Fosroc Nitoflor TS5000
Three-part solvent-free epoxy resin screed engineered for heavy traffic, abrasion and impact — trowel-applied at a minimum of 5 mm for the most demanding industrial floors.
What is it?
A three-part, solvent-free epoxy resin screed (resin + modified amine hardener + graded high-strength heavy-density aggregate) that is trowel-laid to form a seamless, abrasion-resistant heavy-duty industrial floor topping.
Where is it used?
Steelworks, heavy engineering plants, paper and pulp mills, breweries, automobile and tyre plants, warehouses, trucking lanes and loading bays where floors face constant wear, impact and forklift movement.
Why use it?
It delivers an extremely high-strength, monolithic, non-slip surface far tougher than the parent concrete, resisting mechanical wear and occasional chemical spillage while staying seamless and easy to clean.
How is it applied?
Prepare and prime the substrate (Nitoprime 25 on concrete, Nitoprime 28 on shot-blasted steel), then trowel the pre-weighed TS5000 to a minimum compacted thickness of 5 mm; an optional Nitoflor FC seal coat is added for hygiene or chemical duty.
About Fosroc Nitoflor TS5000
Fosroc Nitoflor TS5000 is a heavy-duty, trowel-applied epoxy screed designed for industrial floors that take a beating. Chemically it is a three-part, solvent-free system: an epoxy resin base, a modified amine hardener, and a bag of specially graded, high-crushing-strength heavy-density aggregate. When these components are mixed on site and laid over a primed substrate, they cure into a dense, seamless floor topping that is significantly stronger and more wear-resistant than the concrete beneath it. The cured surface has a slightly granular texture and uniform colour, giving a safe, non-slip footing for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Within the Nitoflor family, the “TS” line is positioned for abrasion and mechanical wear (its aggregate is selected for hardness and density), while the closely related “TF” line emphasises chemical resistance with chemically inert fillers. For an Indian project team, the practical appeal is that TS5000 arrives in pre-weighed units — resin, hardener and aggregate proportioned at the factory — so there is no batching guesswork at site, and the Nitoprime 25 primer is supplied as part of the same system. Space Arc Engineering, as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, supplies TS5000 together with the correct primers, seal coats and on-site application support so that the specified performance is actually achieved on the floor, not just on paper.
The technical insight
The performance of TS5000 comes from aggregate packing, not just resin chemistry. Because the heavy-density aggregate is graded and densely packed within the epoxy matrix, the screed behaves more like a filled composite than a coating — it carries point loads from forklift wheels and dropped tooling and resists surface grinding under steel-wheeled traffic. That is why it is laid as a screed at a minimum compacted thickness of 5 mm rather than as a thin paint-like film; the thickness and aggregate are doing the structural work. Two consequences follow for specifiers. First, substrate strength and preparation are decisive: the bond is only as good as the surface it keys into, so concrete must be sound, at least 28 days old, below ~5% moisture, and mechanically prepared (grit-blasting, scabbling or grinding) before priming with Nitoprime 25 while the primer is still tacky. On steel, the surface is shot-blasted to SA 2½ and primed with Nitoprime 28. Second, the published mechanical figures (compressive, flexural, tensile and pull-off bond strength) vary between TDS revisions and regions — across the TS/TF5000 family they are typically quoted to standards such as BS 6319 and ASTM C579, with compressive strength comfortably in excess of the parent concrete and pull-off bond strength to concrete in the order of 2.5–3.0 N/mm². For any contractual specification, the exact stamped value should be read off the current Fosroc India TDS for TS5000, which Space Arc can supply with the consignment.
