowing water — to develop initial set within minutes of placement. The rapid setting chemistry allows the product to resist hydrostatic pressure and active water flow during the setting process, making it the only practical remediation material for situations where water cannot be stopped or diverted before repair. Dr. Fixit Speed Watergrip is mixed with a small amount of clean water (or even with the leaking water itself in emergency situations) to form a stiff putty-like consistency that is immediately packed or forced into the leak point by hand. The material sets within 3 to 5 minutes and achieves early compressive strength within 30 minutes, sufficient to withstand moderate hydrostatic pressure and allow continued construction activities without extensive dewatering. Dr. Fixit Speed Watergrip is used in basement construction (plugging tie bolt holes, construction joint leaks, and honeycomb leaks in concrete walls), tunnel and underground structure repair, swimming pool and water tank repair (around pipe penetrations and cracks), and emergency repair of water retaining structures. After Speed Watergrip has plugged the active leak, a full crystalline or cementitious waterproofing treatment (such as Dr. Fixit Krystalline or Dr. Fixit Coat) is applied over the repaired area to provide the permanent waterproofing membrane. Space Arc Engineering supplies Dr. Fixit Speed Watergrip for basement, tunnel, and underground structure repair contractors throughout Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, and Uttar Pradesh.

Applications

  • Basement concrete wall — plugging active seepage through tie bolt holes and honeycomb
  • Construction joint leak stoppage — fast plug before crystalline or membrane waterproofing
  • Tunnel lining crack and joint leak stoppage during repair operations
  • Swimming pool wall crack and pipe penetration leak sealing
  • Water tank concrete wall and floor crack repair — active leak conditions
  • Emergency repair of water retaining structures, culverts, and drainage channels

Key Advantages

  • Sets in 3 to 5 minutes — stops active water flow rapidly under hydrostatic pressure
  • Hydraulic cement chemistry — reacts with water including flowing water to set hard
  • No complex mixing equipment needed — hand-mixed to stiff putty and pressed into leak
  • High early strength — resists moderate hydrostatic pressure within 30 minutes of set
  • Bridges to full waterproofing treatment — used as first stage before crystalline or membrane
  • Versatile — effective on concrete, masonry, brick, and natural stone structures

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the correct procedure for using Dr. Fixit Speed Watergrip to stop an active water leak through a tie bolt hole in a basement concrete wall, and what treatment should follow after plugging?

Active water leaks through tie bolt holes are one of the most common basement waterproofing problems in reinforced concrete construction. Tie bolt holes (the holes left in the concrete wall after removing the form tie rods used during concrete casting) are typically 12 to 20 mm in diameter and pass completely through the concrete wall, creating a direct water pathway from the external ground-water or back-fill moisture to the interior. The procedure for plugging tie bolt holes with Dr. Fixit Speed Watergrip is as follows. Step 1 — Prepare the hole. Using a drill and chisel, enlarge and clean the tie bolt hole to a minimum 25 mm diameter and 30 mm depth to provide sufficient volume for the Speed Watergrip plug and to remove any loose or contaminated concrete around the hole perimeter. Step 2 — Mix Speed Watergrip. Working quickly, place approximately 100 to 150 grams of Speed Watergrip powder on a clean non-absorbent surface. Add clean water (or even the leaking water collected in a container) at approximately 25 percent water-to-powder ratio by weight. Mix rapidly with a gloved hand or small trowel for 30 seconds to a stiff putty consistency. The entire mixing process must be completed within 90 seconds of adding water. Step 3 — Plug the hole. Immediately form the mixed putty into a cone or plug shape in the palm of the hand and press it firmly and rapidly into the hole with sustained hand pressure. Hold the plug in position with firm finger pressure for 3 to 5 minutes until initial set is achieved and water flow stops. Once set, the plug will feel hard and water flow will be blocked. Step 4 — Post-plug waterproofing. After Speed Watergrip has set (minimum 30 minutes), apply Dr. Fixit Krystalline slurry over the plugged area and extending 150 mm around the plug to provide crystalline penetrating waterproofing. Over the entire wall surface, apply a full 2-coat Dr. Fixit Krystalline or Dr. Fixit Coat waterproofing system to prevent recurrence of seepage at other locations. Important safety note: Dr. Fixit Speed Watergrip generates heat during setting (exothermic reaction). Remove the mix from skin contact within 2 minutes of mixing. Always wear nitrile gloves during mixing and application.
