What is it?

A single-component, solvent-based, penetrating synthetic acrylic coating that seals concrete floors, binds surface particles and dries to a semi-gloss, flexible film. It doubles as a concrete curing membrane compliant with ASTM C309.

Where is it used?

Warehouses, indoor car parks and basement parking, garages, light industrial sheds, factory and godown floors, and any cementitious slab that needs a quick, low-build dustproofing seal across Delhi NCR and Pan-India projects.

Why use it?

It stops concrete dusting, makes floors easier to clean and more resistant to oil, dirt and mild chemical pick-up, resists abrasion, is UV-resistant and non-yellowing, and needs no mixing — a fast, economical seal applied by a brush, roller or spray.

How is it applied?

Onto a sound, clean, dry slab in a minimum of two coats by short-nap roller, brush or spray at roughly 6-8 m2/litre per coat, allowing 2-4 hours between coats; or as a single-coat curing membrane on fresh green concrete at about 4-5 m2/litre.

About Fosroc Nitoflor FC100

Fosroc Nitoflor FC100 is a single-pack, penetrating synthetic acrylic floor sealer and curing membrane from Fosroc’s Nitoflor flooring range. It is a ready-to-use, solvent-based liquid that needs no on-site mixing: you stir it and apply it straight from the can. Once applied it penetrates the concrete surface, binds the loose surface particles together and cures to a semi-gloss, flexible film with excellent adhesion to cementitious substrates. The result is a slab that no longer dusts, sheds liquids more easily, cleans up faster and wears better than bare concrete. It is one of the most economical entry points into the Nitoflor family and is a familiar specification on Indian warehouse, parking and light-industrial projects. For contractors and facility owners across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, Space Arc Engineering supplies and applies Nitoflor FC100 as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator, pairing the material with the correct surface preparation and quality of workmanship the product depends on. A useful feature of FC100 is its dual identity: applied in two-plus coats it works as a thin protective floor coating, while a single coat on freshly placed green concrete acts as a curing compound that complies with ASTM C309 — letting the same product cure the slab and later seal it where compatibility between the curing media and the final seal coat is required.

The technical insight

The defining technical point about FC100 is that it is a penetrating sealer, not a high-build coating. Designed at roughly 50-60 microns total dry film thickness over two coats (about 28-33 microns per coat), it works by impregnating and binding the top layer of concrete rather than laying down a thick wearing course. That has two consequences engineers must respect. First, the substrate must be fine-textured and sound — because the film is thin, any surface irregularity telegraphs through, high spots wear first, and as Fosroc states plainly, “Nitoflor FC100 will not fix bad or dusty concrete.” Second, moisture is the enemy: FC100 must not be applied over slabs subject to rising damp, and slab-on-ground floors should have a damp-proof membrane beneath them, or solvent and adhesion problems follow. Being solvent-based it carries a significant flammable-solvent load (flash point around 40 degrees C, VOC roughly 712 g/L for clear), so ventilation, fire precautions and a no-naked-flame discipline are mandatory during and after application. Climate-wise it has a real working window for Indian conditions — do not apply below 10 degrees C, above 30 degrees C ambient (during or for 24 hours after, or solvent entrapment causes bubbling), or when relative humidity exceeds 85 percent. Chemically it is built to shrug off oils, dirt and mild chemicals, but it is not resistant to concentrated acids, oxidising agents, or aromatic and chlorinated solvents, and is unsuitable where hydrocarbon or solvent spillage is likely.

