Fosroc Structuro 235
A high-performance superplasticiser engineered for concrete that must reach high early and ultimate compressive strengths, faster mould turnover and superior durability.
What is it?
Fosroc Structuro 235 is a high-performance, chloride-free liquid superplasticising admixture from Fosroc’s Structuro range, dosed into concrete at the batching plant to deliver high early and ultimate compressive strengths without adding water.
Where is it used?
Used in precast yards, ready-mix plants and on-site concrete across India — for self-compacting concrete, high early-strength concrete, high-performance concrete and precast elements where fast demoulding and durability matter.
Why use it?
It lets producers cut water content while keeping concrete flowing, so they gain early strength for quicker mould turnover, lower permeability, better carbonation resistance and greater long-term durability — all without chlorides that would corrode reinforcement.
How is it applied?
Added as a liquid to the concrete mix at the plant along with the gauging water (never to dry aggregates), at a dosage established by trial mix; it is not painted or applied to hardened concrete.
About Fosroc Structuro 235
Fosroc Structuro 235 belongs to Fosroc’s Structuro family of advanced superplasticising admixtures, a line built largely on polycarboxylic-ether (PCE) dispersion chemistry rather than the older naphthalene or melamine sulphonate technologies. Per Fosroc’s official product literature, Structuro 235 is “a high performance superplasticiser intended for applications where increased early and ultimate compressive strengths are required.” In plain terms, it is a liquid you meter into fresh concrete at the batching plant so the mix flows and compacts far better at a much lower water-to-cement ratio. Because strength in concrete is governed largely by that water-cement ratio, removing water while keeping the mix workable is what unlocks both rapid early strength and higher ultimate strength.\n\nFor Indian producers — particularly the precast and ready-mix sectors across Delhi NCR and the wider country — this matters commercially. Faster early strength means moulds and casting beds can be stripped and reused sooner, lifting daily output without buying more formwork. The same low-water, well-dispersed mix produces denser concrete with lower permeability, which Fosroc links to better resistance to carbonation and aggressive atmospheric conditions and, ultimately, increased durability. Crucially, Fosroc states Structuro 235 has no chloride content, making it suitable for steel-reinforced and prestressed concrete where chloride-induced corrosion is a primary durability risk. Space Arc Engineering supplies Structuro 235 as an authorised Fosroc distributor, with technical support to dial in dosage for local cements, fly ash, GGBS and aggregates.”}
The technical insight
The behaviour of Structuro 235 comes down to how the admixture disperses cement grains. Without a superplasticiser, cement particles flocculate and trap mixing water inside clumps, so a high water dose is needed just to make concrete flow. A high-range water reducer of the Structuro type adsorbs onto the cement surface and pushes grains apart — modern PCE-based chemistries do this through long side-chains that create steric (physical) separation, which is more powerful and longer-lasting than the electrostatic repulsion of naphthalene-based plasticisers. The freed water then lubricates the mix, so the same workability is achieved at a markedly lower water-cement ratio. That reduced ratio is the lever for the “increased early and ultimate compressive strengths” Fosroc cites: a denser, less porous cement matrix forms, which simultaneously lowers permeability and improves carbonation and chemical resistance. The absence of chloride means none of this strength gain comes at the cost of long-term reinforcement corrosion — a non-negotiable for structural and prestressed work. Note that exact numeric values (specific gravity, chloride limit, recommended dosage range, and the relevant ASTM C494 type / EN 934-2 / IS 9103 classification) are stated on the country-specific Technical Data Sheet, which Fosroc issues per region; the India TDS should be confirmed for any mix design, as dosage interacts strongly with cement chemistry and supplementary cementitious materials.”
