Fosroc Nitoflor TF 100 UH
A 5-10 mm heavy-duty polyurethane hybrid screed engineered for wet-process, food-grade and chemically aggressive floors that defeat ordinary epoxy.
What is it?
A heavy-duty, trowel-applied polyurethane-based hybrid floor screed (formerly Fosroc Nitoflor Uragard CR), laid 5-10 mm thick, that combines very high chemical resistance with thermal-shock and freeze/thaw tolerance.
Where is it used?
Wet and chemically aggressive industrial floors: food and beverage processing, dairies, breweries and bottling lines, commercial kitchens, cold stores and freezer rooms, pharmaceutical and fine-chemical plants, and process areas exposed to steam cleaning or thermal cycling.
Why use it?
Where standard epoxy screeds soften, blister or debond under hot water, steam, fats, sugars and aggressive chemicals, the PU-hybrid matrix in TF 100 UH stays bonded and chemically stable across a wide service-temperature band.
How is it applied?
The prepared concrete or steel substrate is primed with Nitocote Primer Sealer, blinded with Antislip Grain No. 3, then the base, hardener, colour pack and filler are forced-action mixed and trowel-applied to a compacted 5-10 mm finish.
About Fosroc Nitoflor TF 100 UH
Fosroc Nitoflor TF 100 UH is a heavy-duty polyurethane-based hybrid floor screed designed for industrial environments where ordinary epoxy flooring simply does not survive. Laid at a compacted thickness of 5 mm to 10 mm, it is a multi-component, trowel-applied system that cures to a dense, seamless, jointless topping with very high chemical resistance and an unusual ability to tolerate thermal shock, steam cleaning and freeze/thaw cycling. Many specifiers and contractors in India will recognise this product under its earlier name, Nitoflor Uragard CR; Fosroc renamed it but the chemistry and intended duty remain the same. The “TF” denotes the trowel-finished (medium-to-heavy duty) family, “100” reflects the high in-service compressive strength of the cured screed, and “UH” indicates the ultra-high (heavy) duty grade within the polyurethane range. Unlike a thin roller-applied coating, TF 100 UH builds a genuine monolithic wearing layer that becomes part of the floor structure, taking abrasion, point loads and forklift traffic while resisting the cocktail of acids, alkalis, salts, sugars, oils and solvents found in real process areas. It is supplied as a factory-batched kit (base, hardener, coloured pigment pack and graded filler) so that on-site mixing simply reconstitutes a controlled formulation rather than relying on site-blended ratios. For projects across Delhi NCR and pan-India, Space Arc Engineering supplies and applies TF 100 UH as part of a complete Fosroc Nitoflor flooring scope, from substrate diagnosis through priming, laying and sealing.
The technical insight
The defining feature of TF 100 UH is its polyurethane-hybrid binder rather than a straight epoxy. Epoxy screeds are hard and chemically tough at ambient temperature, but their glass-transition behaviour means they soften and can debond when exposed to hot water wash-down, steam or thermal cycling, and they are vulnerable to organic acids and lactic/citric attack common in food plants. A PU-hybrid matrix retains its mechanical integrity and bond across a far wider temperature window, which is why the same Fosroc Uragard family is rated for a broad service band (roughly -45°C to 115°C) and is specifically formulated to withstand thermal shock and freeze/thaw exposure. The chemical-resistance data behind the product is not marketing language: Fosroc’s testing references ASTM D1308 for spot tests and ASTM D543 for immersion, covering inorganic and organic acids, alkalis, salt solutions, sugars, solvents, edible and medicated oils, dairy products, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, fuels and lubricants. Critically, the system performs as a bonded composite, so substrate preparation is the single biggest determinant of success: the concrete must be sound, the laitance removed by grit blasting, scabbling or grinding, and the floor primed with Nitocote Primer Sealer and blinded with Antislip Grain No. 3 to create a mechanical key. One honest caveat the datasheet itself flags is that the screed can undergo a colour change on contact with strong oxidising acids even though its structural and barrier performance is retained.
