MC-Bauchemie MC-Crete 200
A chloride-free normal water-reducing (Type A) admixture from MC-Bauchemie that trims mixing water by 5 to 12 percent, lifting strength and durability across everyday C20 to C35 concrete.
What is it?
MC-Crete 200 is a liquid Type A water-reducing plasticiser from MC-Bauchemie, built on lignosulphonate/hydroxylated-carboxylic-acid chemistry and conforming to IS 9103. It is a normal water reducer, not a superplasticiser.
Where is it used?
General-purpose C20 to C35 concrete: columns, beams and slabs in residential and commercial work, road and pavement concrete, and precast items such as kerbs, drainage channels and box culverts, at both RMC plants and site batching.
Why use it?
It lets you cut mixing water by 5 to 12 percent at the same workability, lowering the water-cement ratio to gain roughly 4 to 6 MPa of 28-day strength without extra cement, or it can boost flow at constant water content.
How is it applied?
Dosed at 0.10 to 0.40 percent by weight of cement, pre-diluted in the batch water and mixed for a full two minutes so the admixture disperses evenly through the mix.
About MC-Bauchemie MC-Crete 200
MC-Crete 200 sits in the workhorse category of concrete chemistry: the everyday plasticiser that most C20 to C35 pours actually need. It is a dark brown liquid based on lignosulphonate and hydroxylated carboxylic acid, classified under IS 9103 as a Type A normal water-reducing admixture. That classification matters on site, because it tells the engineer exactly what to expect: measurable water reduction and improved workability, without the aggressive slump and high dosages you associate with a polycarboxylate superplasticiser. For the bulk of Indian construction, which lives in the M20 to M35 band, that ordinary performance is precisely the point.
Because it carries zero chloride, MC-Crete 200 is safe for reinforced and prestressed concrete, which keeps it in play from housing slabs to precast drainage units. Space Arc Engineering supplies and supports it as part of MC-Bauchemie’s admixture range across Delhi NCR and pan-India, and we position it honestly: this is the cost-effective admixture for mainstream grades, not the answer for high-flow, high-strength or self-compacting concrete. Where the specification climbs past C40, or where you need a genuine high-range water reducer, MC-Bauchemie’s Centrament Flow line is the correct step up. Used within its band, MC-Crete 200 gives contractors a dependable lever on strength, durability and finish for the price of a modest admixture dose.
The technical insight
The mechanism is dispersion. Cement grains carry surface charges that make them flocculate the moment they meet water, trapping a portion of the mixing water inside loose clusters where it does nothing for workability. The lignosulphonate molecules in MC-Crete 200 adsorb onto those grains and impart a like charge, so the particles repel rather than clump. That frees the trapped water and deflocculates the paste, which is why the same slump can be reached with 5 to 12 percent less water. The engineering payoff comes from taking that freed water out of the mix instead of keeping it: a lower water-cement ratio densifies the hardened paste, cuts capillary porosity and typically adds around 4 to 6 MPa to 28-day strength at the same cement content, while improving durability and reducing permeability. The same dispersion also mildly delays early hydration, which is why a slight retardation of initial set, on the order of one to two hours at normal dosage, is expected and generally useful in warm conditions.
Where it is used
- Structural concrete for columns, beams and slabs in residential and commercial buildings
- Ready-mixed concrete production for mainstream C20 to C35 grades
- Road, pavement and hardstanding concrete
- Precast drainage channels, kerb units and box culverts
- Site-batched general-purpose concrete where a modest, reliable water reduction is wanted
- Concrete requiring improved cohesion and finish without changing the mix design
- Warm-weather pours where a slight, controlled set retardation is beneficial
- Reinforced and prestressed elements, thanks to its zero-chloride formulation
Key advantages
- Reduces mixing water by 5 to 12 percent at equal workability
- Raises 28-day strength by roughly 4 to 6 MPa at the same cement content through a lower water-cement ratio
- Dual-mode: use it to reduce water for strength, or to increase flow at constant water
- Zero chloride content, so it is safe for reinforced and prestressed concrete
- Improves durability and reduces permeability of the hardened concrete
- Cost-effective admixture pitched squarely at the high-volume C20 to C35 market
- Slight, predictable set retardation that helps in warm placing conditions
- Supplied as a ready-to-use liquid that pre-dilutes easily in batch water
Limitations & considerations
- A normal Type A water reducer, not a superplasticiser; it will not deliver high-slump or self-compacting concrete
- Practical ceiling around C35 or so; for C40 and above, step up to MC-Bauchemie’s Centrament Flow range
- Overdosing beyond the recommended band can cause excessive retardation, so trial mixes and calibrated dosing are essential
- Water reduction depends on cement type, mix design and aggregate, so the 5 to 12 percent figure should be confirmed by trial
- Being water-based, it must be protected from freezing and prolonged high temperatures in storage
- Not a substitute for good mix design, curing or waterproofing where durability targets are demanding
Selection & best practice
Fix the dosage by trial mix before production, starting inside the 0.10 to 0.40 percent by weight of cement range and settling on the point that gives your target workability or water reduction. Add MC-Crete 200 to the batch water rather than dosing it dry onto aggregates, using calibrated measuring cylinders in the 25 to 50 ml band for accurate site batching. After all materials are in the mixer, run a full two-minute mix so the admixture disperses uniformly; short mixing is the most common cause of variable slump. Keep the water reduction as an actual reduction in the mix water if strength and durability are the goal, rather than letting the extra workability tempt more water back in. In hot weather where more set control is wanted, MC-Crete 200 can be combined with a retarder such as Centrament Retard to move it toward Type D behaviour. Store containers sealed, out of direct sun and above freezing.

Industry use cases
Ready-mixed concrete plants
A default plasticiser for the M20 to M35 grades that make up most RMC despatch, giving consistent water reduction and workability at a low per-cubic-metre cost.
Building contractors
Column, beam and slab pours where a cleaner finish and a few extra MPa of strength are wanted without redesigning the mix or adding cement.
Precast yards
Kerbs, drainage channels and box culverts benefit from the tighter, less permeable paste a lower water-cement ratio delivers, aiding demoulding quality and durability.
Roads and pavements
General-purpose pavement concrete where controlled workability and durability matter, with the slight retardation helping placement in warm conditions.
Infrastructure and civil works
Bulk structural concrete across housing, commercial and civil projects that sit comfortably inside the C20 to C35 band where a normal water reducer is the right tool.

How we position MC-Bauchemie MC-Crete 200
MC-Crete 200 is the mainstream, cost-effective plasticiser in MC-Bauchemie’s admixture range, sized for the C20 to C35 grades that dominate Indian construction. When a project moves into higher-strength, high-flow or self-compacting territory at C40 and above, step up within the same brand family to the Centrament Flow 100/200 high-range water reducers. For hot-weather placing where more set control is needed, pair it with Centrament Retard to shift toward Type D retarding behaviour. Across brands, Space Arc can match it against equivalent Type A plasticisers such as Fosroc Conplast P211 where a specifier’s approved-vendor list calls for it, and can pair the concrete with complementary MC-Bauchemie or Fosroc curing compounds and repair mortars on the same project.
Fosroc Conplast P211 — A specifier whose approved-vendor list is standardised on Fosroc, or who wants a like-for-like Type A plasticiser from the same supplier as their curing and repair products, would choose Conplast P211.