Where it is used

  • Dustproofing and sealing warehouse and godown floors so forklift and pedestrian traffic no longer raises concrete dust
  • Indoor car parks, basement parking decks and garage floors needing an easy-clean, oil-shedding surface
  • Light industrial sheds, assembly areas and packaging halls where a low-cost protective seal is sufficient
  • Curing membrane on freshly placed concrete slabs, complying with ASTM C309, that can later be over-sealed
  • Food, beverage and general factory floors requiring reduced dusting and improved housekeeping (away from heavy chemical or solvent exposure)
  • A compatible seal coat over approved curing compounds such as Concure CR where a single finishing coat is acceptable
  • Refurbishment of old but sound concrete floors after grinding and degreasing to restore a clean, sealed surface

Key advantages

  • Single component — no mixing, no induction time, ready to use straight from the can
  • Simple application by brush, short-nap roller or spray; can be applied by maintenance personnel
  • Totally seals the surface to prevent concrete dusting and improve indoor cleanliness
  • Good resistance to abrasion and to penetration of oils, dirt and mild chemicals
  • UV-resistant and non-yellowing, so the finish holds appearance over time
  • Doubles as an ASTM C309-compliant curing membrane, curing and sealing in one product
  • Available in clear, grey and special colours made to order
  • Economical, fast-drying low-build system — tack-free in about 3 hours at 25 degrees C
  • Easy to maintain and re-coat, extending floor service life with good housekeeping

Limitations & considerations

  • A thin penetrating sealer — will not repair, mask or rescue bad, weak or already-dusting concrete
  • Not resistant to concentrated acids, oxidising agents, or aromatic/chlorinated solvents; unsuitable where hydrocarbon or solvent spillage is likely
  • Durability is reduced in very heavy-traffic spots (around workbenches, doorways, vending machines) — needs extra coats or a higher-build system there
  • Must not be applied over slabs suffering from rising damp; slab-on-ground floors need a damp-proof membrane
  • Solvent-based and flammable (flash point ~40 degrees C, high VOC) — demands ventilation and fire precautions, less suited to occupied/sensitive interiors
  • Tight application window: not below 10 degrees C, not above 30 degrees C ambient, not above 85% RH, or bubbling/poor cure results
  • Substrate must be fine-textured and well prepared; surface defects telegraph through the thin film
  • Not a heavy-duty industrial topping — for chemical attack, impact or thick wear courses an epoxy or PU screed system is required

Selection & best practice

Treat preparation as the job, not the coat. The slab must be sound, clean, dry and fine-textured: on new floors remove laitance by light diamond grinding (or, failing that, a 3-5% hydrochloric acid wash, neutralise, high-pressure rinse and dry), then vacuum off all dust; on old floors grind back and strip oil and grease with a chemical degreaser or hot compressed air, and patch defects with a Nitomortar repair product first. Confirm there is no rising damp and that a DPM sits under any slab-on-ground floor. Stir the material, then apply a minimum of two coats by short-nap roller, brush or spray at 6-8 m2/litre per coat (Fosroc’s design target is about 50-60 microns total DFT); back-roll or brush the first coat to drive penetration into the concrete, and use three coats on porous or coarse surfaces. Allow 2-4 hours between coats. Work within the climate window — 10 to 30 degrees C, below 85% RH — and never apply when temperatures will exceed 30 degrees C for 24 hours after, to avoid solvent-entrapment bubbling. Specify extra coats or step up to a higher-build Nitoflor system at heavy-wear hot-spots. Clean tools immediately with Fosroc Solvent 10/Solvent 102, ventilate the area, and maintain the floor by routine rotary scrubbing or hot-water washing up to 50 degrees C.

Industry use cases

Warehousing & Logistics

Sealing and dustproofing distribution-centre and godown floors so concrete dust does not contaminate stored goods or foul forklift bearings, while keeping the floor easy to sweep and wash.

Car Parks & Basements

Coating indoor multi-level and basement parking decks to give an oil-resistant, easy-clean surface that resists tyre pick-up dust and improves the look of bare concrete.

Light Industrial & Manufacturing

Protecting assembly, packaging and general factory floors where a low-cost seal is enough, with extra coats specified around workbenches and doorways that see heavier wear.

New Construction (Curing)

Acting as an ASTM C309-compliant curing membrane on freshly placed slabs to retain mix water for proper hydration, then later over-sealed as the floor’s finish coat.

Commercial & Retail BackofF-house

Dustproofing stockrooms, service corridors and back-of-house areas of malls and showrooms where appearance and cleanliness matter but heavy chemical exposure does not.

