Fosroc Nitoflor Conductive
A 2 mm seamless epoxy static-conductive floor topping that safely bleeds static charge to earth — engineered for electronics, clean rooms, magazines and operating theatres where ESD control is non-negotiable.
What is it?
A solvent-free epoxy-resin static-conductive (and dissipative) self-smoothing floor topping system that drains electrostatic charge to earth through an embedded conductive undercoat and copper earthing network, laid at 2 mm.
Where is it used?
Electronics manufacturing and assembly lines, clean rooms, computer/server rooms, defence and explosives magazines, pharmaceutical units, and hospital operating theatres across India.
Why use it?
It delivers a verified surface resistance of 5×10⁴–1×10⁶ ohms (CPRI-certified to BS 2050), preventing static build-up that can destroy electronic components or ignite flammable atmospheres, while giving a seamless, hygienic, chemical-resistant floor.
How is it applied?
Specialist-applied as a three-part system — Nitoprime 25 primer, a conductive undercoat tied to copper earthing strips, then a 2 mm trowel-and-spike-rolled conductive topcoat — over sound, dry (<5%) concrete.
About Fosroc Nitoflor Conductive
Fosroc Nitoflor Conductive is a static-control epoxy flooring system designed for environments where uncontrolled electrostatic discharge (ESD) is a genuine hazard — to sensitive electronic components, to product yields, or to people working around flammable vapours and dusts. In the Indian Fosroc range it is supplied as the Nitoflor SL Conductive / Dissipative system, a self-smoothing flow-applied topping built from blended epoxy resins, curing agents and graded inert aggregates. The conductive variant is engineered to hold a surface and bulk resistance of 5×10⁴ to 1×10⁶ ohms, while the companion dissipative grade sits higher at 1×10⁶ to 1×10⁹ ohms for areas needing slower, gentler charge bleed-off.\n\nWhat makes the system function is not a single coat but a deliberately layered build. A coat of Nitoprime 25 seals and bonds to the prepared substrate. Over that, a conductive undercoat — itself a low-resistance epoxy in the 3×10³–9×10³ ohm range — is rolled on at a tightly controlled coverage rate and tied into copper earthing connections placed at the floor edges and across every movement joint. Finally a 2 mm pigmented conductive topcoat is poured, trowelled and spike-rolled to a smooth, light-reflective, seamless finish. The earthing network and the undercoat together give static electricity a continuous, reliable path to ground; the topcoat carries the wear, chemical exposure and appearance. The completed floor is CPRI (Central Power Research Institute) certified for charge dissipation, which matters a great deal to Indian consultants writing specifications for defence, electronics and pharma clients.\n\nFor contractors, consultants and procurement teams in India, the appeal is a single accountable system that answers a hard performance question — measured resistance to earth — rather than a decorative coating that merely claims anti-static behaviour. Space Arc Engineering, as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, supplies the full system together with the surface preparation, earthing layout and electrical verification that make the warranty meaningful.
The technical insight
The single most misunderstood point about conductive flooring is that the number on the datasheet is a system property, not a product property. Nitoflor Conductive’s headline 5×10⁴–1×10⁶ ohm rating (per BS 2050:1978 and DIN EN 1081) is only achieved when the conductive undercoat is applied at its specified consumption — 6.3 to 7.3 m²/litre — and is electrically bonded to a properly grounded copper earthing grid. Over-apply the undercoat, skip an earthing tie at a joint, or let coverage drift, and the resistance to earth climbs out of range, quietly defeating the whole installation. This is why the undercoat’s own resistance (3×10³–9×10³ ohms) must be physically measured on site before the topcoat goes down — the verification step is part of the method statement, not an optional extra. The system also carries a Federal Test Method 101B, Method 4046 static-decay claim of under 0.01 seconds to discharge a +5kV peak to 0%, the metric that genuinely protects ESD-sensitive electronics. Mechanically the topping is robust (50 N/mm² compressive, 16 N/mm² tensile, 34 N/mm² flexural per BS 6319), but its electrical performance is entirely application-dependent — making applicator competence the real specification.