Where it is used
- Steelworks, foundries and heavy engineering plant floors subject to constant abrasion and impact
- Paper and pulp mills where wet, abrasive and heavy-traffic conditions coincide
- Brewery, beverage and food-processing floor areas needing a tough, washable surface
- Automobile assembly and tyre-manufacturing plants with forklift and trolley movement
- Warehouse aisles, trucking lanes and loading bays carrying repeated wheeled loads
- Workshops and maintenance bays where dropped tools and point loads damage plain concrete
- Perimeter coving (formed integrally) to create a seamless, hygienic floor-to-wall junction
Key advantages
- Exceptional abrasion and mechanical-wear resistance from graded heavy-density aggregate
- Solvent-free, three-part formulation supplied in pre-weighed units for accurate on-site mixing
- Seamless, jointless surface (except at substrate movement joints) that eliminates failure lines
- Safe, slightly granular non-slip texture for pedestrian and vehicular traffic
- Resists occasional chemical spillage and is impervious, so it is easy to clean and maintain
- Can be sealed with the Nitoflor FC range for higher hygiene or chemical-duty areas
- Bonds strongly to correctly prepared concrete and to shot-blasted steel substrates
- Available in a range of colours for zoning, demarcation and a professional finish
Limitations & considerations
- Not a self-levelling product — it is a trowel-applied screed needing skilled applicators for a fair, even finish
- Requires a minimum compacted thickness of about 5 mm, so it is heavier and costlier than thin-film coatings
- Substrate must be sound, dry (≈<5% moisture) and mechanically prepared; performance fails on weak or contaminated concrete
- Limited pot life once mixed — material must be placed promptly, especially in hot Indian site conditions
- Epoxy systems can chalk, yellow or lose gloss under prolonged UV, so it is intended for interior floors
- For aggressive chemical exposure the chemically inert TF5000 line or a dedicated chemical-resistant system may be more appropriate
- Substrate movement and expansion joints must be carried through the topping; it does not bridge cracks
- Sensitive to epoxy resins — handlers need gloves, eye protection and good ventilation during application
Selection & best practice
Treat surface preparation and priming as the load-bearing decisions, not afterthoughts. On concrete, confirm the slab is at least 28 days old and below roughly 5% moisture, mechanically remove laitance by grit-blasting/scabbling/grinding, vacuum off all dust, then apply Nitoprime 25 and lay the TS5000 while the primer is still tacky for a chemical bond; on steel, shot-blast to SA 2½ and prime with Nitoprime 28. Mix the full hardener tin into the base, blend the aggregate in for 2–3 minutes, and only mix what your team can trowel within the pot life — discard stiffened material rather than stretching it. Maintain a true minimum compacted thickness of 5 mm using screed rods, carry all substrate expansion joints through the topping, and form coving integrally where a hygienic junction is needed. In wet or high-cleanliness areas, seal with a Nitoflor FC coat once the screed is at least one day old. Always work to the values and times on the current Fosroc India TDS for the specific batch.

How we position Fosroc Nitoflor TS5000
Nitoflor TS5000 is Fosroc’s heavy-duty, abrasion-led epoxy screed and is best read alongside its siblings: where chemical resistance dominates, the chemically inert Nitoflor TF5000 (or TF5000 E) is the natural counterpart, and for hygiene or chemical sealing both are topped with the Nitoflor FC range (e.g. FC140). The system is completed by Fosroc primers — Nitoprime 25 on concrete and Nitoprime 28 on steel — so it should be specified as a kit, not a single product. Against the wider Indian market, credible alternatives in the same heavy-duty trowelled-screed class include Sika’s Sikafloor industrial screeds, MYK/MBS (Roff) epoxy flooring, Dr. Fixit (Pidilite) industrial flooring systems, and STP epoxy screeds; each vendor publishes its own mechanical and chemical data, and selection should turn on the verified compressive/abrasion performance, traffic regime, downtime tolerance and — critically — the quality of the applicator. Space Arc Engineering positions TS5000 for wear-dominated industrial floors (steel, paper, automotive, warehousing) and, as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator in Delhi NCR and Pan-India, supplies it with the correct primers, seal coats, the current stamped Fosroc India TDS, and on-site application support to ensure the specified floor is what actually gets laid.
