Fosroc Nitoflor SL3000-IM
A 3 mm flow-applied, four-component epoxy floor topping that delivers a seamless, hygienic, chemical-resistant surface for light-to-medium industrial floors.
What is it?
A 3 mm thick, flow-applied (self-levelling) epoxy resin floor topping from Fosroc’s Nitoflor SL3000 range, supplied as a pre-weighed four-component system (base, hardener, graded aggregate and colour pack).
Where is it used?
Light-to-medium-duty industrial floors: food and beverage units, dairy and pharmaceutical process areas, clean rooms, plant rooms, production halls, packaging lines and engineering workshops.
Why use it?
It lays a dense, impervious, seamless and easy-to-clean surface with good abrasion and chemical resistance, fast return to service, and a smooth light-reflective finish in a range of colours.
How is it applied?
Specialist applicators prime the prepared concrete with Nitoprime 25, machine-mix the four packs, pour and screed to 3 mm with a serrated trowel, then de-aerate with a spiked roller before the product sets.
About Fosroc Nitoflor SL3000-IM
Fosroc Nitoflor SL3000-IM is the self-levelling epoxy member of the Nitoflor SL3000 industrial flooring family, engineered for facilities that need a tough, decorative and hygienic monolithic floor without the joints, porosity and dusting of bare concrete. The system is built from graded aggregates bound in a pigmented epoxy resin matrix and is delivered as a four-component, pre-weighed pack — base, hardener, graded aggregate and colour pack — so that each batch mixed on site reproduces the laboratory formulation exactly. Once cured it forms a dense, impervious, seamless skin roughly 3 mm thick that bonds intimately to the prepared substrate and resists abrasion, impact, spillage and routine wash-down chemicals.
The “-IM” designation marks this out within Fosroc India’s catalogue as the standard industrial/medium-duty self-levelling epoxy grade, distinct from the polyurethane-cement “UT” variants built for thermal-shock and wet-process kitchens, and from the “ESD” electrostatic-dissipative versions used in electronics and flammable-atmosphere zones. Where a plant needs a smooth, coloured, chemically resistant floor that is comfortable to walk and easy to clean — rather than the more aggressive demands of steam cleaning or static control — Nitoflor SL3000-IM is the natural fit.
For Indian specifiers, the practical appeal is threefold. First, it is a genuinely seamless system: with no grout lines or tile joints to harbour bacteria or fail under traffic, it suits hygiene-sensitive food, dairy and pharma environments and passes housekeeping audits more easily. Second, it returns floors to service quickly — foot traffic in about 24 hours and vehicular/forklift traffic in about 48 hours at normal Indian ambient temperatures — which matters when a production line cannot afford long shutdowns. Third, it is a complete, documented system: the SL3000 family complies with IS 4631:2001, carries a GreenPro Ecolabel, and is installed by Fosroc-trained applicators working to a defined Product Method Statement, so quality is repeatable from project to project. As an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator covering Delhi NCR and pan-India, Space Arc Engineering supplies the material and the trained crews to install it.
The technical insight
Performance hinges on three things the data sheet makes explicit. (1) Substrate condition: concrete must be at least 28 days old, below 5% moisture content and under 75% relative humidity, with all laitance removed by grinding, scabbling or grit-blasting — epoxy bonds to a sound, open-pored surface, not to laitance or damp slabs. (2) Priming: the floor must be sealed with Nitoprime 25, a solvent-based epoxy primer scrubbed in to maximise absorption; the topping is then laid only within the correct overcoating window (8-12 h at 20°C, 6-8 h at 30°C, 4-6 h at 40°C) — too early and it traps solvent, too late and inter-coat adhesion suffers. (3) Mixing discipline: the four packs are mixed whole (colour into base, then hardener, then graded aggregate over ~3 minutes) — part-mixing is explicitly prohibited because it shifts the resin-to-filler ratio and ruins both strength and appearance. The cured topping develops a compressive strength above 67 N/mm² (ASTM C579), flexural strength above 25 N/mm² and tensile strength above 12 N/mm² (BS 6319) at 7 days, Shore D hardness above 70, and pull-off adhesion above 3 N/mm² that typically fails within the concrete rather than at the bond line — the sign of a correctly primed substrate. Pot life is short (over 45 minutes at 27°C, less as temperature rises), so mixing and laying must be a continuous, well-resourced operation.

- Installed by Fosroc-trained specialist applicators to a defined method statement
Limitations & considerations
- Not for surfaces subject to rising damp, osmosis or RH above 75% without a damp-proof membrane
- Should not be installed below 10°C or above 45°C ambient/substrate temperature
- Not suitable where significant thermal shock occurs — use the Nitoflor SL3000 UT polyurethane-cement variant instead
- Must not be applied to asphalt, weak or friable concrete, unmodified sand/cement screeds, or PVC tiles/sheet
- At 3 mm it is a topping, not a structural overlay, and will not bridge moving cracks or large undulations
- Like all epoxies, light shade change can occur over time under UV or adverse conditions (cosmetic, not structural)
- Short pot life (>45 min at 27°C, shorter when hot) demands continuous, well-resourced application
- Requires trained specialist applicators and disciplined surface preparation — not a DIY product
- Standard (non-ESD) grade offers no electrostatic dissipation; specify the ESD variant for static-sensitive areas
Selection & best practice
Treat preparation as the project, not the topping. Confirm the slab is at least 28 days old, below 5% moisture and under 75% RH (check with a Protimeter or per BS 8203 Appendix A) and, where rising damp is even a possibility, install a damp-proof membrane first. Mechanically prepare the surface — grind, scabble or grit-blast to remove laitance, oil and old coatings — then prime with Nitoprime 25 and lay the topping strictly within the temperature-dependent overcoating window. Mix only whole packs in the prescribed sequence, never part-batches, and plan labour and material so that mixing and laying stay continuous within the pot life. Carry all existing movement and expansion joints through the new floor with a compatible sealant. Schedule installation when ambient temperature sits between 10°C and 45°C, and protect the fresh floor from traffic until the cure milestones are met. For maintenance, clean regularly with a rotary scrubber and a water-miscible agent up to 50°C, and wipe up aggressive spillages immediately before they concentrate on evaporation.

How we position Fosroc Nitoflor SL3000-IM
Within Fosroc’s own range, Nitoflor SL3000-IM sits as the standard self-levelling epoxy option: step up to Nitoflor SL3000 UT (polyurethane-cement) for thermal-shock and steam-cleaned wet areas, or to the SL3000 UT ESD / U ESD grades where electrostatic dissipation is required for electronics or flammable atmospheres. It is always paired with the Nitoprime 25 epoxy primer and cleaned with Nitoflor Sol; thinner decorative or coating-only needs are better served by Fosroc’s roller-applied Nitoflor coatings rather than this 3 mm topping. Against the wider Indian market, the closest competitors are Sika’s epoxy self-levelling floors (e.g. Sikafloor self-smoothing systems), MBCC/Master Builders Solutions Ucrete and Mastertop ranges, STP Limited’s epoxy flooring, and BASF-lineage systems; for smaller or repair-scale jobs, Dr. Fixit (Pidilite) offers epoxy floor coatings, though these are generally positioned as coatings rather than full self-levelling toppings. Choice between brands usually comes down to the specified test values, the approved-applicator network and local technical support — which is where Space Arc Engineering, as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR and pan-India, supplies both the material and the trained crews to install it to specification.
