Fosroc Nitoflor TF30
A trowel-applied 3-6 mm resin-rich epoxy screed engineered for heavy engineering, chemical-process and food-industry floors that face aggressive spillage, abrasion and constant traffic.
What is it?
A three-part, solvent-free epoxy floor screed combining epoxy resin, modified amine hardeners and high-strength inert aggregates, trowel-laid at 3-6 mm to form a dense, impervious, chemical- and abrasion-resistant topping.
Where is it used?
Heavy engineering plants, chemical handling and process areas, steelworks, dairies, breweries, oil refineries, paint shops, battery rooms, plating works, and sugar and food-processing floors across India.
Why use it?
It delivers 75 N/mm2 compressive strength, broad chemical resistance and a safe non-slip finish in a single trowel-applied system, cutting maintenance and downtime versus painted or unprotected concrete floors.
How is it applied?
Concrete is primed with Nitoprime 25 (steel with Nitoprime 28 after SA 2.5 blasting); the mixed resin, hardener and graded aggregate are trowel-laid, tamped with a float for compaction and steel-trowelled to a closed even texture at 3-6 mm.
About Fosroc Nitoflor TF30
Fosroc Nitoflor TF30 is a heavy-duty industrial floor screed from the Nitoflor high-performance flooring range, supplied in India by Fosroc Chemicals (India) Pvt. Ltd. It is a three-part, solvent-free system: an epoxy resin base, a modified amine hardener and a pre-weighed bag of specially graded, high-crushing-strength chemically inert aggregates. When these are blended on site and trowel-applied at a nominal 3-6 mm, they cure to a dense, monolithic topping that is impervious to liquids and resistant to both mechanical wear and aggressive chemical spillage.
The product is best understood as a resin-rich screed rather than a thin coating. Where a 2-3 coat epoxy paint or self-levelling system might give 0.3-2 mm of cover, TF30 builds genuine structural thickness that can absorb impact, point loading and forklift traffic without breaking down. The careful choice of amine curing agent and aggregate grading is what gives the cured floor its combination of strength and a wide chemical resistance envelope, finished to a slightly granular, self-coloured, non-slip surface that needs no overcoating.
For Indian contractors, consultants and plant engineers, TF30 sits in the bracket of “lay it once, forget it for years” floors. It is specified where the cost of floor failure, contamination or shutdown far outweighs the installed cost of the screed, and where above-average durability and low maintenance are non-negotiable. Space Arc Engineering supplies and applies Nitoflor TF30 with the matching Nitoprime primers as a complete system across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
The technical insight
The performance of Nitoflor TF30 comes from being a resin-rich, aggregate-filled epoxy screed rather than a flowable resin. The graded high-crushing-strength aggregate carries compressive and abrasive load while the amine-cured epoxy matrix binds the matrix and provides the chemical barrier. Verified mechanical figures from the Fosroc India datasheet are 75 N/mm2 compressive strength, 26 N/mm2 flexural strength, 12 N/mm2 tensile strength, abrasion resistance of 3.0 mg/cycle and bond strength to concrete of 3.0 N/mm2. The chemical resistance is genuinely broad: rated Excellent on constant immersion at 30 C against 10% hydrochloric acid, 10% sulphuric acid, 30% phosphoric acid, 10% lactic and citric acids, 30% sodium hydroxide, ammonia, white spirit, oil/grease/petrol, concentrated bleach and saturated urea and sugar solutions. It is rated Good (occasional spillage with good housekeeping) against 10% nitric acid, butanol, xylene and Skydrol, and importantly is Not resistant to acetone, which is a real specification limit to note. The system is substrate-aware: concrete is primed with Nitoprime 25, while steel must be shot-blasted to SA 2.5 and primed with Nitoprime 28. Maximum overlay time after priming is short (30 minutes for Nitoprime 25, 1 hour for Nitoprime 28 at 30 C), so priming and screed laying must be sequenced tightly. Pot life of the mixed screed is 30 minutes at 30 C, initial hardness at 16 hours and full cure at 7 days.