Where it is used
- Self-compacting concrete (SCC) that flows and consolidates under its own weight
- High early-strength concrete for fast demoulding and accelerated construction cycles
- High-performance concrete requiring high ultimate strength and durability
- Precast and prestressed concrete elements needing rapid mould turnover
- Reinforced concrete where a chloride-free admixture is mandatory to protect steel
- Durability-critical concrete exposed to carbonation and aggressive atmospheric conditions
Key advantages
- Delivers increased early compressive strength, enabling faster mould and casting-bed turnover
- Raises ultimate compressive strength by allowing a lower water-cement ratio
- No chloride content — safe for steel-reinforced and prestressed concrete
- Produces denser concrete with lower permeability
- Improves resistance to carbonation and aggressive atmospheric conditions for greater durability
- Performs effectively in lower-temperature conditions, useful for North Indian winter casting
- Improves mould turnover efficiency, increasing plant productivity
Limitations & considerations
- Numeric specifications (specific gravity, chloride limit, dosage range, ASTM/EN/IS classification) are issued on the region-specific TDS and must be confirmed for the India market before use
- Optimum dosage must be established by trial mixes — overdosing can cause excessive retardation, bleeding or segregation
- Performance varies with cement source, fly ash/GGBS content and aggregate grading, so it is not a drop-in substitute without re-trialling
- As a high-range water reducer it is dosed at the plant into the mix water; it cannot be applied to or ‘fix’ already-placed or hardened concrete
- Compatibility with other admixtures (retarders, accelerators, air-entrainers) should be verified before combined use
- Being a high-performance PCE-class product, unit cost is typically higher than basic lignosulphonate or naphthalene plasticisers
Selection & best practice
Always establish dosage by laboratory and site trial mixes using the actual project cement, supplementary cementitious materials and aggregates, then dispense Structuro 235 as a liquid with the gauging water — never directly onto dry aggregates or cement. Add it at the plant via a calibrated dispenser, mix thoroughly, and verify slump/flow, setting time and early-age strengths against the mix design. Download and follow the current India Technical Data Sheet from Fosroc for exact dosage limits, specific gravity and classification, and confirm compatibility before combining with any other admixture. Store containers as directed by the TDS, keep them sealed and protected from freezing, and have Space Arc Engineering’s technical team review the mix where high early strength and durability targets are both critical.”

Industry use cases
Precast concrete manufacturing
Precast yards use Structuro 235 to gain high early strength so elements such as beams, panels and pipes can be demoulded sooner, raising mould turnover and daily production without additional formwork investment.
Ready-mix concrete (RMC)
RMC plants across Delhi NCR dose Structuro 235 to produce flowing, low water-cement-ratio concrete that pumps and places easily while still hitting high ultimate strengths for structural pours.
Infrastructure & high-performance structures
Used where high-performance concrete with low permeability and high durability is specified — bridges, industrial structures and exposed elements needing resistance to carbonation and aggressive environments.
Self-compacting concrete works
Enables SCC for congested-reinforcement sections, deep columns and architectural shapes where vibration is impractical, giving full compaction by self-flow.
Cold-weather / winter concreting
Its effectiveness in lower-temperature conditions suits North Indian winter casting schedules where early strength gain would otherwise slow, helping maintain construction cycle times.

How we position Fosroc Structuro 235
Within Fosroc’s own range, Structuro 235 sits among the high-performance Structuro superplasticisers and is typically chosen over basic Conplast SP-series plasticisers (such as Conplast SP430) when both high early and high ultimate strength are required — for example in precast versus general structural work. Buyers comparing it to other Structuro grades (200, 203, 220, 351) should match the grade to whether the priority is self-compaction, early strength, or all-purpose plasticising. Against competitor PCE-based high-range water reducers, it is broadly comparable to Sika’s ViscoCrete range, BASF/Master Builders Solutions MasterGlenium, and high-end products from STP (Steelcrete/Krishna admixtures) and other Indian admixture suppliers; Dr. Fixit (Pidilite) plays more in waterproofing than mainstream superplasticisers, so it is a weaker like-for-like. The honest positioning: Structuro 235 is a premium, chloride-free, durability-focused superplasticiser best justified where fast mould turnover and high-performance concrete pay back its higher unit cost — for routine workability gains, a simpler lignosulphonate or naphthalene plasticiser may be more economical. Space Arc Engineering can advise on the right Fosroc grade or alternative for the specific mix and project economics.”
