What is it?

A 3K (resin, hardener, graded filler) self-levelling anti-static epoxy flooring system from STP, laid as a ShaliPrime AS primer followed by ShaliFloor SL AS 3E base and top coats to form one seamless, charge-dissipating surface.

Where is it used?

Electronics and semiconductor plants, clean rooms, data centres and server halls, medical-device assembly, and stores handling flammable or explosive material.

Why use it?

It holds surface resistivity in the static-dissipative band, so charge bleeds away steadily instead of building up and discharging as a spark that can damage circuitry or ignite vapours.

How is it applied?

Prime the prepared concrete with ShaliPrime AS, then trowel or squeegee the self-levelling base and top coats to a 3-5 mm build, back-rolled to release air and left to cure into a jointless floor.

About STP ShaliFloor SL AS 3E

ShaliFloor SL AS 3E is STP’s answer to a specific industrial problem: floors where an ordinary epoxy coating is not just inadequate but actively dangerous. In an electronics line or a solvent store, an insulating floor lets the human body and equipment accumulate static charge until it releases in a single uncontrolled discharge. That spark is enough to wipe a microchip or set off a vapour cloud. This system is engineered so charge never gets the chance to build to that point. It is supplied as a three-part pack, referred to as 3K, comprising a bisphenol-A epoxy resin, a cycloaliphatic hardener and a graded conductive filler that together cure into a hard, seamless surface with a controlled, measurable path to earth.

Space Arc Engineering supplies and applies ShaliFloor SL AS 3E as a complete multi-layer build rather than a single product in a tin. The full system runs from the ShaliPrime AS conductive primer through the self-levelling base coat and the pigmented top coat, and on most jobs a copper earthing grid is set into the primer layer so the whole floor is tied back to the building earth. Because the anti-static behaviour depends as much on the earthing detail and the substrate preparation as on the coating chemistry, we treat the whole assembly as one specification and apply it as an authorised STP applicator across Delhi NCR and pan-India.

The technical insight

The anti-static performance comes from the graded conductive filler dispersed through the epoxy matrix. Instead of the resin acting as an insulator, the filler creates a continuous network that lets charge migrate along and through the film rather than sitting on it. STP places the system in the static-dissipative band, with surface resistivity in the order of 10⁴ to 10⁶ megohms measured to ASTM D257 and a static decay time of roughly 0.03 seconds to reach ten percent of peak charge. That combination matters: fully conductive floors bleed charge almost instantly but can create their own hazards, while insulating floors never bleed it at all. Dissipative flooring sits deliberately in between, draining charge fast enough to prevent damaging discharge yet slow enough to avoid a sudden earth path. The self-levelling formulation lets the mixed material flow out to a uniform 3-5 mm film with no trowel marks or cold joints, so the conductive network and the earthing grid stay continuous across the whole area, and the cured floor still develops the compressive strength, above 60 MPa, expected of an industrial epoxy screed.

Where it is used

  • Semiconductor fabrication, PCB assembly and electronics manufacturing lines where ESD damages sensitive components
  • Clean rooms and ISO-classified controlled environments needing a seamless, wipe-clean floor
  • Data centres, server rooms and telecom switching halls
  • Medical-device and pharmaceutical assembly areas
  • Stores and process areas handling flammable solvents, powders or explosive material
  • Battery manufacturing and testing bays
  • Defence and aerospace component workshops
  • Textile and printing units where static causes dust cling and mis-feeds

Key advantages

  • Holds surface resistivity in the static-dissipative range (about 10⁴-10⁶ Mohms to ASTM D257), giving predictable, controlled charge dissipation
  • Fast static decay of around 0.03 seconds so charge is drained before it can discharge as a spark
  • Self-levelling chemistry flows to a uniform 3-5 mm film with no joints, seams or trowel lines to trap the conductive network
  • High compressive strength above 60 MPa withstands forklift and pallet-truck traffic
  • Seamless, non-porous surface is easy to clean and suits clean-room and pharma hygiene needs
  • Resists mild industrial chemicals and regular wet cleaning
  • Integrates with an earthing grid tied to building earth for a complete, verifiable ESD system
  • Supplied as a matched primer-base-top-coat system from a single manufacturer, removing compatibility guesswork