Where it is used
- Heavy engineering and fabrication plant floors subject to point loading and abrasion
- Chemical handling, dosing and process areas exposed to acid and alkali spillage
- Steelworks, foundries and metal-treatment bays
- Dairies, breweries and beverage plants with hot-water and wash-down regimes
- Oil refineries and petrochemical process floors with oil, grease and petrol exposure
- Paint workshops, battery charging rooms and electroplating shops
- Sugar mills and food-processing areas requiring an impervious, hygienic topping
- Lighter-duty areas where above-average durability and low maintenance justify a resin screed
Key advantages
- High compressive strength of 75 N/mm2 for heavy point and traffic loads
- Broad chemical resistance covering common industrial acids, alkalis, solvents and aqueous solutions
- Impervious, dense topping that resists liquid penetration and contamination
- Safe non-slip, close-textured finish suitable for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic
- Strong concrete bond of 3.0 N/mm2 for a durable, monolithic floor
- Solvent-free formulation with no overcoating required after laying
- Pre-weighed units (resin, hardener, aggregate) for consistent on-site mixing
- Can be laid on both concrete and correctly prepared steel substrates
Limitations & considerations
- Not resistant to acetone, and only Good (not Excellent) against nitric acid, xylene, butanol and Skydrol
- Short 30-minute pot life at 30 C demands disciplined batching and a forced-action mixer
- Trowel-applied, so finish quality depends heavily on applicator skill and compaction technique
- New concrete must be at least 28 days old with moisture content below 5% before application
- Tight priming overlay windows (30 min for Nitoprime 25, 1 hr for Nitoprime 28) require careful sequencing
- Steel substrates need shot blasting to SA 2.5 and a separate primer (Nitoprime 28)
- Existing expansion joints must be carried through the topping; it is not a crack-bridging system
- Full cure takes 7 days, so heavy service loading should be deferred accordingly
Selection & best practice
Apply Nitoflor TF30 only to sound, clean, dry substrates. New concrete should be at least 28 days old with moisture content under 5%; remove laitance by grit-blasting, scabbling or grinding (acid etching with Fosroc Acid Etch only on small areas, followed by thorough washing and drying). Prime concrete with Nitoprime 25 (a second coat on porous floors) and prime shot-blasted steel (SA 2.5) with Nitoprime 28, then lay the screed within the maximum overlay time once the primer is tacky. Mix the full hardener tin into the base until homogeneous, then add the pre-blended aggregate and mix a further 2-3 minutes with a forced-action paddle. Lay at the design thickness of 3-6 mm (typically 3 mm for chemical/abrasion duty, building up for heavier impact), tamp with a wooden float for full compaction and finish with a steel trowel to a closed even texture; use screeding rods to hold minimum thickness. Carry existing expansion joints through the topping. For estimating, Nitoflor TF30 covers about 4.0 m2/L at 3 mm (12 L unit) and Nitoprime 25 covers about 5.5-6.5 m2/L. Clean tools immediately with Nitoflor Sol or xylene, and allow 7 days for full cure before heavy service.

How we position Fosroc Nitoflor TF30
Within the Fosroc range, Nitoflor TF30 is the heavy-duty, trowel-applied resin-rich screed – thicker and more impact-tolerant than thin-film systems. For free-flowing, smoother finishes consider the self-smoothing and self-levelling Nitoflor SL range; for thinner coating duties look at Nitoflor coatings such as the FC130/FC150 epoxy coatings; and where thermal shock, steam cleaning and the toughest hygiene demands apply, Fosroc’s polyurethane screeds (Nitoflor Floorcrete PU) are the step up. Against competitor systems, TF30 is broadly comparable to Sika’s Sikafloor heavy-duty epoxy mortar screeds and to MBCC/Master Builders Solutions MasterTop epoxy screeds, while Ucrete (the well-known PU concrete from the same MasterTop family) is the benchmark alternative where temperature cycling and aggressive thermal/chemical wash-down exceed what an epoxy screed is rated for. The honest positioning: TF30 is an excellent, proven choice for abrasion and broad chemical resistance at ambient temperatures, but where acetone, strong oxidising acids or high-temperature steam cleaning dominate the duty, a PU screed such as Ucrete or Nitoflor Floorcrete PU should be evaluated instead. Space Arc Engineering can advise on the right Nitoflor system for a given exposure and supply it across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.
