MC-Bauchemie MC-DUR 900
A two-component, solvent-free epoxy resin coating from MC-Bauchemie’s MC-DUR range, built to give industrial concrete floors a hard, chemical-resistant, dust-free finish.
What is it?
A two-component, solvent-free pigmented epoxy resin floor coating from MC-Bauchemie’s MC-DUR family, cured by mixing a resin base with a hardener.
Where is it used?
Industrial concrete floors that see wheeled traffic, chemical splash and heavy foot movement — warehouses, production halls, workshops, storerooms and process areas.
Why use it?
It seals porous concrete into a hard, impervious, easy-to-clean surface with good resistance to dilute acids, alkalis and salts, plus high abrasion and scratch resistance.
How is it applied?
Applied by roller or squeegee over a primed, sound, dry concrete substrate; the base and hardener are mixed in the supplied ratio and laid in one or more coats, optionally filled and broadcast with aggregate for higher build.
About MC-Bauchemie MC-DUR 900
MC-DUR 900 belongs to MC-Bauchemie’s well-established MC-DUR line of two-component epoxy resin floor coatings — the same family that includes the MC-DUR 1200 and 1800 systems specified across industrial projects worldwide. Like its stablemates, it is a solvent-free, pigmented epoxy that arrives as a pre-weighed resin base and a matched hardener. Once the two parts are combined they react chemically and cure to a continuous, pore-free film that bonds tightly to prepared concrete. The result is a floor that no longer dusts, no longer soaks up oil and spillage, and stands up to the day-to-day punishment of forklifts, pallet trucks and constant foot traffic.
For engineers and facility owners in Delhi NCR and across India, the appeal is practical. Bare or power-floated concrete looks robust but is porous, dusts under traffic and stains the moment a chemical or lubricant is dropped on it. An MC-DUR epoxy coating converts that raw slab into a sealed, hygienic, wipe-clean working surface in the colour you specify. Space Arc Engineering supplies and applies MC-DUR systems as an authorised distributor and applicator, so the same team that sources the genuine material also prepares the substrate and lays the coating — which is exactly where an epoxy floor succeeds or fails.
The technical insight
An epoxy floor coating works because it is a reactive, not an evaporative, system. Where an ordinary paint dries by losing solvent, MC-DUR 900’s two components cross-link: the amine hardener reacts with the epoxy resin to form a dense, three-dimensional polymer network. That network is what gives the cured film its hardness, its resistance to abrasion and scratching, and its tightly closed surface that dilute acids, alkalis, salt solutions, oils and cleaning agents cannot easily penetrate. Because the product is solvent-free, almost the entire wet film stays on the floor as cured coating, so there is minimal shrinkage and low odour during application — an important consideration for indoor and occupied-building work. The trade-off built into every two-part epoxy is the same: once base and hardener meet, the clock starts. The mix has a limited working (pot) life, cure speed tracks with temperature, and bond depends entirely on a substrate that is sound, clean, dry and correctly primed. Get the concrete right and the epoxy does the rest.
Where it is used
- Coating concrete floors in warehouses and distribution centres subject to forklift and pallet-truck traffic
- Sealing production and assembly hall floors that need a dust-free, easy-to-clean surface
- Protecting workshop and maintenance-bay floors against oil, grease and lubricant staining
- Finishing storerooms and packing areas where hygiene and cleanability matter
- Providing a chemical-splash-resistant floor in light process and manufacturing zones
- Upgrading tired, dusting concrete slabs to a hard-wearing coloured finish
- Creating demarcated traffic lanes and zones using different coating colours
- Coating ancillary areas such as service corridors and equipment plinths
Key advantages
- Two-component, solvent-free formulation — low odour and minimal shrinkage on cure
- Cures to a hard, dense, pore-free film that resists abrasion and scratching
- Good resistance to dilute acids, alkalis and salt solutions plus oils and lubricants
- Seals porous concrete so the floor stops dusting and no longer absorbs spillage
- Impervious, jointless surface is hygienic and easy to sweep, wash and disinfect
- Available pigmented in colour for zoning, brightness and a professional finish
- Can be filled and broadcast with oven-dried aggregate for higher build or slip resistance
- Backed by MC-Bauchemie’s globally proven MC-DUR track record and by Space Arc’s in-house application
Limitations & considerations
- Performance depends entirely on substrate preparation — the concrete must be sound, clean, dry and correctly primed, or the coating will disbond
- As a two-part reactive system it has a limited pot life; mixed material must be applied within the working time and cannot be reclaimed once it starts to gel
- Cure speed and final finish are temperature- and humidity-sensitive, so cold, damp or rushed site conditions compromise results
- Not intended as a structural repair mortar or a levelling screed — deep defects, spalls and profile correction must be made good with the correct repair product first
- Standard epoxy coatings can chalk and lose gloss under prolonged direct UV, so exterior or sunlit use needs a UV-stable topcoat or a different specification
- Exact coverage, film thickness, chemical-resistance limits and cure times must be taken from the current project-specific MC-DUR 900 technical data sheet, not assumed
Selection & best practice
Start with the concrete, not the coating. The slab must be structurally sound, fully cured, and have surface moisture within the limits stated on the technical data sheet — trapped moisture is the single most common cause of epoxy failure. Mechanically prepare the surface by grinding or shot-blasting to remove laitance, curing compounds and contamination and to open the pore structure for grip; never rely on acid etching alone. Make good all cracks, spalls and low spots with the appropriate repair and levelling products before coating. Prime the prepared substrate with the matched MC-Bauchemie primer so the coating bonds and pinholing is avoided. Mix the base and hardener thoroughly in the full supplied ratio using a slow-speed paddle — never split a unit by eye — and only mix what the team can lay within the pot life. Apply within the recommended temperature window, respect overcoat and full-cure times before returning foot and wheeled traffic, and always confirm the product-specific figures against the current TDS for the batch on site.

How we position MC-Bauchemie MC-DUR 900
Within the MC-Bauchemie range, MC-DUR 900 sits alongside heavier-duty and specialist siblings: MC-DUR 1200 and 1800 for coloured coatings under higher mechanical and chemical load, the self-levelling MC-DUR grades where a thicker, monolithic build is needed, and MC-DUR primers that must be used underneath any of them. Where a job needs deep repair or levelling before coating, pair it with the appropriate MC-Bauchemie repair mortar rather than expecting the coating to fill defects. Across our other brands, comparable industrial floor coatings include Fosroc’s Nitoflor epoxy systems and Sika’s Sikafloor range; if a specifier already works to a Fosroc schedule, we can match the requirement from that family instead. Space Arc supplies and applies all of these, so the recommendation is driven by the floor’s traffic, chemistry and budget — not by what is on the shelf.
Fosroc Nitoflor FC150 — Choose the Fosroc option when the project is already written to a Fosroc schedule or the site team prefers a familiar high-build, solvent-free epoxy floor coating with an established Indian supply chain.
