Sika Sikament-3007 NS
A modified naphthalene-formaldehyde sulphonate superplasticizer that cuts water demand and keeps concrete flowing, engineered for dense, high-strength pours in reinforced sections and RMC.
What is it?
A high-range water-reducing superplasticizer for concrete, based on modified naphthalene formaldehyde sulphonate (SNF) chemistry, supplied as a dark brown liquid.
Where is it used?
Columns, transfer slabs, rafts and foundations, precast units, industrial floors and pavements, and ready-mix concrete for infrastructure work.
Why use it?
It reduces mixing water sharply while holding workability, so you get denser, stronger, more durable concrete without adding cement.
How is it applied?
Dosed at 0.5 to 2.0 percent by weight of cement, added to the mix water or into the mixer after 50 to 70 percent of the water, then wet-mixed for at least 60 seconds.
About Sika Sikament-3007 NS
Sikament-3007 NS is Sika’s naphthalene-based high-range water reducer, the workhorse admixture that most Indian mix designers reach for when a pour needs to be both fluid and strong. Chemically it is a modified naphthalene formaldehyde sulphonate (commonly called SNF). When it goes into the mix, the sulphonate groups coat the cement grains and give them a like-charge that pushes them apart. That deflocculation frees up water that would otherwise be trapped between clumped particles, which is why you can either pull water out for higher strength or leave it in for a self-levelling flow, all from the same admixture.
For contractors and RMC plants the appeal is practical. A single drum covers a wide dosage window, the product tolerates the ordinary variability of site cement and aggregate, and it performs in the heat that dominates the Indian construction calendar. It is the admixture behind free-flowing pours into congested reinforcement, slender columns, and deep rafts where a stiff mix would honeycomb or need heavy vibration. Space Arc Engineering supplies Sikament-3007 NS as an authorised Sika distributor across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, with technical backing on dosage trials and mix optimisation for your specific job.
The technical insight
The mechanism is electrostatic dispersion. Fresh cement particles carry patchy surface charges that make them flocculate into loose clusters, and each cluster imprisons a film of mixing water that no longer contributes to flow. Sikament-3007 NS is a long-chain naphthalene sulphonate polymer that adsorbs onto those cement surfaces and blankets them with negative charge. Like charges repel, so the flocs break apart and the trapped water is released back into the paste as free lubricating water. That released water is what lets you drop the water-cement ratio: at the same slump you can use noticeably less water, and a lower w/c ratio is the single biggest lever on compressive strength, density, and permeability. The denser paste that results has fewer capillary pores, which is why the concrete also gains durability and water-tightness, not just strength. Because the effect is electrostatic rather than steric, workability retention is good but time-limited compared with newer PCE admixtures, so the dose and the discharge window need to suit the haul and placing time.
Where it is used
- Free-flowing concrete in slender columns and heavily reinforced sections where vibration access is poor
- High-strength transfer slabs, beams, and post-tensioned members
- Rafts, pile caps, and deep foundations needing a fluid, pumpable mix
- Ready-mix concrete for roads, bridges, and infrastructure batching
- Precast and prestressed elements requiring good early handling strength
- Industrial floors and pavements needing a smooth, dense finish
- Site-batched structural concrete in hot-weather pours
- Water-retaining and water-tight structures where low permeability matters
Key advantages
- Strong water reduction lets you raise strength or reduce cement at the same workability
- Produces free-flowing, self-compacting-style mixes that fill congested formwork without honeycombing
- Denser matrix improves durability, water-tightness, and long-term performance
- Good consistence retention gives usable working time for placing and finishing
- Performs reliably in hot-weather Indian site conditions
- Wide dosage window (0.5 to 2.0 percent) suits a broad range of mix designs
- Compliant with IS 9103 and ASTM C494, so it slots into standard specifications
- Improves cohesion and surface finish, reducing bleed and segregation risk
Limitations & considerations
- Naphthalene (SNF) chemistry gives shorter slump life than modern polycarboxylate (PCE) superplasticizers, so long hauls can lose workability
- Overdosing can cause bleeding, segregation, or delayed set, especially in leaner mixes
- Slump retention falls off faster in very high ambient temperatures unless dose or retarder is adjusted
- Optimum dose depends on cement source and aggregate, so a site trial mix is essential before bulk use
- Not a substitute for good mix design, curing, or compaction; it reduces water, it does not fix a poor mix
- Should not be added to dry cement or aggregate; it must go into the water phase to disperse properly
Selection & best practice
Always run a trial mix with your actual cement and aggregate to fix the optimum dose before committing to a bulk supply, because SNF response varies with cement chemistry. Add Sikament-3007 NS to the mixing water, or into the mixer after 50 to 70 percent of the water is in, then wet-mix for a minimum of 60 seconds so it disperses fully; never dose it onto dry cement or aggregate. Start near the lower end of the 0.5 to 2.0 percent range and increase only as the target slump or strength requires. On hot days or long hauls, plan the discharge and placing time around the retained workability, and consider a compatible retarder rather than simply overdosing. Keep the total water in check; the strength gain comes from using the freed-up water to cut the w/c ratio, not from adding it back.

How we position Sika Sikament-3007 NS
Sikament-3007 NS sits in the mid-tier of Sika’s admixture range as the dependable naphthalene high-range water reducer. If your project needs longer slump life or self-compacting behaviour, step up to Sika’s ViscoCrete polycarboxylate (PCE) superplasticizers, which hold workability far longer on long hauls. For structures where a formal chloride-free declaration is mandatory, or where you standardise on Fosroc, our Fosroc Conplast SP430 is a genuine SNF equivalent. Space Arc also supplies complementary products that pair naturally with a superplasticized pour: Sika curing compounds to lock in strength gain, Sika Intraplast or comparable non-shrink grouts for base plates and anchor pockets, and Sikadur epoxy systems for structural bonding and repair on the same site.
Fosroc Conplast SP430 — A specifier standardising on Fosroc, or one who needs a formally chloride-free SNF superplasticizer to BS 5075, would choose Conplast SP430 as the direct counterpart.
