Dr. Fixit Pidifin 2K
Two-Component Flexible Cementitious Waterproofing Coating for Water Tanks, Basements and Wet Areas
Authorized Project Distributor — Dr. Fixit by Pidilite | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad
Product Overview
Dr. Fixit Pidifin 2K is a two-component, flexible cementitious waterproofing coating manufactured by Pidilite Industries, consisting of a specially formulated cementitious powder component and a liquid polymer emulsion component that are mixed together on site to produce a brushable, rollable waterproofing slurry. When applied to concrete, masonry, brick, or render surfaces, the mixed Pidifin 2K slurry penetrates into surface pores, bonds to the substrate, and cures to a continuous, flexible, waterproof coating that resists hydrostatic water pressure from both positive and negative sides. The defining performance characteristic of Pidifin 2K is its flexibility — unlike rigid crystalline or cementitious coatings that crack when the substrate moves, the polymer-modified Pidifin 2K film remains flexible after curing and can accommodate minor substrate cracking and movement without the coating cracking through and creating water paths. This is particularly important in Indian construction where water tanks, swimming pools, and basements are subject to significant thermal cycling, seasonal moisture movement, and minor settlement that cause hairline cracking in the concrete structure. Pidifin 2K applied in two to three brush coats at a total dry film thickness of approximately 2 mm forms a complete waterproof envelope that seals the structure against water infiltration from outside (basement walls, retaining walls) and prevents water from leaking through the structure from inside (water tanks, swimming pools, ponds). The product is non-toxic after curing and is suitable for contact with potable water in drinking water tanks and reservoirs. Space Arc Engineering supplies Dr. Fixit Pidifin 2K for water tank waterproofing, swimming pool construction, basement tanking, bathroom waterproofing, and terrace waterproofing projects throughout Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Uttar Pradesh.
Applications
- Overhead and underground water tank waterproofing — interior coating for potable water storage
- Swimming pool and ornamental pond shell waterproofing — before tiling or plaster finish
- Basement and substructure wall and floor waterproofing — positive and negative pressure
- Bathroom and wet area floor and wall waterproofing — tile-on-mortar substrate
- Terrace and balcony slab waterproofing before tile-on-mortar or screed finish
- Retaining wall and water feature waterproofing — external exposure and water contact
Key Advantages
- Two-component factory-set formulation — consistent polymer content and waterproofing performance every batch
- Flexible crack-tolerant coating — accommodates minor substrate movement without cracking
- Suitable for positive and negative water pressure — water tanks (inside) and basements (outside)
- Potable water safe after curing — approved for drinking water tank interior coating
- Bonds to concrete, masonry, and brick without primer in most applications
- Tiling compatible — tiles can be applied directly over cured Pidifin 2K using approved tile adhesive

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Pidifin 2K mixing ratio and how should the two components be combined on site?
Dr. Fixit Pidifin 2K is supplied as a pre-packaged set containing the powder component and the liquid component in the correct proportions for mixing. The standard Pidifin 2K pack is supplied in sets where the entire liquid component is added to the entire powder component — no measuring or proportioning on site. The mixing procedure is: empty the entire contents of the liquid component into a clean mixing bucket first. Add the entire powder component to the liquid gradually, while stirring continuously with a slow-speed electric drill fitted with a paddle mixer. Mix for a minimum of 3 minutes until the slurry is uniform, lump-free, and of a smooth brushable consistency. Do not add extra water to the mixed slurry — Pidifin 2K is formulated at the correct water-to-cement ratio for optimum waterproofing performance, and adding water increases the w/c ratio, reduces strength and waterproofing efficiency, and can cause segregation of the polymer from the cement paste. If the mixed slurry appears too thick to brush easily, it can be thinned with a very small amount of water (maximum 50 ml per 20 kg pack) but this should be avoided if possible. Mixed Pidifin 2K has a pot life of approximately 1 to 1.5 hours at 25 degrees C — mix only as much as can be applied within this period. On hot days in Delhi NCR (35 to 40 degrees C), the pot life is reduced to approximately 45 to 60 minutes — mix smaller batches and keep the bucket in shade. Do not use a batch that has begun to stiffen — discard and mix a fresh batch rather than adding water to re-soften a stiffened mix.
Can tiles be applied directly over Dr. Fixit Pidifin 2K in a bathroom or swimming pool and what tile adhesive should be used?
Yes, tiles can be applied directly over cured Dr. Fixit Pidifin 2K in bathroom and swimming pool applications, making Pidifin 2K an ideal waterproofing substrate preparation layer before ceramic, porcelain, or natural stone tiling. The compatibility of Pidifin 2K with tile adhesives is one of its key practical advantages in the tile-on-mortar construction method dominant in Indian building construction. The standard sequence for bathroom waterproofing and tiling using Pidifin 2K is: Apply Pidifin 2K in 2 to 3 coats on the concrete or masonry substrate (floor and walls) to achieve a minimum 2 mm total DFT. Allow to cure for a minimum of 24 to 48 hours at 25 degrees C before tiling. Do not tile while the Pidifin 2K coating is still green or tacky — the coating must be hard and firm to the touch before tile adhesive is applied over it. Apply a polymer-modified tile adhesive (such as Dr. Fixit Tilefresh or an equivalent C2 class tile adhesive) using a notched trowel at the correct coverage rate for the tile size and back-butter large format tiles. Lay tiles as normal. For swimming pool applications, use a polymer-modified, water-resistant tile adhesive and ensure the Pidifin 2K has cured for a full 7 days before tile adhesive application and pool filling. Use a swimming-pool-grade, non-sanded grout or epoxy grout in tile joints. The Pidifin 2K membrane must not be damaged or punctured during tiling — do not chip or drill through the membrane except for essential pipe penetrations, which must be carefully sealed with a flexible sealant around the pipe before tiling.
