Fosroc Renderoc Patch
A fast-setting, single-component cementitious patch and reprofiling mortar for arris repairs and precast units — featheredge to 30mm, no separate primer, BS EN 1504-3 Class R3.
What is it?
A single-component, fast-setting cementitious repair mortar supplied as a pre-blended dry powder that needs only the addition of clean water. It is engineered for damaged-arris repair and general reprofiling, and complies with BS EN 1504-3 Class R3.
Where is it used?
Patch repairs and edge (arris) reinstatement on precast units, beams, columns, slabs, lintels, copings and parapets — across precast yards, infrastructure, industrial and building-repair sites in Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
Why use it?
It sets and gains strength fast, can be applied vertically from featheredge up to 30mm in one pass without slump, needs no independent primer (its own slurry coat suffices), and is easy to hand- or trowel-apply with minimal site equipment.
How is it applied?
Saturate the prepared substrate to SSD, brush in a slurry bond coat of the mixed material, then trowel-apply the mortar within the 10–15 minute working window, finishing and curing before the next layer or final reprofiling.
About Fosroc Renderoc Patch
Fosroc Renderoc Patch is a fast-setting, single-component cementitious repair mortar from the long-established Renderoc family of concrete repair products. It arrives on site as a factory-controlled blend of selected cements, graded aggregates and performance additives in a 25 kg bag, requiring only the addition of drinking-quality water to produce a consistent, low-slump mortar. Because every component is pre-proportioned, the variability that comes with site-batched sand-cement render is largely removed — an important advantage on Indian sites where aggregate grading and water dosing can otherwise swing widely.
The product is purpose-designed for two jobs that crews face constantly: reinstating damaged edges (arris) and general reprofiling of concrete, with the precast industry a particular focus. Heavy precast elements — beams, planks, columns, copings and architectural units — are routinely chipped during demoulding, stacking, transport and erection. Renderoc Patch lets a fitter rebuild a clean arris or fill a shallow defect quickly, because it develops high early strength and sets in minutes rather than hours. That speed keeps precast yards turning stock and lets repair teams handle, lift or despatch units the same shift.
A defining feature is its build and slump behaviour. It can be applied vertically from a featheredge up to 30 mm thick in a single application without slumping or sagging, and overhead to a maximum of 20 mm. This single-pass capability removes the need for multiple thin lifts on typical patch depths. It also needs no separate bonding primer — a brushed slurry coat of the same mortar acts as the bond bridge — which cuts both the product count and the labour steps on a repair.
For Space Arc Engineering’s customers across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, Renderoc Patch sits in the “fast turnaround, small-to-medium patch” slot of the concrete-repair toolbox. It is not intended for large-volume structural reinstatement or thick high-build sections; for those, the Renderoc HB high-build range or flowable micro-concretes are the correct choice. Used within its design envelope, it is a dependable, low-fuss mortar that gets edges and patches back to shape fast and to a recognised European standard.
The technical insight
Renderoc Patch is classified to BS EN 1504-3 as a Class R3 repair mortar, which sets it apart from R4 structural mortars on both strength and intended use. R3 mortars require a 28-day compressive strength of at least 25 MPa; Renderoc Patch reaches roughly 35 MPa at 28 days, with about 10 MPa at 4 hours and 20 MPa at 24 hours at 20°C, reflecting its rapid-hardening cement chemistry. The genuinely useful number on a precast line is not the 28-day figure but the 4-hour value — early strength is what governs how soon a repaired unit can be moved. Its low-slump rheology comes from the aggregate grading and rheology modifiers, which let it stand at 30 mm vertical build without a formwork. The headline trade-off to plan for is working time: at 20°C the mortar must be placed within roughly 10–15 minutes, and that window shortens sharply in Indian summer heat. The practical consequence is small batches, cool mixing water, and shaded work — mix only what one person can trowel before the mortar stiffens.