Limitations & considerations

  • Anti-static behaviour depends on a correctly installed copper earthing grid tied to building earth; the coating alone is not a complete ESD solution
  • Not a fully conductive floor; where the specification calls for the conductive band rather than dissipative, the ShaliFloor 3E SL ASC variant is required
  • Epoxy chemistry ambers and can chalk under prolonged direct UV, so it is intended for interior use
  • Substrate must be sound, dry and mechanically prepared; laid over damp or weak concrete the film can debond
  • Chemical resistance covers mild industrial exposure only, not aggressive acid or heavy solvent spillage
  • Pot life is limited once the three components are mixed, so it demands trained applicators working to a plan

Selection & best practice

Success with this floor is decided before any resin is poured. Test the slab for moisture and strength, then mechanically prepare it by shot-blasting or grinding to an open, sound profile. Set out the copper earthing grid and connect it to the building earth before priming, because the anti-static path runs through that grid. Apply ShaliPrime AS as the first bonded layer, then lay the self-levelling base and top coats to the specified 3-5 mm, back-rolling with a spiked roller to release entrapped air. Keep the mixed material moving because pot life is short once the hardener is in. Maintain ambient conditions above the dew point during application and through the initial cure, protect the fresh floor from traffic until fully cured, and verify surface resistivity and earth continuity on the finished floor rather than assuming it. Our applicators handle the earthing, preparation and coating as one scope so responsibility for the ESD result is not split.

Industry use cases

Electronics & Semiconductor

PCB assembly and chip-handling lines where a single uncontrolled discharge can scrap components; the dissipative floor drains operator and cart charge continuously.

Data Centres

Server halls and network rooms where static protection for hardware and a seamless, low-dust surface are both required.

Hazardous & Flammable Storage

Solvent, powder and explosive material stores where preventing spark generation is a fire and safety requirement, not a preference.

Pharma & Medical Devices

Clean-room assembly areas needing an easy-clean, jointless floor that also controls static around sensitive processes.

Battery & Energy

Battery manufacturing and test bays where ESD control and chemical-splash resistance protect both product and personnel.

Frequently asked questions

Is ShaliFloor SL AS 3E anti-static or fully conductive?
It is static-dissipative, sitting in the 10⁴-10⁶ Mohm band. That drains charge fast enough to prevent damaging discharge without the near-instant earth path of a fully conductive floor. If your specification calls for the conductive range instead, STP’s ShaliFloor 3E SL ASC is the matched conductive variant.
Does the coating work on its own, or do I need earthing?
It needs earthing. A copper grid is laid into the primer and tied to the building earth so the whole floor has a defined path to ground. The coating provides the dissipative surface, but the grid completes the ESD system. We install both as one scope.
How thick is the finished floor?
The full system is built to 3-5 mm, comprising the ShaliPrime AS primer plus the self-levelling base and top coats. The exact build is set by the traffic and specification for your area.
What surface do you need underneath?
A sound, dry, structurally adequate concrete slab, mechanically prepared by shot-blasting or grinding. Moisture and weak laitance are the usual causes of epoxy failure, so the slab is tested and prepared before priming.
Can it take forklift traffic?
Yes. With compressive strength above 60 MPa it is built for industrial floors carrying forklifts and pallet trucks, provided the specified thickness and a sound substrate are in place.
Can Space Arc both supply and install it across India?
Yes. We are an authorised STP distributor and applicator covering Delhi NCR and pan-India, and we handle the material supply, substrate preparation, earthing and coating as a single package so the ESD performance is one party’s responsibility.

How we position STP ShaliFloor SL AS 3E

Choose ShaliFloor SL AS 3E when you need a static-dissipative floor: predictable charge bleed for electronics, data centres and flammable-storage areas. Where the specification instead demands a fully conductive floor, step up to STP’s ShaliFloor 3E SL ASC from the same anti-static family. If static control is not a requirement and you simply want a hard-wearing self-levelling industrial floor, the ShaliFloor SL TC 4E top coat or ShaliFloor 3 ES epoxy screed are the standard STP options. For heavy chemical exposure, the glass-flake novolac ShaliFloor SL NES TC is the more resistant route. Across our other brands we can also specify comparable industrial and ESD flooring systems from Dr. Fixit and MC-Bauchemie where a project standardises on a particular manufacturer; talk to our team about matching the floor to your ESD test targets and traffic.