Where it is used
- ESD-safe flooring for electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly and semiconductor handling areas
- Clean rooms and controlled environments in pharmaceutical and medical-device plants
- Computer rooms, data centres and server halls requiring static dissipation
- Defence and ordnance magazines, explosives and pyrotechnics stores with flammable-atmosphere risk
- Hospital operating theatres and critical-care suites
- Hazardous dust and solvent-handling process areas where static ignition is a risk
Key advantages
- Verified static control — provides an effective, continuous passage of static electricity to earth, CPRI-certified to 5×10⁴–1×10⁶ ohms
- Fast static decay — discharges a +5kV charge to 0% in under 0.01 seconds (FTM 101B Method 4046), protecting sensitive electronics
- Seamless and hygienic — dense, impervious, jointless surface that is easy to clean and suits clean-room and theatre use
- Chemically resistant — withstands petrol, oils and fats, detergents, some aliphatic hydrocarbons and dilute alkalis
- Durable — good abrasion resistance with 50 N/mm² compressive strength for industrial traffic
- Aesthetic flexibility — available in a range of colours and a light-reflective finish to improve working environments
- Dual-grade family — conductive and dissipative versions let the specifier match the resistance band to the exact application
Limitations & considerations
- Electrical performance is fully application-dependent — incorrect undercoat coverage or a missed earthing connection puts resistance out of range
- Must not be applied below 15°C, which requires planning for winter installations in North India
- Requires a sound, dry substrate — concrete at least 28 days old with moisture content below 5%, and a damp-proof membrane to prevent osmosis
- At only 2 mm the topping is not self-levelling over major substrate defects; the slab must be relatively even and pre-repaired (e.g. with Nitomortar S)
- Cannot be applied over asphalt, unmodified sand/cement screeds, PVC tiles or vinyl
- Full chemical and traffic service requires curing — foot traffic after 24 hours and full traffic after 5 days at 30°C
- Earthing layout, copper-strip placement and on-site resistance verification demand a trained specialist applicator, not a general painter
Selection & best practice
Treat the earthing design as the first deliverable, not an afterthought: agree copper-strip locations and joint bridging with Fosroc/Space Arc before priming, place earthing connections at floor perimeters and across every expansion/movement joint, and physically measure the conductive undercoat’s surface resistance (target 3×10³–9×10³ ohms) before laying the topcoat. Apply over a damp-proof-membrane-protected slab that is at least 28 days old and below 5% moisture, prime with Nitoprime 25 (two coats on porous floors), hold the undercoat to its exact 6.3–7.3 m²/litre rate, and spike-roll the 2 mm topcoat to release entrained air. Never apply below 15°C and always commission the finished floor with a documented resistance-to-earth test.

Industry use cases
Electronics & Semiconductors
Assembly lines, PCB and component-handling areas where a single ESD event can scrap high-value parts — the sub-0.01s static decay and 5×10⁴–1×10⁶ ohm band directly protect sensitive devices.
Defence & Explosives Magazines
Ordnance, propellant and pyrotechnics stores where static ignition is a life-safety hazard; CPRI certification supports compliance in government and PSU tenders.

How we position Fosroc Nitoflor Conductive
Fosroc Nitoflor Conductive sits at the specialist, performance-critical end of Fosroc’s industrial-flooring portfolio. Within the Fosroc range it pairs naturally with Nitoprime 25 (its mandatory primer), Nitomortar S for substrate repair, and the broader Nitoflor family — Nitoflor SL self-levelling toppings for general areas, Nitoflor FC/heavy-duty screeds for high-abrasion zones, and Nitoflor EPU Conductive & Dissipative where a tougher PU-hybrid ESD floor with better thermal-cycling resistance is needed. A typical building might use Nitoflor Conductive only in the ESD-critical bays and a standard epoxy elsewhere. Against the wider market, credible alternatives include Sika’s Sikafloor conductive/ESD systems, MYK/MBS and STP conductive epoxies, and BASF/MBCC ranges; Dr. Fixit (Pidilite) is a strong general-flooring competitor but less focused on certified ESD work. Where a project specification calls for CPRI-certified charge dissipation, a documented resistance-to-earth band, and a single applicator accountable for the earthing design — as in defence magazines, electronics plants and pharma clean rooms — Nitoflor Conductive is a well-proven, specification-grade choice. Space Arc Engineering’s value is not just supply but the surface prep, copper-earthing layout and on-site electrical verification that turn the datasheet number into a floor that actually performs.