Where it is used
- Reinstating damaged or chipped edges (arris) on precast concrete units
- General reprofiling and patching of precast beams, columns, planks and architectural elements
- Quick repair of spalled or honeycombed patches on cast in-situ concrete
- Restoring profile to copings, parapets, sills, lintels and string courses
- Filling shallow blowholes, tie-bolt holes and minor surface defects on precast and in-situ work
- Fast same-shift cosmetic and edge repairs in precast yards to keep stock moving
- Small-to-medium patch repairs on RCC structures ahead of protective coating or fairing
Key advantages
- Fast setting with high early strength — repaired units can be handled, lifted or despatched the same shift
- Single-component: only clean water is added, removing site batching errors and giving consistent results
- No separate primer needed — a slurry coat of the same mortar serves as the bond bridge
- Applies vertically from featheredge up to 30 mm in one pass without slump or sag
- Low-slump rheology holds shape on vertical faces and rebuilt arrises without formwork
- Easy hand- or trowel-application with minimal plant — suited to small crews and remote sites
- Complies with BS EN 1504-3 Class R3, a recognised European concrete-repair standard
- Factory pre-blended powder gives predictable strength and reduces wastage versus site render
Limitations & considerations
- Short working time of about 10–15 minutes at 20°C, shortening further in hot Indian conditions — mix small batches
- Class R3, not R4 — not intended for heavy structural load-bearing reinstatement
- Build limited to 30 mm vertical and 20 mm overhead per application; deeper or larger repairs need a high-build product like Renderoc HB
- Not designed for large-volume or full-depth repairs — use flowable micro-concrete in those cases
- Cementitious and rigid — not a substitute for flexible mortars on moving cracks or movement joints
- Application restricted to roughly 3°C and rising up to about 30°C; needs protection and proper curing in extreme heat or cold
- Requires sound, mechanically prepared, saturated-surface-dry substrate — performance drops on dusty, weak or dry surfaces
Selection & best practice
Mechanically prepare the repair area back to sound concrete with square, slightly undercut edges (avoid featheredging at the perimeter where strength matters), remove all dust and laitance, and expose and clean any corroded reinforcement, priming steel where required. Pre-soak the substrate so it is saturated-surface-dry (damp but with no standing water) before placing — critical on absorbent Indian concrete and in summer to stop the mortar flash-drying. Use cool, drinking-quality mixing water and a forced-action or drill paddle mixer; mix only the quantity one operative can place within 10–15 minutes, brushing a slurry bond coat of the same mortar onto the damp surface immediately before troweling the body in wet-on-wet. Build to a maximum of 30 mm vertical or 20 mm overhead per pass, compact well against edges, finish promptly, and cure with a curing membrane or damp protection — especially under direct sun or drying wind. Do not retemper stiffened material with extra water; discard it and mix fresh.

How we position Fosroc Renderoc Patch
Within the Fosroc Renderoc concrete-repair range, Renderoc Patch occupies the fast-set, low-build, patch-and-arris niche. Step up to the Renderoc HB high-build hand-placed mortars when repair depths exceed its 30 mm limit or structural Class R4 performance is required; choose a flowable repair micro-concrete (formwork-and-pour) for large-volume or full-section reinstatement; and pair with Nitoprime Zincrich / Nitozinc primers for reinforcement protection on corrosion-driven repairs. Against the wider Indian market, it competes with Sika MonoTop and Sika fast-set repair mortars, MYK Schomburg (MBS) repair mortars, Dr. Fixit / Pidilite concrete repair mortars, and STP Saveguard repair systems. Honestly, several of these alternatives offer comparable R3/R4 cementitious patch mortars; Renderoc Patch’s edge is its very fast set, single-component simplicity and no-primer workflow, backed by Fosroc’s established specification track record. Where flexibility over moving cracks or full-depth structural strength is the priority, a different product class (flexible mortars or R4 micro-concrete) is the right answer regardless of brand.
