Conplast SP600
Premium High-Range Naphthalene Sulphonate Superplasticiser for High-Strength Concrete
Authorized Project Distributor — Fosroc India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad
Product Overview
Conplast SP600 is a premium high-range water-reducing superplasticiser based on sulphonated naphthalene formaldehyde condensate, representing the high-performance end of the Fosroc Conplast naphthalene superplasticiser range. It is formulated to achieve greater water reduction and higher concrete strength potential than the standard Conplast SP550, making it the product of choice for very high-strength concrete grades M60 to M80 in high-rise building columns, bridge pylons, long-span prestressed girders, and other applications where the highest concrete strength and lowest water-cement ratio are required. At the saturation dosage, Conplast SP600 can achieve water reductions of 28 to 35% versus the control mix, enabling water-cement ratios in the range of 0.25 to 0.32 in conjunction with high cement content (450 to 550 kg per cubic metre) and supplementary cementitious materials such as silica fume. At very low water-cement ratios, the concrete must also have very low water absorption and very low permeability — both properties that develop from the dense microstructure produced by the combination of low water-cement ratio and the gap-filling effect of silica fume. Conplast SP600 is compatible with all Portland cements, PPC, PSC, and all supplementary cementitious materials. It is especially effective in combination with silica fume for the production of ultra-high-strength concrete (above M70) where the combination of chemical water reduction, pozzolanic reaction (silica fume reacts with calcium hydroxide to form additional C-S-H), and physical filler effect produces concrete with extremely dense and low-porosity microstructure. Space Arc Engineering distributes Conplast SP600 for premium high-rise, bridge, and infrastructure projects across Delhi NCR and Northern India.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the saturation dosage for Conplast SP600 and why should it not be exceeded?
The saturation dosage is the dosage above which adding more superplasticiser provides no additional workability benefit — the cement surface is fully saturated with adsorbed admixture molecules, and additional molecules remain in solution without contributing to dispersion. Exceeding the saturation dosage wastes admixture, causes excessive retardation, and in extreme cases can cause segregation and bleeding. The saturation dosage varies with the cement type, cement content, and temperature, and must be established by trial mix for each specific concrete. For naphthalene superplasticisers like SP600, the saturation point is typically in the range of 1.5 to 2.5 litres per 100 kg cement, but this varies significantly with cement chemistry.
Can Conplast SP600 be combined with a PCE admixture like Auramix for ultra-high-strength concrete?
Combining naphthalene and PCE superplasticisers in the same concrete mix is generally not recommended without specific compatibility testing, as the two admixture types compete for adsorption sites on the cement surface and can interact in unpredictable ways affecting workability, setting time, and strength. For ultra-high-strength concrete (M70 and above), a single premium PCE superplasticiser (such as Auramix 400 or Auramix 450) in combination with silica fume and a low water-cement ratio is typically the preferred approach. Consult the Fosroc technical team and Space Arc Engineering for mix design advice on ultra-high-strength concrete projects.
Is silica fume required when using Conplast SP600 for M60 to M80 concrete?
Silica fume is not strictly required for M60 concrete — M60 grade can often be achieved with a well-designed mix using high cement content, Conplast SP600 for water reduction, and careful aggregate grading without silica fume. However, for M70 and above, silica fume is generally necessary to achieve the dense, very low-permeability microstructure needed for such high strength — the pozzolanic reaction of silica fume with calcium hydroxide and the physical filler effect of ultra-fine silica fume particles fill the finest pores in the concrete matrix. For M80 and higher grades, both silica fume and the use of a PCE superplasticiser may be needed. Space Arc Engineering can provide guidance on high-strength concrete mix design combining Fosroc admixtures and supplementary cementitious materials.
