Auramix 200
Mid-Range PCE Superplasticiser for Ready Mix and Precast Concrete
Authorized Project Distributor — Fosroc India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad
Product Overview
Auramix 200 is a second-generation polycarboxylate ether (PCE) superplasticiser from Fosroc designed for ready mix concrete, precast concrete, and general construction applications where high workability and moderate water reduction are required. The Auramix range of PCE admixtures is the evolution beyond conventional naphthalene-based superplasticisers such as Conplast SP430 — PCE admixtures work by a comb-polymer steric hindrance mechanism that provides superior workability retention compared to sulphonate-based admixtures, meaning that the initial slump is maintained for longer after mixing, which is particularly valuable for ready mix concrete that travels from the batching plant to the construction site. Auramix 200 is formulated as the mid-range product in the Auramix family — providing excellent performance for grade M25 to M50 concrete — positioned between the entry-level Auramix 300 for general use and the high-performance Auramix 350 and 400 for very high-strength and demanding applications. It reduces the water demand of concrete by up to 20% to 25% at normal workability, or alternatively maintains a given water-cement ratio at a much higher slump for easier placing and compaction. Auramix 200 is compatible with all Portland cements, blended cements (PPC, PSC), and supplementary cementitious materials (silica fume, fly ash, GGBS). Space Arc Engineering distributes Auramix 200 for ready mix plants and precast factories across Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, and North India.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Auramix 200 and Conplast SP430?
Conplast SP430 is a naphthalene sulphonate-based superplasticiser (second-generation) while Auramix 200 is a polycarboxylate ether (PCE) based superplasticiser (third-generation). The key practical differences are that Auramix 200 provides better workability retention (slump life), is effective at lower dosages, and typically delivers higher water reduction. Conplast SP430 is a proven workhorse for standard M25 to M35 ready mix concrete. Auramix 200 is preferred for higher-grade concrete, longer delivery distances, or applications where workability retention is critical. Space Arc Engineering can assist in selecting the right admixture for your mix design.
Can Auramix 200 be used with fly ash or GGBS in the concrete mix?
Yes. Auramix 200 is fully compatible with fly ash, GGBS, and silica fume. Supplementary cementitious materials often improve the performance of PCE admixtures by modifying the rheology and reducing the early cement hydration rate. When using fly ash or GGBS, the dosage of Auramix 200 may need to be adjusted by trial mix, as these materials can affect the admixture demand differently from plain OPC or PPC cement. Space Arc Engineering can provide guidance on mix design optimisation with Auramix 200 and supplementary cementitious materials.
How does the dosage of Auramix 200 affect concrete setting time?
At normal dosages (0.3 to 0.8 litres per 100 kg cement), Auramix 200 has a minimal effect on initial and final setting times. At higher dosages (above 1.0 litres per 100 kg cement), some retardation of setting can be observed, particularly with high-alkali cements. The relationship between dosage and setting time should be established by trial mix with the specific cement to be used. Over-dosing PCE superplasticisers can cause significant retardation and, in extreme cases, a phenomenon called incompatibility with high-C3A cements.