Where it is used
- Food processing and packing halls, including wet and high-care zones
- Dairies, cheese plants and milk processing areas with lactic and fat exposure
- Breweries, distilleries, soft-drink and bottling/canning lines
- Commercial and institutional kitchens, bakeries and central catering units
- Cold stores and freezer rooms (excluding ballast freezer rooms)
- Pharmaceutical, fine-chemical and cosmetic manufacturing floors
- Chemical handling, decanting and process areas with acid/alkali spillage
- Areas subject to steam cleaning, hot wash-down and thermal cycling
Key advantages
- Very high chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, sugars, oils, solvents and food products (tested to ASTM D1308 and ASTM D543)
- Withstands thermal shock, hot wash-down, steam cleaning and freeze/thaw cycling that defeat conventional epoxy screeds
- Seamless, jointless and impervious at 5 mm, giving a hygienic, easily cleaned surface suited to HACCP/food-grade environments
- Heavy-duty compressive performance (cured strength in the order of 100 MPa) for forklift traffic and point loads
- Wide service-temperature tolerance making it suitable for both cold stores and hot process areas
- Factory-batched multi-component kit for consistent, repeatable on-site mixing
- Non-flammable in both the primer and the screed components, simplifying site handling
- Can be over-sealed with Nitocote CR400 for constantly wet or ultra-hygienic operations
Limitations & considerations
- Must not be installed at substrate or ambient temperatures below 5°C; above 35°C requires Hot Weather Working procedures
- New concrete must be at least 14 days old (at 20°C) with moisture content not exceeding 5%
- Not to be applied where rising damp, osmosis or relative humidity above 75% (BS 8203 Appendix A) is present
- Not suitable over asphalt, unmodified sand/cement screeds, or PVC tiles/sheet
- Undergoes a colour change on contact with strong oxidising acids, even though performance is retained
- Not recommended for outdoor applications or for ballast freezer rooms
- Reflective cracking can occur if the substrate moves or cracks after application; all expansion joints must be carried through the topping
- Acid etching is not recommended for floor preparation; mechanical preparation is required
- Trowel application is labour-intensive and skill-dependent, so it should be laid by trained applicators
Selection & best practice
Treat substrate preparation as the project, not a preliminary. Grit-blast, scabble or grind to remove all laitance, oil and old coatings, confirm the slab is at least 14 days old and below 5% moisture (and below 75% RH per BS 8203), then prime with Nitocote Primer Sealer and blind with Antislip Grain No. 3 while wet to create a key. Mix the full base, hardener, colour pack and filler in a forced-action mixer (never a free-fall drum mixer) for 2-3 minutes, lay only while the primer is tacky, tamp with a wooden float for full compaction and steel-trowel to a closed texture at a minimum 5 mm. Carry every existing expansion joint up through the topping and, in constantly wet or high-hygiene areas, over-seal with Nitocote CR400. Always insist on the latest Fosroc datasheet and a site-specific chemical-exposure check before finalising the specification.

Industry use cases
Food & Beverage Processing
Dairy halls, bottling lines and packing areas where lactic acid, sugars, fats and hot wash-down would soften an epoxy floor; TF 100 UH gives a seamless, HACCP-friendly surface that tolerates steam cleaning.
Cold Storage & Freezer Rooms
Cold stores and chiller floors exposed to freeze/thaw cycling and thermal shock during defrost and wash-down, where the wide service-temperature band of the PU-hybrid screed prevents cracking and debonding (excluding ballast freezer rooms).
Pharmaceutical & Fine Chemicals
Manufacturing and decanting floors subject to spillage of solvents, acids and process chemicals, where a chemically resistant, easily cleaned, jointless screed is required for GMP-grade cleanliness.
Commercial Kitchens & Catering
Central kitchens, bakeries and institutional catering floors that see boiling water, oils, food acids and constant traffic, needing a slip-managed, hygienic, impervious surface.
Chemical & Industrial Plants
Acid handling, battery rooms and process bays where aggressive inorganic and organic chemicals attack ordinary toppings, and a heavy-duty 100 MPa-class wearing layer is needed for forklift and point loads.

How we position Fosroc Nitoflor TF 100 UH
Within the Fosroc range, TF 100 UH sits above hardener and coating products such as Nitoflor Hardtop (dry-shake surface hardener) and the thin-film epoxy coatings like Nitoflor FC150, and alongside the epoxy screed Nitoflor TF10000; the key distinction is its polyurethane-hybrid binder, which buys thermal-shock and food-acid resistance that pure epoxy systems cannot match. For substrate repair and falls it pairs with the Nitoflor EU range, and for grouting machine bases in the same plant, products like Conbextra EP120 are complementary. Against the wider market, the most credible alternatives are Sika’s polyurethane-cement screeds (the Sikafloor PurCem / Sikafloor-21 N PurCem family), which target the same wet-process and thermal-cycling duty; BASF/MBCC Ucrete (now under MBS/MBCC-derived brands) is the long-established benchmark PU-cement screed for the heaviest food and chemical floors. For lighter or budget-driven scopes, STP (Sika India’s STP brand) and Dr. Fixit offer epoxy and PU coating systems, though these generally sit a tier below a true 5-10 mm PU-hybrid screed in thermal and impact duty. The honest position: specify TF 100 UH when the floor genuinely sees hot wash-down, steam, food acids or freeze/thaw; for dry, ambient-temperature industrial floors a Nitoflor epoxy screed or coating may be more economical and equally durable.