Food & Beverage (dry areas)

Reducing concrete dusting in dry storage and ancillary areas to support hygiene and housekeeping, kept clear of wet-process zones and aggressive cleaning chemicals where an epoxy or PU system is required instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fosroc Nitoflor FC100 a waterproofing membrane?
No. Despite some confusion in third-party listings, the official Fosroc datasheets describe FC100 as a single-pack acrylic floor sealer and concrete curing membrane — not a waterproofing system. It dustproofs and seals concrete and resists liquid penetration, but it is not designed to waterproof roofs, terraces or below-grade structures. For waterproofing, use the appropriate Fosroc Proofex or Nitoproof range.
How many coats and what coverage should I plan for?
As a floor coating, apply a minimum of two coats at roughly 6-8 m2/litre per coat (some datasheets cite 4-8 m2/litre), giving about 50-60 microns total dry film thickness. Porous or coarse surfaces may need a third coat. As a curing membrane on fresh concrete, one coat at about 4-5 m2/litre is used. Practical coverage is always lower than theoretical because of substrate texture and wastage.
Can FC100 be used to cure new concrete and then seal it later?
Yes — that is one of its strengths. A single coat on freshly placed green concrete works as an ASTM C309-compliant curing membrane, and because it is the same acrylic chemistry it remains compatible with a later FC100 seal coat. It can also be applied as a single finishing coat over an approved, tested curing compound such as Concure CR.
What floors is FC100 NOT suitable for?
It is a thin sealer, not a heavy-duty topping. Avoid it where concentrated acids, oxidising agents, aromatic or chlorinated solvents, or hydrocarbon and solvent spillages occur; in very heavy-traffic or impact zones; over damp slabs or those subject to rising damp; and on weak, dusty or badly finished concrete, which it cannot repair. For those duties choose an epoxy (e.g. Nitoflor SL2000) or PU screed system.
What is the working temperature window for application in Indian conditions?
Apply between 10 and 30 degrees C at relative humidity below 85%. Do not apply when the ambient temperature will exceed 30 degrees C during application or for 24 hours after, or solvent entrapment can cause bubbling. In Delhi NCR summers this usually means early-morning or evening application and avoiding peak afternoon heat.
What pack sizes and colours are available, and who supplies it in India?
FC100 is supplied in 20-litre packs in clear and grey, with special colours made to order. In India it is available through authorised Fosroc distributors; Space Arc Engineering supplies and professionally applies Nitoflor FC100 across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, with technical guidance on preparation, system selection and the right coat build for your floor.

How we position Fosroc Nitoflor FC100

Within Fosroc’s Nitoflor range, FC100 sits at the entry level of floor protection — a thin, economical acrylic seal for dustproofing and easy-clean duty rather than a structural wear course. Where service demands more, the family steps up: Nitoflor FC150 / FC150 HP for a higher-build acrylic finish in heavier-traffic zones, dry-shake hardeners such as Nitoflor Hardtop for monolithic wear resistance, silicate densifiers like Nitoflor Lithurin for chemically hardened dustproofing, and full epoxy or polyurethane systems (Nitoflor SL2000 self-levelling epoxy, Nitoflor EPU2000) for heavy industrial, chemical and impact exposure. Choosing correctly means matching the duty to the system rather than over- or under-specifying FC100. Against competitor ranges, FC100 occupies the same niche as Sika’s Sikafloor acrylic and curing-seal products and the lighter sealers in the MBCC/Master Builders Solutions MasterTop line; for the heavy-duty PU-cementitious and epoxy territory beyond FC100’s scope, the credible alternatives are systems such as MasterTop / Ucrete (Master Builders Solutions) and Sikafloor epoxy and PU screeds. As an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator, Space Arc Engineering specifies FC100 only where it genuinely fits and recommends the appropriate higher-performance Nitoflor or alternative system when the floor’s exposure, traffic or chemical loading calls for it.
